  • Hey Karlova design here, and in this video I am gonna show you how to add some patina on leather and give it natural gloss that usually appears with time and use. I thought everybody does that, but after publishing my recent videos some people told me that they didn't know Tokonole can be used on the grain side of leather. Here I have some scraps of different types of leather and I will show you how they can be transformed by just spreading some Tokonole on their surface and polishing them with a piece of canvas. This works on basically any leather that doesn't have any painted finish on its surface. #leatherwork #leathercraft #leather #leatherpattern #leatherworking Karlova Design creates original and stylish leather craft patterns and tutorials for bags, backpacks, accessories and other leather projects suitable for beginners and advanced leatherworkers. Thank you Karlova! I didn't know tokonole can be used in that way! I wanted to darken and add some kind of patina to a shoulder strap!

Nice! In the past I had a problem with a black dye job that came out bad, used black Tokenol and it covered over all the dye problems and made it look gorgeous. Hint, what I’d done wrong was to use sandpaper for burnishing that had also been used for sharpening my knives and had metal grit in. Gave parts of the product a green sheen when viewed under indoor lighting. Might look cool tho if I were able to get the metal dust all throughout the dye!😂

Due to my heart’s AFib condition I can’t rub as vigorously as I’d like so I use a sheep’s wool buffing pad attached to a cordless hand drill to help me buff the Tokonole and that works for me. Fantastic to know that Tokonole can be used for more than just burnishing edges and flattening fuzzy backs! Thank you so much!

Didn’t make any real difference on the raw veg tan. But looks good on the chrome tan.

Great information! Especially that it will add a beautiful shine to chrome tan leather. I noticed that the Tokonole is spread on quite liberally ( wet ) before rubbing. Is it important not to put too thin of a layer of Tokonole nor let it dry before rubbing it vigorously?
