Hear me out. There are many countries (not UK / US) where Bobbi Brown / Mac / Clinique / Kiko are pretty much all we have. That and drugstore brands. Where we have no Sephora and we either have to buy from abroad (if the brands even send it to us - which isn't a given) or go without. So I have a feeling some of the brands you mentioned are doing alright due to their international locations.
Damn right. In the Indian subcontinent, it's pretty much like this. There's no Sephora, and the retail stores, online pages mostly sell those classic brands, and recently Rare beauty, Fenty beauty, Charlotte Tilbury, Colourpop are shipping here.
same thing could probably be said for brands like Wycon and Nabla which I think are probably focusing their market on specific states where they are well established and have less competition
@@drpri1836 Absolutely. I think a lot of people assume that just because US / UK / EU are spoiled for choice - that the rest of us are. It's a big world, and many of us lack the brand options mentioned.
Even in the UK/US/EU these are the type of strong older brands that people who aren’t into trying out new products or paying attention to trends will gravitate towards in department store because it’s what they’ve always used. Also even if they start flopping in these countries I don’t think they’ll shut down just pull out of unpopular countries
I have to say the Bobbi Brown quad of neutral/pink shimmer shadows is incredible. I absolutely love it. I wish I had all of the brand options available to me but that product slaps.
I think the makeup market is just extremely oversaturated and overpriced lately, take the Dior blushes for example. I’m sure they’re great and all that and everybody loves Dior but I can’t justify paying over $40 for a blush when there are billion other options out there that can give essentially the same effect, just without the Dior name.
Being a Ukrainian and having a huge makeup collection, I trashed all abh products that same day and have zero regrets. It’s unacceptable (in regards to any country/w@r). There is great variety of makeup out there now.
I only used two things from the brand and I LOVED them. But I definitely went "welp it's not worth it I'll find replacements" the moment I saw the jokes 😭
After working at Sephora for almost a year, there’s a bunch of brands that just sit there collecting dust. The ones off the top of my head are Tarte, Bare Minerals, Clinique, KVD, Laura Mercier, and ABH. Tarte is always on sale and ABH is always so incredibly dusty, people just buy the brow stuff but literally nothing else from them lol
Bobbi Brown was founded with the thought you only need a few essential items and always with a neutral palette. It hasn’t changed much over the years as her philosophy stayed the same and now continues in Jones Road. It is for a certain client (not me) and many of her early BB customers have now aged into Jones Road. She has also made enough money after selling to EL to carry the Jones Road brand for years.
I work in beauty PR and heard her speak at an intimate engagement when she had just sold BB. She created a beauty category with a product that didn’t even exist at the time back in the day and many don’t realize that. She told us she would be starting a new line and all what was behind that journey. It was fantastic listening to her story straight from her. Tiny, intelligent, funny, she was all that and more. 🤓
After the pandemic I literally just have 6 makeup products now - concealer, blush, highlight, brow pencil and 2 lipsticks. I think nowadays more and more people just use the basics and layer some experimental or fun stuff on top now and then. The days when people would go out and buy new palettes and lip gloss every week are long gone. Can’t afford them and not necessarily
I'm Taiwanese and Bobbi Brown's hydrating foundation and shimmery shadows are talked about by some content creators! The foundation is like a cult-fav for dry skin. I agree I don't hear about BB from creators in other countries though
But see, that explains why some BB collabs are only released in Asia. I remember seeing Bobbi Brown stores kind of everywhere when I lived in China/Korea
as a fellow european but who's grown up seeing sephora in my country as long as i can remember, it's fascinating to see it opening in the UK right now and people from there going to sephora for the first time.
First time I went into a Sephora was went I visited Greece. For me Boots is my Sephora but not all Boots are the same, due to different store sizes some don’t sell Sephora type brands and if they do it’s limited. Sephora just needs to expand to other cities across the UK other than just London
@@nathanscore Yeah the store is just in London, everything goes to London first then take ages like years sometimes for it to spread across the rest of the uk
My first Sephora experience was in a mini Sephora in Odense a month and a half ago (I went to Denmark for an internship, found out that job ain’t for me so now I’m waiting for a new academic year) and I took full advantage of having overestimated the amount of money I was going to need by spoiling myself with new skincare and makeup There used to be a Sephora in my country but not anymore, don’t know why (maybe because we have multiple stores similar to Sephora but at the same time I’d go to Sephora for the Sephora exclusive brands)
Jones Road’s financials are INSANE they have legit tripled growth since their creation in 2020. Not sure if you meant just the old Bobbi Brown that shes not affiliated with anymore but that brand too has their hero products that people won’t live without.
