I love you Dave. First Thing I do Wednesday morning fortnight (NZ time) is hook up with you. Last Tuesday I had eye surgery and listened to A Gorphell’s Tail. Without the visual distraction I was able to really appreciate the story. You are so funny. The music created psychedelic colours and patterns behind my eyes( possibly helped by the sedatives they gave me). You are an inspiration and a delight.🎉
I also really LOVED “A Gorphell’s Tail”! I would buy the book, it was so entertaining.
Dave this is an amazing quilt! I love the hectic chaos of it. I'm a traditional quilt style person, but you make a person think out the box in regards to colour. I love that you let go of perfection and making sure things match up. Thank you for taking the time to share your quilt making with all of us.

Dave I work the same way especially when I'm designing a quilt. I never know what the end product will be so I make a few blocks, sew a few blocks and eventually I will work out the missing pieces. It's also more satisfying to me than ridigedly following a pattern. I've rarely completed a published pattern as laid out by the designer. Loved your bonkers quilt.

After watching the video today, I have decided your quilt studio is haunted. I watched the small hanging item to the left of the hat on the door moving as you were hanging blocks on the design wall. Then items on the bulletin board were moving as you were ironing. That must be how you get so much done - the spirits in your sewing room help with the piecing at night when you aren't looking. There is no other explanation to how you can finish such awesome quilts in such a short time.
It is definitely haunted in fact I caught a ghost noise on camera once in the robot quilt video and I put it at the very end of the video. Sometimes what you see is the ghost and sometimes it's the ceiling fan 😂

I went on a search for other images of the bonkers layout. The few that I found were a bit bonkers.....but in true Dave style, your quilt is a bit more bonkers than the rest! I love it. Putting a neutral backing on it was a stroke of genius that I'm going to copy - thanks for that.
One other question: Any chance you might get yourself a PO Box any time soon? I keep finding fabrics and thinking, "DAVE NEEDS THAT!" I know your work must cost an arm and a leg in fabric alone - maybe a few of us could help you out a bit?

thank you, it's not a bad idea at all but at this current moment I have *too much* fabric 😳😅 so I would be hesitant to accept it from others 😅 maybe some day though ! 😜👨🏻

I don't sew blocks in order either. I cut a few, piece a few, cut some more, and switch it up as I feel. I am not an assembly line sewist. You are amazing that you got so many blocks done so fast.

I found with the larger quilts it easier to work in pieces. (1/2's or 1/4's) Quilting the pieces individually then joining the pieces.
