I’m with you. I can’t stand finding plastic baits and empty bags laying all over the ground. I either pick them up and either throw them away or cut them down for jig trailers. I’ve caught some big bass with jig trailers I picked up off the ground.
It would be a good test however it wont accurately test how fast they break down due to ph levels, sun degradation, bacteria, and constant changing temps.
I think this is a great video. I have similar concerns about soft plastics and made the decision to exclusively fish Z Man and elaztech because it's so much harder to lose. I had an experience fishing a conventional senko where I watched my bait get torn loose from the hook and a following smallmouth swallow it whole. Made me feel terrible for the health of that fish. While I have no idea of whether the Z Man is more biodegradable, it is most definitely less likely to tear off and end up in the ecosystem.
Did this 4 days ago, on a lure I had just made from balsa wood 😭 Tbh I found out later that the snap I was using opens by itself when using micro lures, somehow. But I only found that out after losing two lures on different rods with the same snap model. The first one I blamed myself, the second one I was pretty sure I checked
Out here in Massachusetts we have a group called “make Ma. Fishing spots great again” and it’s dedicated to people who whenever we go out we always bring a couple plastic bags (we all have one laying around) and we pick up whatever trash we stumble upon! We also have had big 55 gallon drum barrel trash bins that have been spread out around a bunch of pressured ponds n lakes. Hopefully this picks up traction and people who go out are more mindful of their trash!
The Gulp should not disturb you. What you are seeing is biodegrading of the Gulp formula. That is a good thing. Oh BTW Spring Water has a lot of dissolved minerals and is quite free of bacteria, in fact if you obtained your Spring Water in a bottle that you purchased it will be free of bacteria. Surface Water (lakes and streams ) would have a small about of Coliform, e-Coli and heterotrophic bacteria that would probably eat that Gulp worm rather quickly. I love all your videos , including this one.
I will leave curly tailed worms and soft plastics on if they didnt get torn up and ive reused them and not noticed much difference in quantity of fish caught. I think its mostly presentation. If they sat a good while i will use that bait scent stuff thats neon yellow to just add some extra attractant.
Ya know, someone has to be the smaller person here.....and the urge is too great....so here we go.....@ 8:52, 9:09, 9:17, 9:22, 9:35......."That's what he said." (actually "that's what we said"....at least once or {thrice}) 🤣🤣😂
Thanks for the quality content Mr. ,weather is finally turning here. But w/all the madness that will delay some fishing time.A lot rain so thee Ohio River be a mess interesting to see how the Kentucky bass respond this yr.
Love this! I always liken pollution to "karma." If you produce waste, even if you don't litter, it takes up space, escapes the bin, truck, landfill, and we should all work to produce less waste to preserve God's beautiful earth! As a result, I host a river clean-up and often stock my tackle box with a lot of new fishing gear!
I have started to go to hard baits more and more. My thinking is if I break off a hard bait there is a decent chance someone else will find it, put new hooks on it and use the lure some more. I've found many hard baits and put new hooks on them. In my mind its more likely to get found and taken out of the water by someone else who can re-use it after cleaning it up. The soft plastic may break down but then you got plastic bits and piece floating around.
Berkeley claims Gulp is biodegradable and I believe it is. I would have thought after 30 days that bait would have broken down more. But those other soft plastics? I bet they hang around for decades. It’s plastic after all. Very cool vid.
Hey Brendan, I like how you value our environment it is really cool. I have a random question... what kind of line do you use on your spinning reels and baitcasting? Fluorocarbon? Mono?
Hey if you are interested in environmentally friendly Baits look into nikko fishing Baits. They are environmentally friendly, strong material with scents built in. We use the hellgrammite all the time.
You should be an "on the scene" news reporter. You have that tone and volume of the guy that stands across the street from the big fire and describes what he sees and interviews the fire chief. This is a nice first person, hands on test video. You should do more stuff like this. All kinds of gear tests.
The gulp comes in liquid so I dont think it will break down for years and I recommend that all fishermen tale a grocery bag with then and pick up some trash when they leave I do every bit helps
I fish baits made by Nikko. They will never harm fish. They are swallow-safe and contain no harmful chemicals at all....and they last like crazy. Not sure on breaking down, though.
Thanks Brendan! Yes. Do at least one follow up video after another month of soaking. Maybe every month until they disintegrate. Fellow viewers: I challenge you to a shots or tokes game with this vid. Every time Brendan says the word "slimy", take a shot or a bong-hit (player's choice) and see how many minutes you can stay upright. Good luck!
I found a lure that I broke off on may 9 I know cause it’s the only day I used the bait this year and I found it a week ago still tied on to the hook under water and nothing had happened but the hook rusting
I tried to make a bioplastics bait. There is a video on my channel. Everything is not as simple as it seems. Therefore, manufacturers make PVC baits, which unfortunately does not decompose in nature. In addition, plasticizers in commercial baits (phthalic acid esters) are toxic to living organisms.
I’m with you. I can’t stand finding plastic baits and empty bags laying all over the ground. I either pick them up and either throw them away or cut them down for jig trailers. I’ve caught some big bass with jig trailers I picked up off the ground.
U should put them back in the water and check them every month till they are all gone and see how long it takes
You have good ideas
I agree
Yes
i agree should test and see how fast they break down
It would be a good test however it wont accurately test how fast they break down due to ph levels, sun degradation, bacteria, and constant changing temps.
Should have used Yamamoto senko, bio bait, and googan squad bait too
Brendan, you need to try using BioBait lures. I know some people who love them, and find them very effective.
I would like to see a video of your rod and reel collection
Yessssssss
Good video, I was curious about this. 👍
Realistic Fishing i watch your videos
@@fishermankev Awesome!
Realistic Fishing I was fishin off the front of a Jon boat and I forgot to tie a Texas rig hook on and dropped a hook and a senko in the water
And do a water test to see what chemicals are being released into the water from the lures. I'd be curious.
Yeah, that would be great!
Hey Brendan could you make some fly fishing and hunting videos? I would love to see them
I think this is a great video. I have similar concerns about soft plastics and made the decision to exclusively fish Z Man and elaztech because it's so much harder to lose. Zman are biodegradable 👌 I looked it up
@@natehowell793 Man, that's awesome...thx for looking that up!
The dumbest way I’ve lost a lure is leaving the snap swivel open.
Did this 4 days ago, on a lure I had just made from balsa wood 😭