@Lisa Ranieri not sure what your laughing about I just saw an entire Forbes interview with Bobbi where she discussed Jones Road and it’s growth. For people over 30 a lot of us respect Bobbi because she is an actual makeup LEGEND. She’s been in the game forever and was a huge part of the “no makeup makeup” movement long before it was cool. Way back like in 88 when everyone else was doing bright blue shadow up to the brow bone 😂. I admire her for always staying true to herself, she’s in her late 60’s for Christ sakes and look at her go… give Bobbi her flowers 💐
Kylie just needs to stop. Her packaging is cheap, her products are not good, her prices are high and she’s so delusional with her prices. She also doesn’t understand color theory and it’s so cringe to watch her try and do makeup on people. She just had no business starting this line and really anything she makes is just junk.
i work in a makeup store in Australia and the only time i have customers ask about Smashbox is for the OG primer or for the becca under eye brightener, i also never recommend it because i forget it's there 😂
I never heard of Bobbie brown Until I went to Ulta looking for a new concealer and ended up buying the Bobbie brown concealer and I love it so much it’s one of the best concealers that works for me:) I’m definitely going to rebuy it
Another thing is, that Anastasia is very good friends with Dana Budeanu who is rather infamous for being anti-everything reasonable and heavily pro-Russia and over all quite extremist in her views. If that's the friends she has, it's probably safe to assume that her own views are likely quite questionable as well.
This! Anastasia also followed Majorie Taylor Greene but unfollowed her after people found out online. I was actually surprised that a lot of RUclipsrs I follow still speak highly of ABH products even till this day. But it makes sense that not a lot of people have heard about this.
Omg what! I hate Dana Budeanu with a passion, almost forgot about her but she used to be shown on tv quite a bit back in my home country. Had 0 idea Anastasia is friends with her ewwwwwwwwwww
Kylie doesn’t seem to care that much about her makeup business anymore. I bought quite a few of the collections back in the day. They were cohesive and cute. I really liked most of them. I liked the grinch collection the sailor collection the summer collection and the butterfly collection. The formulas were good especially the glosses bullet lipsticks and eyeshadow. The quality wasn’t the best I’ve ever used but it was good enough that I reached for it often. I even liked the blushes. The only thing I didn’t really like was the eyeliner and eyeshadow sticks. I still like liquid lipsticks but NOT the new formula. I didn’t care for the new liquid lip formula or eyeshadows. The cream blush/highlight are good but that’s it. If she goes back to making cuter cohesive collections and improves the formula she may recapture the magic. I would’ve absolutely bought the Batman one for Halloween if I thought the quality was there….
Bobbi brown is huge among older demographic. 30+ women with more disposable income who want more classic and subtle looks come back to Bobbi brown over and over
Interesting! In Asia, it's popular even among the younger crowd, their lip products are really popular. Again, because there is a huge appreciation for natural looks.
i work in a regional beauty store that sells stila and smashbox, a lot of stila sells out and smashbox isn't far behind. ive been a stila fan for my entire makeup wearing life, courtesy of my mom, and at least locally, their popularity hasn't really changed.
I wish that people speak more about how in Western Europe we dont have same amount of makeup in Sephora. Not to mention their customer service, that steals all the free testers and are literally asking you why you entered here coz you dont look like you can buy anything.
I think brands like Mac & Bobbi brown are still going strong, it's what people who aren't aware of trends gravitate towards, they have solid products and personally I'd choose Mac over CT.
Thank you for keeping us informed. I’m new to makeup, and had no idea how messy some of these brands are. Your brushes look amazing, would have loved if you listed them.

Keep in mind, I used to work in retail as a mass market store. We had drugstore makeup, and even with drugstore makeup brands if the brand wasn't doing so hot or wanted to make a release seem better than it was they'd ship us less than other products. We often had issues in the early 2010's with Cover Girl and Revlon sending us 1/3 the normal shipment for new items about to come out so people would think it was selling out like crazy.
hello angelika, just want to say thank you for bringing me so much comfort and a place to run away. i am a big fan from japan and hope you can feel the love all the way from here. thank you for teaching me so much english haha, i think you are so wonderful and its always make my day when i see you post❤ have a wonderful week🫂
When you are talking about makeup brands, i feel like you are always speaking from the ‘internet drama’ perspective, it’s reasonable if you are talking about new brands that blew up on the internet like Morphe, but with with big brands, like Mac or Bobbi Brown, those are international brands, the people that are buying them are of all ages and countries, probably only 5% of their buyers care about internet makeup drama. maybe you could actually look up for some professional big data about their sales and stuff before you say big brands are in their flop era.
