Consistency is key. As a rottie owner myself, these dogs can be stubborn and choose not to listen. But through consistent training, these dogs are simply the best

I appreciate this video! I just got my first Rotti and he is 4 months old. We train every day, twice for 5 minutes or longer if he will. I have some of the basics but need to work on stay and I like the explanation of the dog focusing on you and looking in your eyes. I want to do this right and I've always had dogs but I've never trained the way I am with this one. We are doing great so far I believe. I just need some pointers along the way! 😊

Good advice as always, Collin. Everything you said is spot on. With regard to taking food softly, my local drive through coffee place feeds dogs and our big Rotty takes the dog treats so gently out of their hands every time and they always sigh and say he takes it the most gentle of all the dogs that go through there and what a gentle giant he is. Makes me proud he is so respectful when accepting food.

Everything you are saying is spot on. Did all the same things to obedience train my 8 month old Luna, and I know can get her to do what I want, without using a single word. I just use hand signs. Only speak now, when training new things.

Hey man love your vids, could I get some help? I don't know if this is a normal behavior for rotts to put their mouths on my arm or leg where they are not biting but holding you. We tried to teach him no and he fears dad but not me. Any tips? He's 7months

    • @benfuller3413
      @benfuller3413 2 года назад

It's normal to an extent, it's called mouthing however it is something you need to train out of as it could still end up causing damage if it decides to actually bite. Other that to say keep trying to say no and then not reward the behaviour until she listens, if you give any attention while its mouthing it will think that behaviour is being rewarded. So firmly say no try to remove your hand from the mouth and repeat no if the dog goes straight back to mouthing repeat the steps until it listens. You could also try removing yourself from the dog for a short time and return and see of it mouths again and repeat the no and removing yourself from the picture.
I know this is 5months late so I hope you have been able to stop your dog from mouthing

To be honest it doesn't really matter to much about gender aside from males getting abit bigger and costing abit more on food and I think insurance. I could be wrong but I'm in process of talking to a breeder about getting a puppy and waiting to find out if her dog is pregnant. And from my conversation with her it doesn't make to much difference what gender you go for as it's a personal choice just be prepared for a bigger budget for a male and males can be a little more stubborn than the females

Shut the **** up, no dog should be trained to attack somebody unless it's police or military dog and training is to subdue someone. No-one should ever in a million years train there dog to attack someone firstly you can be held legally liable for any injury inflicted and be sued and financially hit, and you can also face jail time for it. And worst of all is the chances are when it's been reported to have attacked someone it will likely end up being put down. If you really trained a dog to attack someone and this isn't a troll then you should be ashamed of yourself and banned from ever owning dogs again

Can you show how to lure them to do what you want. It looks easy when you do it because your dog is already trained, but what about a new dog starting training

Currently struggling with my 9 weeks old on commands and listening 😭

Keep at it, rotties are very bright and can be stubborn. I have a 9 week old one myself just now. He does sit, paw, other paw, lie down, rollover and leave it. I had issues with recall but I have introduced plain chicken which he loves coming for when shouted to come. Treats are a must I personally think especially throughout training. How is your pup now at 13/14 weeks?

How do I get mine to stop peeing on everything? I walk him in the morning before I leave for work. And once I leave for work he comes in and pees inside

Just gotta sit and wait outside until they pee outside. The older they are the longer it’ll take to break the habit unfortunately.

Wait until they potty and don't come back in until they do!

If only you were here in Texas... I would definitely check you guys out. I’m a new subscriber and I’m really enjoying your channel. I had a rottie, his name was baby. My wife gave him that name we miss him so much. He passed in 2008 due to cancer.

Hey... Collin just came across this video. It's been 8 days since I adopted this 5month Rotty. The previous owner just spoiled him allowing him to bite also he have had a few bad experiences when he was given away for the 1st time.
So far, I have managed to teach him 'sit', 'down', 'stay'. Trying with the handshake now. I have also appointed a trainer as he is sometimes so out of control. Tries to bite and gnaw almost everything he comes across. The moment I let him off the lease he is out of the world notorious. Last 2days, been noticing he is tearing clothes,in this process got bitten although, unintentional. Plzzz help. I really love him and don't want to lose him. He a good kid.
P.S loved your doggo. Love and best wishes from India.