Cecap Fishing you didn’t even edit your comment how could you write an update.....
@@jimf-150 hey James, I just wrote everything in one go, I've already had the info on the first time I commented, but good observation skills!
Cecap Fishing yeah sorry I think I was pissed the day I wrote this sorry
@@jimf-150 I really didn't even noticed man, don't worry! I hope you have an awesome day!
I really love the energy in all of your videos. Keep up the good work, and keep the videos coming.
A while ago you did a fishing video in NY, were you fishing near Sunset bay?
Out here in Massachusetts we have a group called “make Ma. We need to take care of the earth so we can have more fish to catch
Yessssss

Thanks, I look forward to seeing them next month.
Would be interesting to see some comparison of plastics left on hooks after being wet "used" (shrinkage, sent retention, able to reuse)
I will leave curly tailed worms and soft plastics on if they didnt get torn up and ive reused them and not noticed much difference in quantity of fish caught. I think its mostly presentation. Great video very interesting , now we know what all of DALLMD’S lures look and feel like
Omg dude it’s been so long since I’ve watched lol I spent 30 mins trying to find your channel again love the vids man
You should try putting different branded hooks in water see which one rust faster or slower
You should do one with biobaits
( i believe they are the ones that ate supposed to break down way faster)
...and now we're getting bored...
Yep, should've put them back in the water and keep going. 🤔😎
Little hint of tylertube?? My two favorite channels in one?!?

Definitely filled a curiosity void

My mom would have been pissed with 6 glasses missing.
This gave me an idea to create a biodegradable plastic lure that breaks down quick in water or on the ground. Research will begin today.

