@@therealgookie It is indeed impossible, as they have unlimited Magic Seeds/ Queen's Dinners. You cannot win a war of attrition with these two. The only way is to deal ~25 damage to both of them at the same time when they're that low on health.
One thing that took me a while to notice is that this theme uses the leitmotif of the melody from "Team, This One's Stronger!", but in a different key and slower tempo. It's a small but clever touch that subconsciously tells the player that this is indeed a boss fight, but it's a much more serious challenge compared to most minibosses, especially if the player encounters it as soon as possible and takes on the very late-game difficulty devourer while still in chapter 2.
Something happen throughout my playthrough. While I fight the devourer, it swallowed kabbu in and suddenly died for no reason after it reach at half health
after chapter 2, i wanted to finish some of the sidequests, and on my way to one of them i stumbled upon the path to the devourer. after dying almost immediately, i just ran away.
I tried 30+ times when I meat the devourer early in game cause I thought It was meant to be found and to be beaten but later I realized I probably found a boss I was not supposed to found that early in game so I just left the place
I first tried that and after I think about 3 tries I left. I later returned with a Queen’s Dinner, a Miracle Shake, and Chompy and wrecked that sucker. (Totally didn’t still almost game over)
Devourer was definitely the most difficult boss regarding the time you meet it. It took me almost 2 hours at hard mode after completing chapter 2. But it was so much fun to build new strategies until one succeeded.
For theos curious, here's all the bosses that have this theme -BroodMother -Mother Chomper -Devourer -Peacock Spider -False Monarch -Seedling King -Tidal Wyrm -Team Maki (Maki, Kina and Yin) -Team Slacker (Stratos and Delilah)
Found this theme when going after the second world boss without even knowing of bounties. How am I supposed to mash fast enough to deal with the poison cloud, every other attack I can handle, but just not that one for some reason.
No One I find it best. Not even to try to move your finger if you tense up your arm ton your finger should start vibrating thus the term “hitter clicking”. It’s weird but there is no faster way to press a button.
Somehow, I never found the Devourer until it was the last Bounty Boss remaining. It has so little HP compared to the others that my Chapter 7 team basically stomped all over it.
Same, first I found the Tidal worm while Chapter 4, then Broodmother, then False Monarch, than the (in my opinion hardest of them) Peacock Spider, then I had to search up for Mother Chomper and Devourer.
I went to Patton to basically re-spec my whole party to prepare for the Team Maki fight only to realize that there's a speedkill strategy that would've worked with my old setup
Yeah I found the seedling king on accident, here I was searching for lore books and next thing I know I see a giant stoner seedling. Thought it would’ve been friendly...until it wasn’t
Shoutout to False Monarch for being the only bounty boss I didn't manage to beat before the postgame. Turns out that flies hurt when they're tossed at your face at mach 5 speed.

I beat this game just recently and the first time I heard this theme was when I accidentally came across the false monarch fight. I still don't know where the devourer is. I figured something was up when the queen had disappeared on me, but I didn't think it was that serious.

