💖 ABOUT ME:
Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time RUclipsr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. I hope you enjoy my channel and if you do, please don't forget to SUBSCRIBE & leave me a comment! Хобби
The incentive reviews on Sephora are out of control. For the Saie bronzer for example, of the 268 reviews, 202 are incentivized… that’s 75%! I’ve looked at the ratio of incentives reviews for other popular new products from haus labs, makeup by Mario, etc and the ratios are just as bad if not worse.
Wow that's insane!! Since when are brands SO worried about their products performance that they need to do these "incentivized" reviews? If they make a good product, they don't have to worry about it!
I agree. It's been a real problem lately.
Thank goodness we can filter those reviews out. Ulta doesn't have a filter, but I don't know if they have incentivized reviews.
@@JenPhelps Exactly‼️💯
@@JenPhelps it's not really about making good products anymore. Brands are more interested in being viral or popular for money
lol, I don’t know why anyone would get offended about someone else’s opinion. It’s just makeup people. You can say anything to me Jen. ❤❤
AGREED ❤🥂💃💯
They do though. It’s amazing
I appreciate the sunscreen shorts, mostly because I don’t like most sunscreens. Greasy, shiny, too dark, makes me sweat, stings, you name it. I need a cosmetically elegant sunscreen so thank you for all your work! Speaking of work, I also agree that I am not going to work hard to like a cosmetic product. Makeup needs to work for me, not me for it. 😊
Oooh that is so true!!! Well said!
Try Canmake Mermaid sunscreen. I have dry, sensitive, acne prone skin and it's the only sunscreen I've found that doesn't irritate my skin.
Well said. Perfect
The Rare Beauty highlighter blush was too much for me as a blush, but it's GORGEOUS as an eyeshadow. I can’t stop wearing the Happy shade on my eyes.
Saw your instagram story on losing 3 subscribers from this video. Tbh it’s all good you are an amazing RUclipsr and I would never unsubscribe. Like you said this is your personal opinion, so I believe everyone should take that in consideration. Hope you have an amazing rest of your week!
Why would anyone watch any video if all you want is a positive review? They can just say, " All makeup is great!"
They all demand authenticity until they actually realize that personal truths are hard to digest. I also love her videos, finally someone who doesn’t lie for a couple of dollars more.
@@ira_herself997 you’re so right!
Thank you for your honesty, especially about viral/high-end products. It just amazes me when other creators would rather "jump through hoops" to make a high-end product work & try it every possible way under the sun rather than honestly saying that it's a bad product. It's embarrassing & so apparent. I'm so grateful you're honest.
I appreciate you being here for us !
The Tirtur isn’t high end but I agree. Honestly is the only reason I watch certain people. I weeded most of the liars out. The ones who just want to keep getting PR or make money off of codes. Alot people that do these videos put bronzer in the contour area. That right there should tell you how educated in beauty they really are.
Exactly. Maybe that works for influencers who are at home all day and have plenty of time. But I have to get myself to work and 3 kids to daycare. I need easy, effective products!
@@CubittChaosit works for " influences " because they are paid , they are sponsored 😊
Some ppl have different opinions. I love the saie bronzer I see on the screen. Like LOVE IT
Here, here! We want products that work from the get-go. I don't have the time or patience to have to make something work for me. I appreciate when creators try different ways of using products to help us make a good buying decision, but I also appreciate the honesty when you just can't get something to work, even if it's gone viral.
Keep doing you Jen! We appreciate you!
I 💯 agree. If you have to jump through hoops to wear a makeup product, it’s not worth it
Why can't I like this comment 1,000 times? I'm willing to try a product a few times and see if it will work for me. For example, do I need more moisturizer under a foundation? Quite possible because I have very dry skin. Or, do I need to try a different size or shape of brush to apply something? But there's a limit. I do keep receipts and packaging and return items if the store's policy allows it. Ulta is good about this in my experience although I do try not to abuse it.
You hair behind your ear makes you look like an elf (in the absolute most beautiful way!) ❤
Aw thank you! I noticed my ear when I was editing the video and I had the same thought...Lord of the Rings, haha!