Def. do an update on this. Well Done!
Hey Brendan,
I like how you value our environment it is really cool.
I have a random question... what kind of line do you use on your spinning reels and baitcasting?
Fluorocarbon? Mono?
you should keep seeing how long it takes and give us updates
I don't know if you know this but I think Gulp is made from cornmeal. Or shall I say used to be.
Hey brendan I just got the speed demon reel the fastest reel on earth and I want your opinion on it and make a video about the pro and cons about it
What are you using it for? I have an 8:1 gear ratio reel that I use for frogging but rarely ever run it as fast as I can.
Far as I know Berkley don't make the yum lures but they do make the powerbait and gulp lures
I can’t wait to see next month
For me... I've only used YUM soft plastics and they've always been good for me.now it's like I don't want to fish with any soft plastics any more.
Mother: Honey dinners ready, Son: Hold on let me finish sniffing my worms 😂love the vids man keep it up
Brendan, You need to put them in the sun and check them monthly. In the water of course.
What you said about outdoorsmen is very true, nice video!
I know of a plastic that is super biodegradable. It comes in a kit for molding your own plastics and it lasts only an hour in the water.
Seems like a money grab to me.
Hey if you are interested in environmentally friendly Baits look into nikko fishing Baits. They are environmentally friendly, strong material with scents built in. We use the hellgrammite all the time.
I agree they are bomb. Try the tadpole from them too does really well.
Awesome video dude love to see more
Hey what’s your Fishbrain mine is Belen Perkins
You should do a video on fishing with those same baits👍
You should do it with z-man stretchy plastic baits
Nice vid but can you make more lure challenges like maybe a red solo cup or a pencil or a spatchula
😂this puppy is rank it smells like something died 😂😂😂😁😂 me: I’m dead of laughter
If you do stick baits on this, please do senkos. I want to see how that goes.

Good vid , but I can’t wait till you go fishing!
Someone pick a bad month for a bad mustache competition.

The gulp comes in liquid so I dont think it will break down for years and I recommend that all fishermen tale a grocery bag with then and pick up some trash when they leave I do every bit helps
I fish a lot of parks and stuff, I always keep trash bags in my tackle box.... because some folks have no class.
Yes. Let's see in a couple of months.
I fish baits made by Nikko. They will never harm fish. They are swallow-safe and contain no harmful chemicals at all....and they last like crazy. Not sure on breaking down, though.
i found a jig, rattle trap, a frog, and a senko at a public lake
You should try lures in saltwater, I feel like it would eat away at the lure faster.
Once I went to my local river and I found lots of weights and hooks and some floats and i took it all home
Is it ok if I use your "what I have in my tackle bag" video idea for me?
Any updates on this experiment?
Should have done a Z man bait
Brad Heart they’re so tough it might take a while
Kind a wish you would’ve used pond water or something along those lines to see if the bacteria in the water played a role
Amen brother God bless !!!! Awsome video!
I would also like to see them in the jars longer.
Could you make some hunting videos this season. I live in ohio too and I love watching videos of hunting
Man called everything the yum brand
Check out Bio Bait, I have not used them but they are biodegradable. And something else fishermen could do is abstain from using/buying plastics.
Not going to happen plastics are the single most used bait period.
Hey Brendan can u pls make some fishing battle vs every member in your family? only idea
Tyler tube grunts loudly looking angry
Do more of theas but do bio spawn
Thanks Brendan!

Best soft plastic after spawn is weightless fluke by zoom not video topic, but it's on my mind.
Yo where do you buy your shirts? They all look like quality!
You have changed since I last watched your videos
My man they dont "bake salt into the lure" 🤣 they put it in the plastic same with sents & then injected into molds
great video. you should leave them for another 30 days, and maybe up to a year.
Very true about the trash
I found a lure that I broke off on may 9 I know cause it’s the only day I used the bait this year and I found it a week ago still tied on to the hook under water and nothing had happened but the hook rusting
what happens to a fish that eats the worm and gets away? does it die from poisoning?
No the fish is fine
No most lures are normally it comes out after a while
great vid!👍
do you know any good spinning reels under 60$
Ah barbie reel only for 20$
I don't keep many fish, but when I do I always check the stomach, and I find way too many plastic baits that have been swallowed.
Those gulps dry in the sun extremely fast.
Support from Macedonia bro

I want to see a Zman elaztech bait do the challenge
May i know why April 4th video didn't have the comment section?
Love This!!!!!!
Take a look at them in two more months (90 days)
He should of put a bit of pond dirt in each jar to give it the enzimes and bacteria
Like the mustache! Dont shave it it makes you look more like a pro fisherman
I agree with you my dear friend we as human beings we need to take care of are planet 🌍 👍💯
I didn’t know you hunted. You should make a vid
I was Soo happy when you said you were Christian
I like the stache 👍🏿
I just ordered some of your swimbaits. Pumped to try them i burn through keitechs.