Was so excited to see a new video! 💕I'm watching while making dinner. I have to agree with you on mascara. I'm so picky with mascara, so to suddenly change from the one I use to another... very slim chance! 😆
I think people are tired and exhausted of “resting b****” face of Kylie. That also played a role of the end of an era of her make up brand. She was so focused on promoting make up brand where she and Kendall only “models” for promoting it. People want to see deferent people… I guess so…
I think ur also forgetting that there's an older demographic that buys Bobbi brown/lancomr/clinque, etc, since its a trusted brand that's been around for a while. They aren't "blowing" up bc they barely release new products, but they have a big enough name n fan base for ppl who would rebuy their stuff constantly
I didn't even know about the Norvina Putin thing which is just all sorts of weird. Like honestly unless you're an Axis power (yes we're going back to those terms BITE ME) how could you look at what he's done and go "omg YAS queen!"?
Okay just to add my perspective as someone who worked with a major retailer in the states that sells Kylie and Anastasia I would say the theme I have seen in a guest that would come in is the need to achieve “ no makeup, makeup look” or the bronze natural look. Although Anastasia has been lacking I would say the only thing that has been saving them is their brow products but with the benefit of becoming popular that might change. Now with Kylie, I would say the reason why it's dying is 1. The kiddy packaging 2. The lack of innovation 3. Kylie Cosmetics is stuck in an era of 2016 makeup. With the overlined lips and the gaudy highlighters, as the guest again that come into my store are mainly looking for lip oils and liquid blushes that you see brands like. Fenty, benefit, Charlotte tilbury, etc have been able to be innovative in that area.
very thankful for the tea channels that remind everyone of jeffree stars racism!!! its fucked how many people are ok with him and still support his brand..
Saw a video on how to open those contour sticks, don't open the top, just roll the stick up and the top will come up without problem and without ruining it🥰 Saw someone reccomening this, because they love the formula so much
So I heard you need to roll the milk makeup up (if you were able) and then take the little plastic bit off and it won’t break it. In case you return it and get another I JUST saw a video explanation of that NOT that that should be necessary. Packaging does look cheap. Smaller and more expensive… weird.
I think SmashBox might be doing better in Canada since it is a Canadian company but I haven't really seen it talked about anywhere else online since most Beauty influencers are US based. It might just be that most of their customers are just based here in Canada since it's convenient but i wouldn't know since there's nothing about the brand that sticks out to me. Last major collab I remember from them was that lipstick they did with Lily Singh XD Only just found out at the end of last year that their barely holding Becca up by a thread with the highlighter XD
LOL so Milk Makeup components are still sucky! Reddit is full of people asking how to fix this from years back. I deported my bronzer into another component because there is a lot of products in those little sticks!
I feel like you’re my puppy’s favourite RUclipsr cuz whenever I watch you he’s always next to me looking at the screen and licking the screen. He doesn’t care as much about others
I love Bobbi Brown (the person) and her messaging. I’ve been wanting to try a more natural routine so I grabbed two miracle balms, a concealer, and a What the Foundation. The foundation is a bit different and it’s not my fave but it’s fine. The concealer is great, especially under the eye. I have to say, I LOVE the miracle balms. I use one to give me a slightly bronzed glow and the pinky one when I just want a hint of tint. I didn’t find a barrier with use. I broke the seal on them once and they work great-no different than removing a safety seal or priming a liquid lip. I find that they are forgiving because they are more natural. My biggest issue is price. I’m in Canada so the exchange, plus shipping, and my local tax rate (15%) makes regular repurchasing practically impossible to justify for me.
I think a lot of these brands just have not been able to keep up with the trends or they tried and failed. I think they need to go back to the drawing board and come up with ways to market to new age groups. I also think a lot of these brands are for older adults who have money to spend not for us millennials and gen-z's.
One youtuber bought Modern reneseince for video and got Riviera palette for free. Weird. Is KKW okay? I don’t remember one launch of product from Kim. Thanks for the video xx❤
Please the stila liner is still my ride or die and I don’t know what I’d do if it went out of business. It NEVER dries on me and I use it every day, stays black, never runs and I can get the sharpest points
I haven't heard anything new about Michelle Phan and it just feels like I just... don't know much about her but what I've heard is pretty damning. It's a real shame, Em Cosmetics looked like is has a lot of good formulas
I actually commented on this video but I think it got deleted. Michelle posted some extremely out there insta stories that understandably spooked a lot of people, but she’s actually just attending a bunch of Joe Dispenza’s spiritual/meditation retreats and is basically going through a very intense spiritual ‘awakening’ type phase. It’s funny how insanely fast people in the beauty community called it a “cult” without doing a shred of research on him or knowing what he’s about. Either way, posting about your spiritual beliefs as a brand owner is going to be a risky move no matter what they are. And I’m not saying I think she made the right choice in sharing what she did. But the cancel culture is realllyyy showing here.