I thought the same thing~ SUPER CUTE ❤🥂💃
Like a lit’l sprite or fairy 🧚♀️
Oh my gosh, now that you say that, I am thinking Jen looks like a blonde Liv Tyler!!
Agree 100%!!! So pretty!! 🧝♀️ ❤️
Agree….a product shouldn’t require multiple steps to make it look good.
I don’t understand why people need to not only be offended because someone doesn’t like something they do, but also because they don’t want to go through an absolute process they would never usually go through just to make something work! Why should someone have to do that just to make something work and others happy?! I work shifts and believe me I have many products that work and I can get ready in good time for work. I’m not about to do numerous things just to get something to work at 01.30 in the morning!
I’m an old Milennial, and I find your look today so nostalgic for some reason-maybe it’s your hair? You look lovely and youthful like you’re from a beauty magazine I would’ve read in in the late 90s, but updated for today. In short, you look gorgeous!
Aw thank you so much! I was a beauty magazine addict in the 90's. :)
That makes me an even older GenXer.😓
millennial here 🙋♀️ def 90's vibes. it's the hair. very pretty 😊
@MSUSPARTANS1973 I think they just mean they were born in the first few years of what classes you as a millennial, not that they are old, I might be wrong however!
@@Rebeltime94 You are correct, although I do feel old sometimes!
Love that you’re honest, Jen! Most of the time when RUclipsrs/ influencers love every single product then it’s suspicious to me. You always preface by saying it may work for you… keep doing you❤
I use the new Rare Beauty Luminous Blush as eye shadow, not just as a blush. Just a tiny bit on my lid in the evening when I’m going out makes my look have that extra appeal for the evening and adds that bit of glamour!!
I am amazed at how many people still don't understand that sunscreen is dosage dependent. Another great video!
Good to hear someone mention that TirTir has other versions of the red foundation to meet different needs! There's also a silver that's supposed to be more dry skin friendly while keeping the staying power of the red.
I’m 64 and the black Tirtir is the most moisturizing of all the Tirtir cushions. I have to say I was amazed at the great coverage yet how natural it looked. I can’t think of any foundation to compare it to. It’s foundation on a whole new level.
Hi jen, thanks for another amazing video. I am almost completely bed ridden with strep and a 100 degree fever so i appreciate this even more
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! Feel better!
Feel better soon!!!
Feel better, sending gentle healing hugs & good health 😊
Hope you feel better soon
I haven't tried any of them so I guess I don't need fomo 😂😂😂
I agree completely about not having to "make it work" for makeup. There are so many challenges in our world. With hundreds of options, makeup shouldn't be one of them.
I just left somebody else’s video to watch this one! I didn’t know I was that person, I guess for Jen I am!
Aww thank you so much! 🥰
For Jen, I am too 😂
Same! I always try to watch Jen's videos asap as I know YT makes some algorithms if something isn't viewed a bunch in the first 24 hours (at least from what I understand). I want to help her channel however I can!!
Thank you, I appreciate that SO much!!
Same here.❤
As I get older, I totally empathize about dry skin & long wearing foundation! I see a lot of women my age use really sturdy full coverage foundation and I think I’ll stick to worrying less about spots and more about moisture. Dewiness emphasizes texture for me, and I find it very unnatural (warm blooded animals can’t be dewy lol), but a nice moisturizing natural finish does wonders for making me look healthier & more rested.
I LOVE the Tir Tir…it looks perfect on my 55 year old skin…I’m dry and it works well for me …of course I have great skincare
You look like a fairy in this video. Such an amazing, soft look.
Aw thank you!! 🥰
@@JenPhelps I meant to say that too in my comment but forgot! I like your look in this video.
Much respect for you HONESTY! thank you for this 💜
When checking out reviews on Sephora, tap on NON-INCENTIVIZED REVIEWS ONLY. That’s much more accurate information.😊
Ever since that rms video your makeup is looking (extra) stunning. So pretty and youthful. You changed my bronzer life. I had quit wearing it because I thought it just looked silly on me. I had heard 'put it where you would naturally have sun' but still saw people put it under the cheekbone so I guess I didnt really think about it. When I saw your video, I was like 'duh!'. Now Im excited to use it! Thank you so much for all your hard work. You are the only RUclipsr I 100% trust!