My opinion on the bounties (I beat them all during Ch. 6 so idk how hard they’re actually supposed to be) Seedling King: alright starter, annoying how he keeps sprouting Seedlings False Monarch: while having the most hp out of everyone, it was the easiest, their attacks were pretty weak and they don’t call backup Devourer: I was aware of how people say it’s the hardest one and yeah, it was pretty challenging how it called its own goons and steals your members, what I didn’t expect is it having around only 50 hp which made it a lot more simpler than I thought Tidal Wyrm: this one would’ve been the hardest for me if I didn’t realize I could attack its tail to stun it, still a good challenge Peacock Spider: like the Seedling King but more annoying, In fact probably the most annoying and difficult bounty out of all of them
People be complaining about some pitcher plant, nah mate I'm over here completely missing where I need to go for chapter 4 progression and thinking Tidal Wyrm's the next thing to do, hahaaaaaa... Quick Note - Amazingly, Maki only took about 3 attempts using the strat I used which can affectionately be called... "Kabbu Abuse". Favorite One, the HP Cores, Taunt and Hurricane Toss make for a great synergy, haha.
Check it: deep taunt to decrease all enemy defense 1, bubble shield lite kabbu because he's aggro'd, and put as many attack buffs on vi as you can think of. Rinse and repeat. I took zero damage from team maki this way.
@@drawingablankesq Someone I'm frens with beat Maki by abusing Leif - Feeding him an Abomihoney and Aphid Egg (I think) each turn while he has a bunch of the poison/HP-related medals including Weak Stomach equipped, and have him spam Ice Rain _a lot._ I personally did a rematch with the 3 and beat them using only Abombinations as my damage output.
@@lordmarshmal_0643 I never could get used to keeping my party in a perpetual state of affliction. Using abombinations as damage and tp regen plus bubble shield is clever though.
That damn devourer. It went from "so far so good" to "did this fucker really just attack me, eat a teammate, heal from it, and then spawn a smaller pitcher plant that immediately attacked me??"
When I first fought the Devourer, I was confused on why people thought it was hard. And then I fought it in the Boss Rush and found out it had techniques it never used the first time. It decimated me.
Because I didn't fight Monsieur Scarlet until after I finished the game, I ended up fighting False Monarch (and encountering and dying to Peacock Spider) before I even knew what bounties were.
The first time I had ever heard this theme, I was exploring the Golden Path. I solved a couple puzzles and wound up in this empty field with a healing crystal. Somehow, that didn't set off huge red flags. I approached the center, and before my eyes, a pitcher plant appeared. I assumed I would be just fine, since this game hadn't been too difficult just yet, even with hard mode. I was wrong. So very wrong. This theme started playing, and I knew something was up. He only had a little more health than Venus' Guardian, so I thought I would be fine. Kabbu got eaten, Vi got fly-trapped, and Leif never stood a chance. One of the best experiences I've had with the game.
Devourer right after Chapter 2 destroyed me. Every time I finished a chapter I came back and got destroyed again. Until end of chapter 5. I even defeated Mother Chomper before
so i accidentally found the room that The Devourer was in. and i wasn't entirely prepared (i wasn't at full health and i had some TP left cause i used it in previous battles). i decided to give it a shot anyways just to see how difficult people were making it out to be (which is kind of a stupid move if you wanna go against a difficult enemy. always be prepared) i somehow beat it on my first try. in fact, i struggled fighting the Mother Chomper more than The Devourer for some reason (the Mother Chomper also gave me my one (and only) game over). The Devourer only ate Kabbu once and didn't eat anyone else. and even then, i had plenty of Magic Seeds at the ready and only had to use one. and this happened before i went to the Forsaken Lands with Elizant II. i'm still wondering how i managed to beat it so easily, but at least i got lucky??
I have a confession: I beat Team Maki on my first try (legitimately), and I cheesed the Devourer and Mother Chomper with Bubble Shield + Abombination Strats
drawingablankesq Essentially, turn relay to Leif, use Abombination. Repeat every turn. This does 10 flat damage to the boss every turn, the bubble shield prevents attacks and the Abombination from outright killing you, and whenever you use an Abombination, you get back the TP you used on bubble shield. All you need is enough Abombinations to kill the boss and you’re set.
@@drawingablankesq I stole this strat from TheWaverunners in this vid ruclips.net/video/9jKDwPALC7M/видео.html In case you want to see the strat for yourself.
I beat team maki on my first try on hard mode practically effortlessly by just giving kabuu as many defense medals as i could afford and got him to spam taunt every single turn. Every attack just dealt 0 damage to him and the baby moth practically did nothing every turn since she spent the entire time curing poison that maki and his sister kept giving themselves by attacking kabuu.
The water wyrm was the one I had the most challenge with. Why? Because I’m horrible at button mashing to block those kind of attacks. Edit: I challenged it before button sequences were an option
if you go on settings you can change that button smashing thing and instead of button smashing you can press some buttons at a certain order, like when you use leif's frigid coffin skill
See this theme is actually good but all I think of is pain everytime I hear it for two reasons, 1. Mother Chomper (especially early game) 2. The new 1.1 Boss which is arguebly the hardest boss in the game

