    Such a great video, Phil. Fantastic descriptions, and the behind-the-scenes footage takes this to another level. Thanks for taking the extra time, and making the extra effort ... we appreciate it.

    I like the raw look, of the shell Cordovan, honestly. It’s beautiful. Those knives, are incredible. I want those trimmings.

    Believe it or not Ashland but the stripping and especially that slap given at 8:05 is the most important part of process

    What a great video. I've never been a huge fan of Ashland because of the machine stitching, but I just may need to buy a wallet from them.

      Buy the leather and make one yourself, it’s so cool. I highly recommend it.

    Hi, I'd like to see how dark skin tones change over time, for example: Horween Shell Cordovan Armagnac or Horween Shell Cordovan Marble #8.
    Will light colors be visible on them or will they become a uniform dark color? Could you make a video about patina on dark leathers?

    I really love those raw natural fat herbie and the FTE too. Also, quick question, what camera/lens are you using? I'm trying to start selling some leather working I've been doing and really like the quality of the images/video you're producing :)

    I have a natural notebook cover and I put... a few layers of mink oil and Renapur leather cream on it to soften it but also attempt to darken it quickly, but it only darkened a shade. It's waterproof too, I think. Will I still be able to age it and patina it and get it darker over time? Or did I maybe overprotect it with these conditioners?

      What leather is your notebook cover? My general guidance is don't put any product on the leather unless it needs it. I also have had very bad experience with waterproofing products and avoid them fully

      @@zen-sufi My suggestion is to do as little as possible and keep the natural look and feel of the leather. If you have a soft horsehair brush you can try brushing it. If it feels dry I would use a light conditioner

    What's the difference between raw natural shell cordovan and natural shell cordovan?

    • @AshlandLeather
      @AshlandLeather  Год назад +1

      The raw natural is not polished by the tannery. As a result, the luster is much less shiny and the color is a bit lighter. Raw shell has more potential to develop a dramatic patina

      horses are killed and farmed all the time, just like cows and goats are.
      In Canada you can grab horse meat right off the shelf.

    I can see why leather is dyed. I wouldn't want such a drastic color shift.