Thank you Jen! When ever something like the TirTir goes viral, I tend to avoid 👏🏻🥰 I do have to then go back on that and say that on my 68 yr old face I LOVE the rare beauty blushes! I have light Irish skin and these just work beautifully for me…💕
I’m totally with you on not wanting to work at getting something to look right… if it doesn’t look good after 2 tries it’s out !!
👏 for your point that we shouldn’t have to put so much effort to make something “work”. I’m not going to stand by the light of a full moon, hop on one leg, and put on specific 4 steps of skincare to make a foundation work when I have many choices that are effortless.
15:40 loving the shorts on mineral sunscreens!
Aw thank you, I'm so glad!!
Jen, great video and I truly appreciate that you are not “brand loyal” , rather individual product integrity matters to you and that comes across in your reviews. Also, I would hope that everyone hears you when you say these are your experiences, your opinions….not gospel. Most of us are mature and rational enough to know that what works for one may not for another. However, your reviews often highlight pros and cons, then we can decide for our skin and our look desired. I will say that “thanks” to your recent video , I ordered some more RMS and now use the 2 that I had almost daily…..with your new technique. Simple genius!! Thanks for all of your hard work and have a great weekend.💄❤
Being a ghostly white woman, I need to wear SPF if I am in the sun more than 5 minutes. In my youth ( I am 52) facial sunscreens didn’t exist (that I know of). Sunscreen was for the entire body and was always sticky and greasy so to combat the shine I would powder my face. If you really like some of these sunscreens that are too greasy try using a loose powder all over your face. I still do it to this day because I don’t want to look like a glazed donut (sorry!) and it works pretty well. Reapplying sunscreen with a full face of makeup and not creating a mess is something I’m still trying to master! If you have any ideas I’d love to hear them! I love your channel and appreciate your honest and integrity in each video!
Thanks for testing and giving us your honest opinion. The reasons why you don’t like a product (or do) are always thorough and help me decide if I would like something.
I totally agree, I don’t want to make a product work, I don’t have time for that 💕
I'm loving your mineral sunscreen shorts, even though I also use and love Korean sunscreens. Sometimes it's nice to just be able to run into a store and grab a sunscreen and that's not possible with most of the Korean formulas. I also know plenty of people who just prefer mineral, and they definitely are tricky if applied in the correct amount. I'm keeping a running list of your 10/10s!
How are you looking younger and younger?? What are your secrets? 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
I’m sooo tired of everyone raving about that stupid frickn TirTir foundation 😂 (not you of course). I think all those influencers are going hard for a Birkin bag 😂😂😂 lol
It works great for my mature skin. I don’t pile it on and use a very thin layer. No settling or creasing and lasts well for me
I'm 56, super dry skin, it was horrid on me, returned it. Makeup is like that...there isn't a single product that is going to work for everyone.
I use Dior, EL, MAC, CT, NARS, and Tirtir, which has easily become an everyday favorite, likely bc I have a dedicated skincare routine prior to my makeup routine. Additionally, the Rare Beauty blush is an everyday current summer fav.
When it comes to viral products, I always WAIT. You hear wonderful reviews right and left for a few weeks - sometimes even months. Then the next thing comes out and everyone says the first one is just 'meh', really. I know a lot of people like this IRL and they honestly get excited about EVERYTHING. That's all well and good if you don't mind spending your money on something 'new' and 'hot' and don't care if it's really a standout product in the long run. I am not in that group, so I always take it with a grain of salt.
I went to a Korean cosmetic store here is SoCal to try the Tir Tir. The fellow there told me it’s mostly for younger people with oily skin. There are plenty of”dry skin” cushions to try!
I use the TirTir with beauty blender & looks great on my 73 years young skin
Do you have dry skin?