yeah, if Team Slacker decided to stop slacking, they'd drive all the other explorers off, disband the Association, and clear every quest off the board within three weeks
I was looking for this song and admittedly as soon as I saw the title I instantly clicked it because I was positive it had to be the song I heard last night when facing The Devourer and then I was like “Yep. That’s the song I heard as I was killed over and over alright.” Seriously though this title could not be more perfect. You literally are endangering your life for fame and riches. XD
(Vi probably doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that doing bounties is a favor to the kingdom.)
Why is everyone talking about the Devourer but NOT Stratos and Delilah?
That shit's HARD AS HELL to beat
3 Defense, does 6 damage unblocked is Stratos, also has like 90 HP or something.
2 Defense, heals from attacks is Delilah, has about 70.
B r u h
And the one that does more damage can lower your Defense.
B R U H
And they can also use items like Queen's Dinner and Miracle Seed
I think that boss is only possible by heavily stacking up one party member and having the correct items. Its literally impossible otherwise
@@therealgookie It is indeed impossible, as they have unlimited Magic Seeds/ Queen's Dinners. You cannot win a war of attrition with these two. The only way is to deal ~25 damage to both of them at the same time when they're that low on health.
@@therealgookie give vi all of the buffs you can including poison, spicy berries, this battle shouldn’t be too hard with the right badge combination
I did it without hard buffing a single character somehow.
I don’t like this song, not because of the song itself though, the song’s amazing
*I just don’t like what’s associated with it*
*discovering the devourer early in the game and realize you messed up flashbacks*
@@Noah-ky9ct thats what I thought but still not sure whats the main reason

Devourer be like: Call an Ambulance. But Not for me!
after chapter 2, i wanted to finish some of the sidequests, and on my way to one of them i stumbled upon the path to the devourer. after dying almost immediately, i just ran away.
For theos curious, here's all the bosses that have this theme
-BroodMother
-Mother Chomper
-Devourer
-Peacock Spider
-False Monarch
-Seedling King
-Tidal Wyrm
-Team Maki (Maki, Kina and Yin)
-Team Slacker (Stratos and Delilah)
Tidal Wyrm. You got this theme stuck in my head.
Because of how fucking long your fight took, that's why!
Me 2 days ago (bless crispbee for da donuts)
I fought broodmother before i actually understoot what the heck bounties are!
broodmother is not bounty though
I WOULD fight broodmother, if my game were not glitched and making me not access the quest required to do so.

Found this theme when going after the second world boss without even knowing of bounties. How am I supposed to mash fast enough to deal with the poison cloud, every other attack I can handle, but just not that one for some reason.
Jitter clicking is your friend
Slide your finger back and forth over the button really fast
No One I find it best. Not even to try to move your finger if you tense up your arm ton your finger should start vibrating thus the term “hitter clicking”. It’s weird but there is no faster way to press a button.
Mashing in general was really hard in this game
Aria`s Light it’s not in the hand it’s in the arm
Somehow, I never found the Devourer until it was the last Bounty Boss remaining.
It has so little HP compared to the others that my Chapter 7 team basically stomped all over it.
Same, first I found the Tidal worm while Chapter 4, then Broodmother, then False Monarch, than the (in my opinion hardest of them) Peacock Spider, then I had to search up for Mother Chomper and Devourer.
@@zugiii1086 I found tydal word as last, im surprised you didn't found devourer early in game
I went to Patton to basically re-spec my whole party to prepare for the Team Maki fight only to realize that there's a speedkill strategy that would've worked with my old setup
Yeah I found the seedling king on accident, here I was searching for lore books and next thing I know I see a giant stoner seedling. Thought it would’ve been friendly...until it wasn’t
also this is like the most "boss fight" sounding theme in the game so far
"Oh no, this is the turn where he kills me"
"Hello! This is the turn where I kill you!"
*The turn where he kills you*
In the middle of my second playthrough, first time on hard mode and going hard into medal points. This song captures my feelings perfectly.
Shoutout to False Monarch for being the only bounty boss I didn't manage to beat before the postgame. Turns out that flies hurt when they're tossed at your face at mach 5 speed.
The false monarch is the only bounty boss I beat before the postgame. It’s a pretty easy fight all things considered

