  • Testing out the 2023 Sherco 300SEF after getting the forks revalved. The stock setup was way too stiff for me causing a lot of defection. After the revalve the forks are a lot softer and are performing significantly better. I'm not 100% satisfied yet but I'm making a few more adjustments I think will stabilize the front end even more.

    Both the Sherco 4T & 2T have such pleasant exhaust notes. Neither sound harsh or obnoxious.

    Grunty bike that lugs well. Love my 2023 300SEF. Came from a WR250f and the Sherco doesn't flame out like the Yamaha did. Great bikes and look forward to getting the 24 model that claims to have a whole new motor.

      @Superdisco199 Год назад +1

      New model has a bigger Throttle body for top end oriented performance. Smaller TB/Carb = more torque. Compression increase will also mean more flameouts and poor low speed behaviour. This is where yamaha and the XCF's have gone wrong.

      Do you prefer your SEF over the WR? I have been eyeing a Sherco for my next purchase, but Yamaha has great engineering. How did the front suspension valving compare? What year was your WR? Thx!

      Had a 21 and 22 WR 250 F. Suspension was fantastic as is the Shercos. I just found in tight slower riding the WRs would stall really easily and take a couple of jabs on the button to fire up. The Sherco never seems to flame out the same and seems happier for my kind of riding.

      @@stevegoatley560 Thanks for the feedback Steve! I will have to try one sometime. If you ever feel like, or have a chance, it would be super cool to document and film that 2024 model! No pressure! 😅

    I'm trying to buy a bike tomorrow and I'm down to 2 bikes for everyday single track. Sherco 300se or 23 KTM 250 xc. You are the man with the correct answers! Thanks for all your input sir

    • @PNWEnduro
      @PNWEnduro  Год назад

      Both great bikes. The Sherco will be better in the more technical terrain while the ktm will be a bast on faster trails. I’m not a fan of the air forks on the 2023 250xc, the new forks on the 2024 model are a big improvement. The ktm has the advantage of being lighter but you will need to purchase a fan for it. Downsides of the ktm are weak stator and no lights or trip computer. Ktm warranty 30 days, Sherco 6 months.

    The SEF has to be riidden a little faster and higher revs to really appreciate how good it is. Leave the putting around to the 2t

    Closed chamber forks aren't realy designed for that type of riding. The frame isn't really a good match either. Lighter springs decrease stiction which can help (even lighter ICS springs). But you need more flex/absorbtion and cushioning. Running flag style gaurds will help bars flex more, also some bars flex more than others. Running say a 90/100 GT216 or other more cushioning front tyre will help heaps, same goes for the rear, ie a kenda equilibrium trials style tyre with a high sidewall. This is why alot of people preferred the Sherco that came with the WP open chambers. KYB are pretty stiff no matter what.

    Great camera angle, FYI, when your seated, but when you stand, we are looking at the ground. Are you starting to prefer the 4T? Great video, keep em coming 👍

    • @PNWEnduro
      @PNWEnduro  Год назад +3

      I think the camera angle is just about right, I like to always have the fender in view and bars/hands visible at times, any higher and you wouldn't see that. My videos going forward will be with a different camera that has a slightly different FOV. So far I'm pleased with how it's working out. I'm enjoying the 4T a lot, I just pick the bike that best suites the terrain I'm riding that day now.

    Follow-up on your last fork changes. For twitchiness you said you lowered the forks in the clamps & added more sag. Lowering the forks makes sense since it will add some stability & smoothness. but adding more sag lowered the rear which made the front end lighter, didnt it? I think that would add the twitchiness back, less planted in the front.

    • @PNWEnduro
      @PNWEnduro  Год назад

      Yes, what you are saying makes sense for sure. I still feel I needed more sag for better traction though, so far it feels better overall.

      It has a rattle ball in there that blocks off flow if upside down.
