I agree it's awesome. But it's not an interpretation seeing as he played it note for note, which by the way is extremely impressive as I haven't seen anyone play it this close to what Slash plays. And I don't think even Slash remembers how he played it as everytime he's played it after Tokyo 1992, it's always been a little different.

My advice would be to start with theory combined with practice, so that you at least know what you’re doing, many guitarist skip theory and just learn songs
Slash is underrated in my opinion. He was a perfect contrast to the shred style which by the time Appetite came out, was done by way too many guys. The top guys were still killing it in the shred department but there were too many players chasing the crown of fastest player or something. Then Slash comes on the scene and brings back the blues but on steroids. So many memorable solos.

Slow the video down with the play back settings and gradually build up the speed. If you don't have the technique yet, you'll need to learn some scales and warm-ups with Hammer-on's and Pull-offs, and all that.

This song is in the key of D minor (half step down) or C# minor (standard) so I would get acquainted maybe with a backing track and practice improvising over it on RUclips. Get familiar with all the scale positions in that key. Practice alternate picking each note that you play as well as 3 finger hammer ons and pull offs. I could go on and on haha. Also, you can slow down and speed up this video which will help you.

I was watching that GNR video back in 1997 as a young 17 year old guitar player. I never thought this would be a reality. Now I can finally learn it but its too bad I started playing 28 years ago, and I kinda burnt out back in 2008 when my band broke up. I haven't played much since then. My chops are definitely a little rusty but not as much as I would have thought after 16 years of barely playing. I can play almost as good in short burst but endurance at speed is a major problem now. I still feel like a month of wood shedding at least 3 hours a day and I could be back almost in my top form. This had me playing again.
This is for me the best Slash's version of this song. And you did it perfectly, it's just AMAZING. Dude you're just a GOD of the six strings!! Thank you for sharing that with us. I know I'll never be able to do this one :/ but I'll never be bored to listen it. Well done for all the hard work you do around the guitar too :)

Reduce the treble to 11 o clock. Bring the mid to 3 then bass on 12. Use the neck pickup then find the sweet spot on the tone knob