You are challenged by Team Slacker Stratos and Delilah.
I beat this game just recently and the first time I heard this theme was when I accidentally came across the false monarch fight. I still don't know where the devourer is.
I figured something was up when the queen had disappeared on me, but I didn't think it was that serious.
Same! I never found that devourer thing by myself!
I fought the Mother Chomper in the middle of doing Chapter 4 and I have never died more times.
My favorite thing about this song is how everyone remembers it for the devourer or team maki, which with the ultime hard menu code enable is one hell of a trip let me tell you (i still have nightmares).
same, everyone remembers it from the devourer and some even remembers it from the false monarch or tidal wyrm

When you find the devourer right after chapter two
My opinion on the bounties (I beat them all during Ch. 6 so idk how hard they’re actually supposed to be)
Seedling King: alright starter, annoying how he keeps sprouting Seedlings
False Monarch: while having the most hp out of everyone, it was the easiest, their attacks were pretty weak and they don’t call backup
Devourer: I was aware of how people say it’s the hardest one and yeah, it was pretty challenging how it called its own goons and steals your members, what I didn’t expect is it having around only 50 hp which made it a lot more simpler than I thought
Tidal Wyrm: this one would’ve been the hardest for me if I didn’t realize I could attack its tail to stun it, still a good challenge
Peacock Spider: like the Seedling King but more annoying, In fact probably the most annoying and difficult bounty out of all of them
I fought the False Monarch today and it summoned 2 Mothfly as backup.
explosives 😃
That DLC was short, and it was generally underwhelming, but goddammit I loved it
It wasn't really DLC lol.
This reminds me of the phantom ganon battle in wind waker. I love how many games and shows that the different songs reminds me off :D
The freaking Devourer...
It decimated me.
in most people's opinion devourer is the hardest because most ppl found it early in game
When you think you're going the right way but nope.
That Devourer can really go to hell, only through sheer grind, luck and good use of medals did I manage to beat him after chapter 2.
Me pulling up to the boss that bullied me in chapter 2 with a single aphid egg ready to end it's life in two turns
When the spider gets out of the bowl you trapped it in and you have no idea where it is:
Devourer right after Chapter 2 destroyed me. Every time I finished a chapter I came back and got destroyed again. Until end of chapter 5. I even defeated Mother Chomper before
so i accidentally found the room that The Devourer was in. and i wasn't entirely prepared (i wasn't at full health and i had some TP left cause i used it in previous battles). i decided to give it a shot anyways just to see how difficult people were making it out to be (which is kind of a stupid move if you wanna go against a difficult enemy. always be prepared)
i somehow beat it on my first try. in fact, i struggled fighting the Mother Chomper more than The Devourer for some reason (the Mother Chomper also gave me my one (and only) game over).
The first 22 seconds really remind me of Ganondorf’s battle themes from OOT or LttP (listen to the bassline & percussion)
This is my favorite battle theme!!!
The song that plays while Kabbu gets ripped to shreds 😔✊
"Show me your strength"
"That's enough
You can do 40 damage in a single turn to the Devourer, but it can still eat a single bug and immediately kill your run.
…It scares me that you can hear “???” in the background at the start of this song.
I have a confession: I beat Team Maki on my first try (legitimately), and I cheesed the Devourer and Mother Chomper with Bubble Shield + Abombination Strats
Do tell. As soon as i realized kabbu taunt + lief bubble shield was broken i never stopped using it.
drawingablankesq Essentially, turn relay to Leif, use Abombination.
@@ASquared544 I like the idea of using the abombinations to restore TP. I wish i had thought of that.
@@drawingablankesq I stole this strat from TheWaverunners in this vid ruclips.net/video/9jKDwPALC7M/видео.html
In case you want to see the strat for yourself.
I guarantee you, a lot of player's first optional boss was Devourer, and my word, they were woefully unprepared.
@@UnkownUnkown01This was before they added that option
See this theme is actually good but all I think of is pain everytime I hear it for two reasons, 1. Mother Chomper (especially early game) 2. The new 1.1 Boss which is arguebly the hardest boss in the game
