  • Today I’m covering how to stop puppy biting! This is for Rottweilers, but this will work for pretty much any dog breed out there!
Thanks again for watching another video! As always if you enjoy dont forget to like this video, subscribe to the channel and be active in the comments!

How to stop my Rottweiler from biting?
The first thing to remember is the dogs are using their mouths to explore the world. This is natural behavior, so for example let’s take 2 puppies that are playing, puppy 1 bites puppy 2 and puppy 2 yelps, communicating that puppy 1 has hurt puppy 2
We need to practice this same behavior.
    Calm constant leadership.
    Do not ignore problems.
    Address problems.
Example of How a mother addresses problems and is respected by her puppies.
A bored Rottweiler is a destructive Rottweiler.
    As much exercise as possible!
Redirecting won’t stop the biting, but it will take the attention away from biting you.
So be a direct leader, set the standard of what you want wait for 15 seconds then praise for the behavior stopping. Then give them the toy for listening.
Make it fun, make it a game for them.
    Correction when biting,
    Praising when behavior is corrected.
For adults and children, stop showing attention when a puppy bites or nips at you.
As always thanks for your time watching this and your support!

So you made me go into a google search black hole and find out that the Romans were introduced to, what may be the ancestor of the Rotties around 214 BC. The city of Rottweil was conquered in 74 AD. So Romans were using these dogs when Christ was around!!! Though not necessarily in that region. What I found most amazing was a sculpture from 200-100 BC known as Jennings Dog... and how similar to a Rottie it is. Yeah, small puppies responds great to that. But this is not a good strategy if you get a Rottweiler that is 2-3 months+ old. If you're unlucky a Rottweiler, especially a male could take that yelping as a sign of weakness and become more dominant towards you.

How you treat your dog reminds me of how my husband treats our dog - CALM and PATIENT. And also CALM and CONSTANT. I have seen it really works with my dog when the owner/trainer (my husband) is calm, constant and patient. And wow, you have three Rottweilers and they all behave so well. One more thing, I so totally agree with you on this: Don't ignore the problem, fix the problem.

We recently lost our 7 year old Rottweiler” Ragnar “ he was our world and a huge part of our family. Rottweilers are such an amazing addition to your family but I completely agree they require a lot of training but if you Commit to that training you will have the best family dog and companion that you can ask for. And I also agree lots and lots of exercise is needed as they have so much energy. Currently we are impatiently waiting our new Rottweiler male as we are picking him up in 5 weeks ! Life without a Rottweiler is most definitely a lonely one! Our Ragnar was incredibly smart and very well behaved around anyone and everyone he loved people ! He also was trained German dog commands at a very young age. We are very excited to have another Rottweiler in our home !

Also, these tips and educational training videos work for all our breeds that are considered “aggressive”, and much of what you teach about training is applicable to all breeds because they alll need a good leader with proper, healthy boundaries to have an amazing forever relationship with their dogs. Now, if I do something she doesn't like, she puts her paw on me and makes this short low sound like I do when I say no. I can only imagine she's trying to tell me no haha.

Many of the tips you use for Rotweillers is the same guidance/discipline that we use for Children. Rottweillers are very intelligent, similar to humans but no speech. The higher the intelligence the greater the reward but the more work. Ignoring unwanted behavior and rewarding wanted behavior is key but it is all about Relationship, building a close relationship of love and respect through time and physical exchange. It is my hope and prayer people will recognize this for the human child as well and will consider investing their hearts on one.

Can you do a video of how they act in public? And you’re doing a great job with both of your channels.

I have a 14months Rottie girl and it’s taken me almost a year for her to stop biting me, however she is still biting my family members when she gets excited because they haven’t had time to train her with her. Like he said in the video it’s gonna take a lot of time and patience. You can’t expect your dog to stop biting straight away. With most dogs it’s not gonna work only after a few weeks, it’ll only slowly start working and keep getting better if you are constant with the training. No matter how busy I am I must remind myself this.

That's awesome. You just used principles that are in the word of God. God corrects us because he loves us. We love him back, because we want to please him. I'm very blessed that I saw you do this. Love your channel.

    Great informative video! 👍🏽
Think about adding some playing time add the end of the video to close it out. You have beautiful those and that could be like an outro for your vids. Keep the great videos coming 👏🏽

Just found your channel and I absolutely love it! I just tried these techniques on my 9 week old Rottweiler puppy and she doesn’t pause at all when I make myself big and firmly say no. I’ve even helped like another puppy would. She just continues to bite. I know consistency is key but any tips if she continues to ignore me? I’m trying to stay calm when she continues to bite but I’m sure she can sense my frustration.

Have a new rottie & he's nibbling in play & on pretty much anything that's hanging like a blanket or my pj pants. I found a technique somewhere else that seems like when I look at him he's working out hey if I do this mom well Yelp & stop play. He's still biting on fabric & such. He pounces in play as well.
