sikcxz in the morning I think you’re both right. Some metaphorically live the life of Boxing, and others metaphorically live the life of Football.
Some take the advice/wisdom of others (elders/teachers/friends/etc) and go out to achieve greatness. The Boxer.
Some build greatness step by step with a group (friends/family) through trial and error, like the football player.

Boxing is a metaphor for life and that’s what makes it the best sport in the world in my opinion and a great thing for kids to know nothing else for self-defense

MMA is best for self defense, but boxings cool

I agree about the metaphor for life and boxing is my true passion but having a well rounded fighting knowledge base with some training in wrestling, Muay thai, BJJ, with an emphasis on boxing or the martial art of their preference is important in today's world because so many others they could meet are trained in multiple styles or most likely BJJ nowadays than boxing.

Great show as usual gentleman...I just started working with the younger kids ..Teddy you actually gave one of my young guys some tips at the Hall of Fame..I try and keep it positive and fun ,especially in the beginning ...Being"coach able" goes a long way ...Everybody advances at a different pace...I do stress the basics in hand placement and balance...I do notice kids feed off of each other so I will sometimes run some bag or ring drills to keep it fresh...Im just learning about being a trainer and I have alot of questions...One thing that I do notice is the trainer has to bring the positive energy EVERY workout,my fighters feed off of my energy ...My motto: "We wont win every fight, but when you climb to those ropes you WILL be in your best condition, because thats all we have control of before your match"....Great show from one of the masters of boxing...Ken Rideout is a dynamite host and keeps the show flowing nicely...

Thanks for this Teddy! Have three sons, 5,3,1, and all three of them love putting on their little 2 and 4 Oz gloves. Most of the our 1 year old is obsessed with putting g the gloves on and hitting their little "heavy" bag. He is very coordinated and athletic for basically a toddler so I'm looking at taking his interest seriously if he keeps at it. This is invaluable advice, thank you so much!

I remember sitting in a dressing room absolutely shitting my pants. But I faced it that night, win or lose I was going down swinging as hard as i could.
Now sometimes, it could be a job interview or just a difficult task but when I get that same shitting my pants feeling I know I can see it through.

at the time it was one of the worst nights of my life. When I saw my opponent I thought what the hell have I got myself into?? I was 14stone , he was 17 stone. He looked like a 6ft human pitbull. But that fear brought the best out of me and I stopped him in the second round. (after breaking his nose in the first) Looking back now , it was one of the best nights of my life but didn't feel like it at the time in that dressing room. I still coach now just to give these kids what I got from the sport. @@ShogunateDaimyo

My son started taekwondo at 5, he enjoys it but its perhaps too technical having to memorise patterns and Korean terminology but he is learning things your talking about stances and balance and coordination and pad combinations. This is excellent guide to help practice the boxing.

This is how you stop your children growing up to being entitled c*nts. Life is always teaching us. There'll be challenging times but you can overcome and if you don't, learn the lessons and regroup.
No matter what happens, we ALWAYS choose how we respond. A victim mindset is a one way ticket to a wasted life. Thank you, excellent video!

I have a 3-year-old boy that has had boxing gloves on since he was 11 months old and could stand, now granted I was obviously not trying to drill him even at 3, but the one thing he does know since he was literally a little over a year is that he at least keeps his hands up before he starts hitting his bop bag. This is a great show for me because I do want to show him technique I was a former amateur Golden glove state champion a few years in a row and I didn't start boxing till I was 20. I'm not ever going to push him to compete but I do want him if he decides to compete to be way better than I ever was I think that's what every parent wants. So I am curious on to when I should start really getting on him a little more about proper technique right now he totally still drops his hands once he starts swinging and they are all Haymakers. But for being 3 years old I think he has some pop.

This was cool. Having Teddy break things down is interesting, as always, and at times funny. I'm sure most of your subscribers could ask questions that would keep him at that desk so long he'd have to retire there 😂 I think allot of people who look to get into the sport..well there just aren't that many gyms. REAL boxing gyms, not hipster central "boxing" clubs that are more about style than substance and have trainers who are blending yoga and cross fit and boxing. I don't know what you call that. But it's not boxing. Even in a city with a couple of clubs you won't necessarily have a trainer in them so much as someone who's just passing on really sloppy advice. Boxing fell so far behind mma in terms of the public radar that it seems to have created a real knowledge vacuum in boxing around the country. If I had kids there's no.way I would take them to some of the "hybrid" gyms because the trainers aren't boxing centered or former boxers themselves. I'd see it as too dangerous to learn incorrectly, than to not learn at all.
Love that Ken brought up the point that "punches come back" 😂😂 Yeah, everyone imagines they're going to throw at a still target. Nah. Nope. 😂 I'd guess many people don't care for how that tastes when it happens 👊💥💫 😵..😂 Take care gentleman 😊🙋
