Beautiful music reflecting a wonderful heritage and history.
I love these musics they transport us back in time and space
So wonderful to listen to!❤❤❤
I once had a large LP vinyl collection, long since given away. I did not replace most of the music as it had not migrated to CD. It's a blessing that much of it is still available on RUclips.
This was recorded a good forty years ago--and I bought the record back then! It's delightful to find how well these performances hold up today. David Munrow had the thing that can't be taught nor bought nor dug up in a library: a sure instinct for the spirit of the music.
Excellent comment. I agree.
It is indeed delightful,cheers mate
Myself also - 40 years ago in a record shop in Seattle run by a crabby lady! I thought she was wonderful. We all took those days for granted, thought that huge piles of vinyl would be "forever." Sigh...
It's great to hear how well these recordings by David Monroe and the EMC have held up, how fresh they sound even after forty years. Today's performers have greater virtuosity and their instruments are better, but Monroe had the spirit of the music down pat--and in the end, that's all that counts.
Renaissance Music = The Golden Age of Music itself...and it was the Golden Age of Literature with the emergence of William Shakespeare, and his plays...
And then it all went wrong
Mr. Searle, thank you for your comments. I appreciate your comment regarding this video as well as your comment regarding the Praetorius video posted by hugic2112. Keep those comments coming!
@@Gamberist Oh yes, it all went wrong when those talentless jerks Bach, Beethoven and Mozart appeared on the scene....🙄🙄
Unforgettable David Munrow!

This is just plain beautiful.
Very lovely and lively playing. Mounsier's Almaine quickly became a fav.
A Fête at Bermondsey (c. 1569-70), by the Flemish painter Joris Hoefnagel (1542-1601).
Excellent!
Kudos to the pioneers!
Broken consort = more than one instrument family
Excellent.
maravilloso conjunto y linda musica
Thanks! I really love that wonderful music!
beautifull music
!Very, very beautiful!
such pleasant listening ~ thank you!
hi
Beautiful!!!
Splendid! Haven't heard this recording in years.Thank you for posting it!
Very nice. I also recommend The Baltimore Consort, back when the lovely Custer LaRue was their singer. Tunes From the Attic and others.
+fslubin Yes, and 'Watkins Ale' which has a part of the painting above on the cover.
Absoutely! Of course Munrow is the pioneer and we owe so much to him, but as I listened to this, it struck me that the performance here is a bit perfunctory. Baltimore Consort (especially tunes from the attic) has an excitement to it that is more than just the notes. Les Witches plays excellent broken consort type music too.
Fred YESSIR, Fred!
Thanks very much!
Superb and inimitable!!!!!!
Blissful
Great stuff Thanks for posting

Would live to hear this on Crumhorns only!! This is wonderful nonetheless, thank you!

hi
Although the performers on these pieces at one time or another played with the Early Music Consort of London, these pieces are being played by The Morley Consort. This was the "B" side to the EMC's Two Renaissance Dance Bands.
Thanks for the really useful info about the name of the original recording. I wanted to buy the CD but couldn't find it, until I had the correct name. I had a cassette recording, which I lost,
omg - those damn grammarly commercials make me want to saw my own head off....lol....Trying to listen to this amazing music....
Singing along.
Think the primary luthist/lutenist is Desmond Dupre
I sometimes think, music is the mirror of the decade in which it has been composed, so noadays we are all crazy and fools making noises
I agree with you
John Olof Gahmberg :) it's a bit sad anyway
You got that right, belpberg! I am ashamed at the grunting, ape-like noises that pass for "music". Cultures in the future are going to wonder what was happening to us now! Let's hope and pray that improvements are soon to come.
captebbtide thank you captebbtide - I think there are still some humans who don't want to hear noise, but music - but I also realise how difficult it has become to educate children in music. Sad but true.
belpberg1 Yes, I am 15, and I get tired of all the music my sister listens to. I just recently discovered the viola da gamba, and want a tenor for myself. I've also started getting into ELO. :)
Phenomenal
Oh My God ! I though there's a video of Fire, fire, my Heart! Dancing Actions. Goshhh , Somebody help me ?! Huhuhuhu i dont like to be a leader >.
Great selection of pieces----can you tell me what the painting is??
The first music is not from Thomas Morley. It was popular tune arranged by Daniel Bachelar or William Byrd.
And its title is "Monsieur Almaine."
115,000 views multiplied by $10 equals a lot of money siphoned from the artists- alas!
What's the painting❔
