I'm participating in veganuary and have been craving homemade tortillas, so this comes at a perfect time. Love the original version and don't doubt these will be just as good
Let's get ready to rumble, SALUD to the haters! Amazing Steph and Cloud, we're always amazed at the creative ways you hook us up with! ViewsClub for life🥰👏🥳🔔🥂
Yes beautiful friend, the scars on us are a beautiful reminder that we've been able to nourish our family! I used to wonder why my grandma's hands/arms had all these little burn scars and cuts...as a mom and wife, I get it now!
I'm glad you came out with this video. I adapted your amazing recipe 3yrs back using Miyoko oat butter and it always came out amazing. Thank you for all the delicious and fun recipes you share! Mahalo from my whole ʻohana.
Tortillas are so tasty and versatile. I just love how we can enjoy each others’ cultures and appreciate our differences. They are what makes this life much more rich and interesting😊
I’ve used coconut oil when it looks like Manteca and it’s delicious. I love how you can use just about any “fat” whatever suits your taste. When growing up I noticed my Gramita never used any other brand of flour, as it *always* had to be Gold medal. She rejected all others lol and she always made her tortillas with pure lard. To this day I’ll use pure lard or I’ve been known to do a half butter half lard, it’s delicious!!! Now I’m going to make my Gramitas tortillas as soon as get home. Thanks for reminding everyone how simple/comforting/delicious homemade tortillas truly are! 🥹🫶🏽
I watched your last tortilla video and thought at the very least I could share the recipe with friends. Now I can make my own too! Thank you for sharing this! I’m really grateful and can’t wait to give it a go! ♥️
I watch every video you make for tortillas 😁 I love watching you and it gives me confidence! I've made the recipe you shared last week twice already and the second batch was even better than the 1st! I'm so happy and excited that now I can make amazing tortillas, too! Thank you for your time and lessons! You are truly wonderful 💛
Reminds me of when my Mom and Grandma made fresh tortillas. We always got on straight off the cast iron, and they would slather it with butter. Thank you Ladies.
I've been following your channel for about a week since I saw your vegan birria recipe (which was DELICIOUS!) I am going to make some breakfast burritos this weekend, so this is timely!
Thank you so very much for this version! I am not vegan but, I am vegetarian and appreciate your taking the time to share this. I have my Blue Bird flour I picked up at the source in SW Colorado (yes, I know it is in the stores here but, I was there so I had to get it!) that I have been waiting to make tortillas with. I can’t wait to make these! xx
Making now w butter vegan same one as your video because my spectrum shortening is expired. I needed more flour. My dough is resting. Please do a video w the vegan butter becuase I think the flour ratio you gave is off and or the water. I used organic all purpose and used 1 and 1/4 water. I have kitchen aid etc and same attachments too! I hope these turn out. Fingers crossed.
I love your tortilla videos! I always learn something and I find it very southing to watch. I used to love watching my Granny make biscuits too. 🤷 Please don't think me weird. Lol!
@viewsontheroad I know you tell us to ask for recipes, I’d really be interested in your version of a guacamaya salsa recipe. It’s hard to find, and has a good sweetness to it.
I already been using that spectrum shortening for my tortillas for years! However I MUST try your specific recipe & technique it's definitely more work but it looks like it is so worth it with having better stretch & less tearing. I usually don't get mine quite as thin as I would like even though they tastes divine lol. Also my "adopted" Tia Grace taught me them with a bit of baking soda added. While I like the texture I think that also adds to mine not being quite as thin because of the leavening, even though I roll them out till I feel like my arms are gonna fall off🤣🤦♀️💞🌹🙏
I had just watched your latest tortilla recipe and I plan to make it this weekend :) Found you lovely ladies by looking for a tortilla recipe a long time ago 🤩This is perfect cuz my twin sister is vegan. She loves the earth balance kind.
THANK YOU for the vegan option. Unfortunately I cannot have gluten. Have you tried making GF tortillas? My prima and I have tried several flours and they all suck! Also for another option for plant based shortening, I use a brand by Nutiva.
It would be hard to make flour tortillas gluten free because the gluten is releases after kneading it. If you do make some that you like share the recipe.
King Arthur has a gluten-free flour that is pretty good. I've never made tortillas or yeast breads with it, but in my quick breads, nobody can tell the difference. Whole foods sells it in my area.
This recipe is great! I would love to see you use gluten free flour. There are no authentic Mexican food channels for gluten free folks. It’s a totally untapped audience. Love your channel and Amazon store front!😊
About 20 years ago a Mexican-American coworker shared her tortilla recipe with me, basically shouted across the aisle while we were both cashiers. I repeated it to myself until I memorized it and it's my go-to ever since. The only real difference from this one is of course lard and also a pinch of cream of tartar. I don't know what it does but she was adamant! I lived by a deli back then and they sold schmaltz so I used that in place of lard. To this day I prefer the schmaltz if I can get it.
I have a question (as someone who doesn't like cooking but am trying to like it). I love tortillas. I don't care about vegan or gluten free but I'd like to have some tortilla varieties. Is it possible to make a regular flour tortilla but add vegetables for extra nutrition and color? I can't find anything online but maybe I am searching incorrectly.
Thank you for the recipe! Those tortillas look amazing. Can I freeze the dough if I don't want to cook that many tortillas? How long do they last on the fridge?
Love the look of your tortillas, but I have to watch my saturated fat. Will they turn out well if I used some form of vegetable oil instead or does it have to be a type of shortening? Love all the recipes! Great content!
Every good cook has a burn story 😢 I still have a faint scar on my hand from a burn I got on thanksgiving in 2017 😩🤣 anyway… I’m making these tortillas. Tfs
Hi Stephanie and Cloud, I need some advice. Where can I go shopping for Mexican products in Nevada. I recently moved from NYC and I can’t find a good hispanic food shopping store or market. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. John 3:16-18 NIV Jesus loves you and wants to begin a relationship with you regardless of your past. Don’t wait until it is too late. You only have a chance for salvation while you live. Tomorrow is not promised. Today is the day of salvation! Accept Jesus into your heart today, and be saved.
I want to make flour tortillas but my Daughter has celiac disease and need to have gluten free, is there a flour that can be used and will it come out the same? I remember my GrandMother making them growing up and couldn't wait for the first one off. thank you.
I’m a baker so I hope you don’t mind me responding. No gluten free flour is 100% like regular flour but the King Arthur gluten free measure-for-measure is probably the closest. They have a GF all-purpose, too, but I think the measure-for-measure is a little better with the xanthan gum for stretchiness. ☺️

