I don't he was preying on teens at that time. Wasn't he 17 at the height of their friendship. He was just after straight guys his own age at the time leading up to bye sister.
Tati stood up for she knew was the right thing to do, got her career almost destroyed for it and at the end the allegations were TRUE!. I bet she was struggling about it for a long time and that was the last straw.

Somehow, literally no one in my entire circle (family, friends, coworkers) knew about this. And I go out all the time and have 2 jobs.
I was so disappointed that I couldn't talk about it at all with anyone! I was a Tati fan back in 2017-19, and couldn't believe that no one had heard of these people. But that's Las Vegas for you, most people have too much to do can't even watch RUclips stuff.

Personally I think Tati was wrong. I think it’s insane to start crying on the internet about gummies. But it’s CRAZIER that she knew that James was a creep and WAITED for the gummies. Thats horrible

i might be a terrible person but the literal irritation i felt at tati's initial story about the vitamins was unparalleled, like i dislike everyone involved in this situation now but just thinking about how much she built it up to be this thing when she really just cared about her business and overlooked james's gross behavior that was then (later) revealed to be true just angers me

YES! FINALLY someone who shares the same thoughts I have! It was very clear from her original video that she cared only about her business and James's disgusting behavior didn't matter to her until he messed with Sugar Bear Hair. In that moment, my already teetering respect for her plummeted. Why so many people give her a pass, I will never know but she doesn't get one from me.
To be fair a lot of us when faced with actually standing up to our family or friends fall short in real life. I was disgusted by her actions but that’s why I unsubscribed and don’t support Halo Beauty anymore. Watchers and consumers have the power in all these situations.
This entire scandal felt like a tennis match in hindsight.
Had people even me flip flopping sides like we were pancakes.
I wish Tati would’ve accused James for his behavior with boys and men only, not out of hurt, but out of genuine concern and stuck to her guns. I hate that she wasn’t really able to be like “see? Literally told ya” when boys started to come forward about James because she reduced those red flags to a footnote in the Bye Sister video. Shane and the other snake on her shoulder certainly didn’t help.

Back when this happened I thought that Tati was like in her early 20s based on how she handled this whole situation, but she’s a grown ass woman. I’m 27 and I can’t imagine getting involved in this petty drama, let alone publicly like she did with her “Bye Sister” video
Thank you for this, my feelings exactly! I barely knew who any of these people were before the ‘James Charles is a predator’ controversy. When I watched the Tati videos I was stunned that an obviously adult woman was behaving that way, recording it & then showing the world.
I still can't believe how huge this got. I had my boyfriend, totally unaware of the beauty space, asking me who Tati and James Charles was 😅

Defending james charles is really gross considering how everything played out but im sorry Tati was so childish. Crying online when you get into a tiff with your “friend”. I don’t think youtube is dead, i don’t think this was as big as it seems, i’m from Mexico and I can tell you that latin american content it’s thriving, I think we have to remember there’s a lot of other communities on youtube other than the american makeup community

There is a youtube kids, if they’re worried content isn’t kid friendly then kick the kids off of youtube or put out a warning. I think that’s what is killing youtube than beauty drama. All of the beauty creators I watch don’t cause drama so I’m not aware of everything that’s going on. I never liked James Charles or Tati. I did like Jeffree Star for whatever reason but have stopped watching him and never liked Shane. So I guess I got lucky?

In my humble opinion, Gabriel Zamora is a snake. I still don’t understand how he made it out unscathed considering he full on instigated both Armageddons. When all this was going down I was sitting there like, but how does this have anything to do with Zomara? Why is he always inserting himself into drama and making it worse? I know none of this matters IRL, but I do not like him.
He very much stirred the pot and would be like, oh I’m just keeping it 100, I don’t want no smoke. You know very well if you start a fire, there will be smoke. I hope he’s matured and learned his lesson, and I’m glad to see it seems him and Manny figured out their differences.

Was never into the whole "beauty community drama" UNTIL all this happened and I was all over it! Still don't fully understand why it sucked me in then but I also can't wait to hear it all again now 😊
I vividly remember just joining with the sugar bear hair drama because I liked makeup and being obsessed and remember binging all of these videos and the seeing Tati’s video literally 8 min after it was posted
ngl ive always had a very soft spot for tati - i think she's a very good person and had the best of intentions (in the beginning of her relationship) with JC, I really feel like she took him under her wing and went way out of her way to advocate for him and get him into a good place when boys in beauty (not talking about drag queens) were still very new. i'm still subscribed to her and am so sad that less than 5% of her subscribers watch her videos. if i'm not mistaken, it took her a VERY long time to get to 1M subs (7+ years on youtube) and had the most admirable work ethic i've ever seen - she uploaded 5 times a week and produced and came up with all of her own videos herself; she probably put in more than 40 hours a week into her channel. devestating to see it fail
I do still have a soft spot for her but can definitely see the mistakes she has made and recently her content feels too different for me 😭

a big thing we talk about in psychology is flashbulb memories, which are memories we have of hearing about an event. the example that’s always given is the assassination of jfk, in that everyone remembers where they were when they heard about it. i’ve been trying to think of some modern ones that can actually be applied, and uhhh i think it’s gonna have to be bye sister. everyone remembers where they were when they heard about bye sister.

I also remember the OJ Simpson verdict being read. I was in college in front of a television with a group of people. The shuttle blowing up with a group of people on it, one being a teacher, was a huge moment in time. I was in grade school, but it made an impression.

On another note, as someone who was old enough to follow a bit of the myspace scene and that type of music, I never liked Jeffree that much. He was always this weirdo, but in a bad way. I gave him a chance during his makeup guru era but even then he has just shown he never really changed. I’m just happy to see him hide far far away in his yaks’ shadows.

I laugh when the people involved in this drama say the beauty community on RUclips died (TikTok revived it on another platform) because they are the one that caused it. We all got so sick of the drama. Almost all the big brands were problematic that no one could mention a brand without being cancelled and then all the big beauty gurus were problematic. It just became too much
Too too much and now beauty videos on RUclips are just almost completely lackluster.

I am forever team Tati. She has supported people so many times and always get burned by them. James, Jeffrey, Shane, and so many others. Her bye sister video was absolute gold. And in the end she was right.

I no longer watch Tati and I will always have a huge soft spot for her BUT I will always question how she moved in this situation. I don’t question Shane, James, or Jeffree cuz my expectations of them as human beings are already lower than low. But Tati, really girl? I’ve always wondered why she brought it to the internet. If she wanted to cut off James as friends, it should’ve been done behind closed doors. If James’ predatory behavior was THAT CONCERNING for her, she should’ve handled that through the law not through RUclips. A lot of this comes down to the fact that James Charles acts from a place of loneliness. He's been desperate for love for a long time. Maybe all his life. He's a complete narcissist and I find him utterly obnoxious but a part of me feels sad for him.
There should be a part 2, or a small epilogue, of this cause of the whole "Welcome to the circus" twitter thread. Or was that part of the beginning of Karmageddon?

He would invite them over even though they are eons away, and when they say that they need to go on a plane he told them, " Get on a plane, I will pay." Like dude, first of all chill.