@chloe it's hardly cancel culture at work when her brand appears to be doing just fine and the extent of her "cancelling" is people hesitating to buy from her because she's promoted covid misinformation and expressed some very questionable beliefs. Also, Joe Dispenza has little if any credibility as a scientist even though he sells himself as just that, and most of the spiritual beliefs he peddles have next to no scientific grounding, so he just relies on big "science-y" words to lure people in. Also one of this retreats involved a "miracle" where a wheelchair-bound person was able to walk again. Doesn't sound so innocuous to me.
I’m 100% still using Stilla liquid eyeshadow and their eyeliner I recently tried the new liquid eyeshadows from colourpop and they’re just not as good 😢
ABH *used* to be my go-to for brow stuff. Also liked her eyeshadow primer. On a quest for replacements. If I were given anything J. Star, I'd set it on fire. No use for Jaclyn Hill because she crapped out on Makeup Geek costing them big $$$. She has screwed other creators as well and can't tell the truth about anything. Pretty much have no time for anything Morphe or anyone associated with them. Not at all sad about their bankruptcy. Only feel bad for the people who worked in all the stores they opened. Can't abide anything associated with the Karasan family.
Yooo I also have this milk stick and the twist up function also broke :( I have to dig a little bit out and spread it on the back of my hands, THEN apply it to be able to use it 🫠🫠
I can't imagine buying something or not buying something solely based on a meme or opinion a brand has. There are plenty of brands that I don't agree with politically or socially but if I like their products.. I'll buy them.
I bought a bunch of kylie stuff and i’m overall kind of disappointed. The formulas just aren’t the best. Except for the powder blush and bronzer though. Those are amazing.
the gloss drip was so sticky and thick and smelled weird and i didn’t love the finish of the blush balm i feel like it made me look oily and made me look like my pores were enlarged even though i don’t have very visible pores to begin with.
ABH palettes is proof we don't NEED anything. We had them and then what? The brand isn't even popular now. Idk.. it seems silly to me to buy something just bc it's something everyone else is buying. I want to buy good products that work for me that I like...

I’ve recently gotten back into Bobbi Brown (not Jones Rhoade or whatever lol) and i’ve been loving the products. Great quality
Fenty, benefit, Charlotte tilbury, etc have been able to be innovative in that area.
i cant be the only one here who has never heard about jones road, right? 😭
I haven't either tbh
They’re popular on TikTok, I understand. So if you’re sane it’s likely you wouldn’t have heard of them.
Ahhh 30 minutes!! Yesss. Thanks for keeping me company on my commute home. 🥰
🥰🥰
very thankful for the tea channels that remind everyone of jeffree stars racism!!! its fucked how many people are ok with him and still support his brand..
noo stilla was literally my favorite, their putty highlighter is perfect 😭
Bobbi Brown is heavily used in east Asia and west Africa. Especially the base products, are used by most makeup artists in these continents ❤
I’d love to try the new Abh palettes but they’re so darn expensive
I know it's irrelevant to the conversation, but my GOD your skin is glowing Angelika! Retinol has been good to you and it shows!
Thank you!! ✨
Thanks for covering the topic about ABH cosmetics.😘So much love to you from Ukraine 🇺🇦🙌🏻💋
Wow 😮 that erborian correcting bb is amazing
How's Rimmel doing? Lorac? Kvd? I used to use all those brands back in the day and haven't heard a thing from them in a while
Rimmel is fine I think but Lorac hasn’t been spoken about in ages!
Saw a video on how to open those contour sticks, don't open the top, just roll the stick up and the top will come up without problem and without ruining it🥰
Saw someone reccomening this, because they love the formula so much
Stila's eyeliner is the ONLY one for me ❤
So I heard you need to roll the milk makeup up (if you were able) and then take the little plastic bit off and it won’t break it. In case you return it and get another I JUST saw a video explanation of that NOT that that should be necessary. Packaging does look cheap. Smaller and more expensive… weird.
