In 1974 when I was in the Navy I had the opportunity to purchase one brand new in the crate in Spain for $800! And I could have shipped it back for free on one of my squadron aircraft. Biggest mistake I ever made on a purchase. Several guys in the squadron purchased one. The bike is a Legend. I’m a Harley guy but there’s always room in my heart for a Norton! Nice ride!
This norton is not a MK3 as that was an electric start or assist, front and rear disk brakes, left hand shift and key up by the center idiot lights. Great bike as is this one.
Another beautiful bike. Dunno where I’ve been the last few years but now I’ve found your channel I’m in motorcycle heaven. You’ve some awesome bikes, some wonderful rare machines, some icons. And as always your love of bikes and your knowledge is inspirational. 👍
hi, thanks for the love, im in the uk, my mate has one of these laying in his shed, half built, i been on at him for 5yrs to finish it, great stuff and many thanks for the reply, love your vids,
Very nice bike! But this is not a Commando MK3. Most likely this is a MK2A. MK3 had (among other things): - A gearshift at left side - not right side as this bike. - A gearshift with one down and rest up. - Disc brake both front and rear. - Electric starter / “assist”. - Control consol made of black plastic. - Handle bar switches made of plastic. etc. etc.
Seems to be....but has the MK3 front disk on the left side, yet no rear disk, RS shifter etc etc. So a mixed bag of bits. Still sounds great and easy to make it want every you want.
But if you know Commando's, the horn is buried deep within the bowels of the bike. They were literally built up around the horn! No way to reach it with a hammer ;-)
Probably the most beautiful bike ever made!
And my father would agree with you. He owned one.
Loved bine ! nothing sounds quite. like an an Intersrate 850 !! those Pea shooters. sound like no other bike ! :-)
For sure !! :-)
My favorite of all time. Something to live for.

I have exactly the same bike in original red with gold decals. It is a truly magical machine.
Hope the speedo cable issue was addressed before something happened...
It's an interstate, was meant to have saddlebags, that's why the pipes aren't upswept.
It has Roadster tank and Roadster side covers so it’s a Roadster with less attractive exhaust.
After all the other work, new tyres would have been a minor final touch. Need indicators, working horn, lights in Australia to be roadworthy.
Cool dudes have Commandos Clint Eastwood and Keanu Reeves. Oh and Myself !
Uuh uuh ! A beauty - At 4000 rpm you could drive day and night!!
Beautiful bike love that Norton sound very cool
What's the 3 stripes on the tank all about? Why is the Speedo cable hanging down under the bike?
Can't wait to buy one of then hell yeah
Wolverine, that thing sounds fantastic! 👍🏻
Another great bike ! (Appreciated the OCD comment as well)
Once again, great vid. Very nice ride. Love ya work Kap.
that a classic bike dude
Bridgitte Bardot did an ad for NORTON.
I thought MK III’s were electric start and shift on the left.

MK2 I would have thought
Not a 75 . . . it's a 74

The Interstate pipes don’t look as good as the Roadsters.
all that work and you don't do an easy fix like the horn ?
Not a Mk 3, and the silencers are sat too low.
1974 Mk IIA
Definitely Mk2A .Forks on backwards BTW. Disk should be on the right. Great candidate for a proper restoration. GLWS . Oops 5 year old vid😅
Horn doesn't work ? Try smacking it with a spanner works on old cars

set those carbs up right, you are ticking over on one cylinder
funny way to to put muflers on
Ken is looking yoked in this vid
1 stripe on a commando denotes 750 2 stripes 850
Tie up that cable.
Organ donor.
Wolverine
That gold pinstriping is beautiful.... The factory edition had pinstriping, but certainly not.
Like that.....