Thank you for the vegan recipes. Where can I get a Views Apron? Also, is Las Donas still in place? I can't find it.😗
VCFL👍🏻🙌
Yes!!!! Thank you Steph, for not forgetting about your plant-based friends🥰🌱
Great recipe! I have been using coconut oil for many years and the flour tortillas come out so delicious!

I just use a bit of canola oil in mine. They come out good.

I had seen a suggestion to mix the lard on its own prior to adding anything to it. Is that something you would suggest?
I love this channel, I've learned alot of recipes. Stephanie is absolutely stunning as always and fun to watch. God bless and much much love!
They look delicious,
Question about refried beans. What is the best lard to use, strained from the pot carnitas were cooked in ?
Those tortillas look perfect! I’m confused about how hot the comal should be. You should get a temperature gun, they’re very inexpensive!
I noticed the salt rock lamps on the counter. What are they used for?
Great video!! I do live in a cold state is there a specific brand of butter that you recommend I use? Also what measurements? Please and thank you!!
Hey y'all! Do you have a link for your apron? It is divine!!
Making today. If using vegan butter - room temp or cold?

Hello, where did you find your apron?
Can tortillas be made with oil?
Can I use ghee instead of regular butter? Thanks!

Thank you 😊 Yes, you can use any fat of your choice!!
Hi i watch you from morocco i love your cooking 💗💗💗WHAT IS THE SUB FOR VEGETABLE SHORTNIN IF I DONT HAVE IT SHOULD I USE BUTTER INSTEAD ???
Hola!! Butter will work excellent 💕✨🫶🏽 Hope you have a beautiful week!
@@Viewsontheroad thank you for your reply i looove your channel and your cooking 💗💗💗💗💗💖💓
What temp is the heat for cooking them?
Can you have a video on chimichangas and whether it's a different tortilla or the same burrito tortilla.
Every good cook has a burn story 😢 I still have a faint scar on my hand from a burn I got on thanksgiving in 2017 😩🤣 anyway… I’m making these tortillas. Tfs
❤️🥰❤️
About how long does the corn tortillas and flour tortillas last in the fridge once cooked?
I’m going to try these. My last tortillas not this recipe were hard 😏
Thank you I want to start making a lot of my foods bc of the bad ingredients in our foods
Hi, would it be the same recipe if I were to use gluten free flour ? Or do you have another recipe for gluten free ? Thanks in advance.
❤
Do you think a hydrogenated coconut oil would work?
I cannot eat gluten. Will this recipe work with 1:1 measure gluten free flour like King Arthur or Krusteaz?
I hope this works without a mixer because i do not have one
🔥🔥🔥😍🥰
Amazing
Hi Stephanie and Cloud, I need some advice. Where can I go shopping for Mexican products in Nevada. I recently moved from NYC and I can’t find a good hispanic food shopping store or market. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi! When we lived in Vegas we loved shopping for our Mexican products at Cardenas!! You’ll have so many options in LV. Congratulations on your move 💕

Mayonnaise and tortilla. No butter 😋 Dad was Sinaloa always mayonnaise.

@Viewsontheroad is it possible for you to make the gluten free tortillas to see if it works and if their good.
Thanks.
So easy and delicious. Why choose to use animal products that involve so much cruelty when we can choose vegan?💚
Anyone know the kcal per tortilla ?