I rolled it up and it still broke! But it was a tiny bit so I didn’t bother returning x
I think smashbox have pulled out of selling in the UK? Such a shame as I loved the superfan mascara! Also agree about ABH wholeheartedly.
Douglas sells smashbox. I dont know if UK has their own Douglas website but Germany delivers to the UK via DHL package service
I dont think its in House of Fraser or Boots anymore
Woo, new Angelika video to keep my brain busy at work!
I feel like you’re my puppy’s favourite RUclipsr cuz whenever I watch you he’s always next to me looking at the screen and licking the screen. He doesn’t care as much about others
what eyeshadow primer did you use? i didn’t see it listed in the description and i’m looking for a new one. 😊
I’m in Canada so the exchange, plus shipping, and my local tax rate (15%) makes regular repurchasing practically impossible to justify for me.
not sure if its just seems to me because i easily recognize the packaging but a lot of kpop makeup artists use bobbi brown lol
I think a lot of these brands just have not been able to keep up with the trends or they tried and failed. I think they need to go back to the drawing board and come up with ways to market to new age groups. I also think a lot of these brands are for older adults who have money to spend not for us millennials and gen-z's.
I’m only 11 min. in so don’t know if you answer it but which Retinol product do you use, you mentioned it before and your skin looks AMAZING !!!
Drunk Elephant retinol! x
@@angelikamakeup thank you 🤍
One youtuber bought Modern reneseince for video and got Riviera palette for free. Weird.
Is KKW okay? I don’t remember one launch of product from Kim.
Thanks for the video xx❤
KKW is on a hiatus but apparently they want to come back!
We are in the less is more era ever since the lockdown people are not wearing that much makeup anymore
Please the stila liner is still my ride or die and I don’t know what I’d do if it went out of business. It NEVER dries on me and I use it every day, stays black, never runs and I can get the sharpest points
You should scoop the Milk makeup contour stick into a little cosmetic jar!! That’s what I’ve done, I had a shadow stick that wouldn’t roll up :)
Omgggg yayyyy, I love seeing Angelika on my home page!!! ❤️❤️
💞💞
Isn’t Jones Road owned by Bobbi Brown?
Yepp x
I lovey ABH primrose palette.
Which brush are you using for your colour correcting concealer??
It looks like a brush from Beauty Bay. I bought a different set from them and I like the quality.
We have no Sephora in my country, a lot of well known products are a dream to us
I’m 100% still using Stilla liquid eyeshadow and their eyeliner
I recently tried the new liquid eyeshadows from colourpop and they’re just not as good 😢
insightful and beautiful as always!! 💜
💗💗💗
I love thé Smashbox maneater lipstick but it’s getting hard to find :/
I’m too poor to buy these lol I like my decent cheap makeup 😂
😍😍 yesss another video to watch 3 times one to watch you do makeup. once to digest the info. and one to help me sleep
I have used the Smashbox Primer Oil for years, they discontinued it. It has been so good for my dry. 😢
I'VE BEEN WATCHING YOU FOR AGES AND ONLY JUST FOUND OUT WE ARE BOTH POLISH AND ENGLISH 😭
i loved the Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer Moisturizer & Primer it was my favorite but after the rework im pretty sure it breaks me out :(
i love ur vids so much, keep up the great work 💛
Thank you 💗💗
Yooo I also have this milk stick and the twist up function also broke :( I have to dig a little bit out and spread it on the back of my hands, THEN apply it to be able to use it 🫠🫠
I popped off the bottom and popped it back on and it started working again!
Mind blown that the UK just got Sephora wow.
Angelika giving off Queen Vibes ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👑
I look forward to you posting new videos thank you for your service
Perfect study break content
Smash box left my store completely 😭 and it’s been about 2 years and I’ve only had a handful of people asking for it
HIIIII ty for the video 🥰
Hello 💕💕
the title 😭😭😭 i love you lmao
I didn't realize stila was still around at all.
ABH has a new marketing person so I think they might change soon at least how we see them
Thank you for mentioning Ukraine 💙💛
I haven’t heard about smashbox in years wowww
❤️❤️
ABH palettes is proof we don't NEED anything. We had them and then what? The brand isn't even popular now. Idk.. it seems silly to me to buy something just bc it's something everyone else is buying. I want to buy good products that work for me that I like...
Engagement
How many times can you say Bobbi Brown in five minutes? 😂😂😂
And i think the drugs tore brand have been really good lately. Like nyx!!
That's probably why it was hidden at the back....coz it was broken. I'm pointing out the obvious I guess but hey
Norvina killed ABH PERIOD!
Just commenting for the algorithm 🤎