@@BlingyBea I have normal skin Tzone little oily
Same here! 46 years old with dry skin and I use it sparingly and I absolutely loooovee it. So good, I purchased a full size! 😍❤️
I have been using the Red TIRTIR Foundation and it has worked for my 64 year old skin very nicely. It does require a little bit of learning on how best to use it but once you get that, it’s a great option. I do feel it’s most definitely not for everyone and in my opinion, not an everyday foundation. I do like putting it on if I have an exceptionally long day of activities going on. I love how I don’t have to be concerned that my foundation might be breaking down due to the heat and just time. I do use the One Size Makeup Spray on top of it to give me as much staying power as possible. I don’t have any issues in removing this foundation either. Double cleansing is something that I have been doing for over 12-15 years. Like any makeup, you must be diligent to make sure all your makeup is off or you will find yourself with a break out or two. I have experienced that, so I try to be gentle and as thorough in cleansing and exfoliating.
with a wet or a dry beauty blender?
Jen your honesty is appreciated.
Thank you, thank you for this excellent video and your sunscreen shorts! Super helpful! And I love how you make it clear that these reviews are personal. But your truthfulness causes me to trust you. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
OMG the new rare beauty “blushes” are horrendous. i thought they’d be comparable to milani but they are aggressively unusable
Something about your hair and the blouse and the glowing makeup is giving Arwen vibes! ❤ I think it's your eye colour too.
Aw thank you! I'm a huge LOTR fan. 🥰❤️
I am glad you mentioned the Saie bronzer , I have not tried but I have watched so many try ons and to me they all look muddy and patchy . Then the content creator raves about it and I think we'll maybe it's beautiful in real life it just comes across that way on the screen . .
I really like the Tir Tir foundation. However I will say that I had to really hydrate before applying it. Thanks for your good reviews.
I LOATHE the new Rare Beauty Luminous Blush, I mean I REALLY loathe them - Just ick 😅😂
I knew from just looking at reviews watching people trying to make it flattering it wasn’t for me.
Love your honesty Jen ! Thank you ❤
Hey Jen. I loathe super glowy anything on my face. I loathe the new Rare Beauty blushes. Too much for me. I don't want to be a disco ball. I just want products that look good and make me feel pretty. That's it. Super simple. Great vid Jen. Not every product will work for anyone.😊
Great video! Thanks for your reviews!
Love your honesty. Your info is useful.
It's so refreshing to hear your thoughts about the Tir Tir cushion. I ordered it in one of the newer shades, 13N, and not only was the undertone artificial looking, but it had that same mask-like appearance. I've watched RUclipsrs who have praised it, yet it looks orange and mask-like on them. There are plenty of other good cushions out there, so I just don't get the hype.
I agree there are a lot of beautiful cushions and I just didn't think that this one was that great.
Love this video, thank you! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for testing those out!
Thank you for also reviewing the glitter butter gloss, I had passed on them but was still curious about them, and your review was exactly what I suspected they might end up feeling like.
Appreciate all the “research” you do for us! You save us money, testing out products, and lots of time and effort. I don’t know what we would do without all your testing so many products ❤️❤️.
I am loving your suncreen series. Thanks for doing the research for us.
Thanks as always Jen
I like how people gloss over the simple fact that some people don't have access to korean beauty. I appreciate the mineral sunscreen testing.
A lot of it is available on Amazon
@@hithere1528True, but some sellers on Amazon are questionable. I’ve gotten expired sunscreen before.
@hithere1528 yeah but there are people who choose to not purchase from amazon.
@@katxfish that’s an entirely different thing from not having access to

Jen you are just so pretty!!!
Aww thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
This video is very very helpful and thanks for your honest opinion
Thanks for always giving your honest opinions! I always look forward to your videos 💛
Thanks Jen❤
I agree I love the Milani baked blushes!
I love these best/worst videos! Also, Jen, you look *lovely* today! ❤😊
I always love your honesty opinion videos ❤❤ looking forward to watch more 😊😊
So enjoyed this video
I steered clear of the rare beauty highlighter blush for the very same reasons.
Thank you so much for sharing your honest thoughts and opinions. I feel like I always save money when I watch your videos. Looking forward to the next quarterly video❤️❤️
I appreciate your honest opinions, thanks for another great video!😘
Love this type of video! Always appreciate your honesty!🎉🎉🎉🎉😂❤
"I Don't want to have to make it work for me" I feel that way about all makeup! I don't even rate eyeshadow high if it needs a primer to perform. Back when I was a teenager, we didn't use primer so I don't need it now😂
Love these honest, genuine reviews. Knowing another person's experience is so valuable in helping people make decisions about products. Thank you!
New to get a real opinion on cosmetic products 😊thanks for sharing 😊
Welcome! I'm glad you're here! 😊
So grateful for you,Jen❣️I respect your honesty and authenticity! From day 1, I knew you would be a trusted source for makeup reviews! In fact, you and Melissa M are the only ones I watch on the regular ❤🥰
Love this type of video
TirTir, as a company, ruined any positive reviews that I see for their foundation with their fiasco with the gifts.
Your make up is so pretty today! Love those shades for you! 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Thank you for an interesting and useful video 😊😊😊
I love the way you did your hair! It’s super cute 💖
Glad you mentioned using the Matt lippies for a blusher! That’s what I discovered recently and I do believe they last better than a lot of blushers do !
I have desert dry skin usually stick foundations don't work at all for me. They always look horrendous but the abh stick serum thing lol looks really nice on me. I get compliments every time I wear it. Give it a shot dry skin girls you never know..o and I'm 50 yrs old
I'm desert dry too but somehow I couldn't get it to work for me. I'm so glad it works for you!!
I really appreciate you following up on the products you tried but didn’t like. With limited money to spend on makeup I need all of the information I can get when it comes to products? Which is also why I am loving the Mineral sunscreen shorts you are doing for the month of June! 💕
I love these videos so much because you're honest and sincere ! If you knew how much money I saved because of you, you would really laugh 😂😂 You're always kind to everyone. THANK YOU JEN ❤❤
Great video!
Straightened hair is great!!!! Skin looks so perfect and natural❤
At this point, I feel like the phrase "gone viral" is just a euphemism for "popular". It doesn't mean anything anymore, and most of these "viral" products are just impulsive purchases from young 20-somethings who use it once while doing a big fake OMG reaction for TikTok before chucking it into some pile of products they'll never use again. As I get older, most of the beauty influencers are much younger than me (I'm 37) and the products that work for them will NOT work on me - because everything looks good on 20's skin. 😂 I so appreciate you keeping it honest, real, and providing useful tips & product recommendations for those of us who are not Gen Z. ❤
This was really helpful…won’t bother trying the TirTir. Thanks Jen!
Thanks for your honest reviews, Jen! Glad you ignore pushback and give us your real opinions.
Thanks Jen, I am all about saving money and this was really, really helpful, love, your hair color, very spring like and very fresh with the soft and natural make up, thanks
Love the color of the Moira lipstick! It looks great on your cheeks!😊
I just love your entire look in this video! Your outfit, hair and makeup... You look so pretty and glamorous and feminine.
Idk what it is today but you look great. Brows are great, eyeshadow great, eye color popping, your makeup just suits you.
Thank you for your honest opinion I like your videos a lot .I agree with rare beauty blushes ,I wanted to purchase this too but when I tried at Sephora it looks to me like I was applying highlighter ,so was a big no for me ,I like milani illuminating blushes are a must for me specially when I use on a top of another blush looks amazing .
I have seen so many negative reviews on the rare beauty blushes. I do agree most rare beauty products are spot on… this one just fell short. It happens
yes the rare beauty showed too much texture on me too
Great video Sister 😊
Everything you said in regard to the Tir Tir foundation: 💯🎯
Just starting this video, you are looking extra beautiful today.. wow Jen! I always value your opinion most, our skin tones are similar. I’m a lil older but have normal to drier skin also.
Thank you for another very informative video. I always love your videos!!! I love the gloss on your lips. I have super dry lips, and all of your recommendations have always been the BEST. Do you have any new recommendations?
