This movie is one of my favorites. The bags of Purina lion chow reminds me that I prepped and fed that to two cougars that I cared for at a friend's veterinary clinic, after first walking them around the property.
Great Reaction to this Overlooked Classic....... I own multiple copies and watch it couple times a year..... Michael Caine and Robert Duvall have great and believable chemistry as brothers..... Haley Joel Osment also played in "Forest Gump," "The Sixth Sense," "Artifical Intelligence," "Pay it Forward" (another great overlooked movie), Kyra Sedgwick (Married to Kevin Bacon) starred in a TV called "The Closer" Christian Kane played the Younger Hub Was in TV's "Angel"and "Leverage" and even released a Country music album.....
If you like Robert Duvall in this movie, you will absolutely love him in Lonesome Dove. Both he and Tommy Lee Jones have said it is their best work. A really great western done as a 4 part mini series. Diane Lane, Danny Glover and Angelica Huston also turn in really memorable performances. I’m sure you will really enjoy it.
Great reaction. I always had a soft spot for this film. For obvious reasons, but one more subtle & minor. The illustrations in the adult Walter’s office were done by Berkeley Breathed. He did a fairly well known comic titled *BLOOM COUNTY* that I loved back in the very early 1980s. I also love Robert Duvall. He is well known for *The Godfather* (1972), *The Godfather Part II* (1974), *Apocalypse Now* (1979), *The Great Santini* (1979), & *Tender Mercies* (1983). He also had good turns in *True Grit* (1969), *MASH* (1970) (the film, not the tv show), & *The Apostle* (1997). I believe someone mentioned it in the comments under your *Open Range* reaction, but my favorite Duvall performance was in the Western tv mini-series *Lonesome Dove* (1989), based on the Pulitzer winning novel of the same name. Thank you.
@@okchristina Fantastic, if you enjoy the western genre. From your reaction to *Open Range* I would make that assumption. *Lonesome Dove* is a sweeping epic loosely based on real events, but much more than “cowboys & Indians & cattle.” Hope you have time and enjoy!

My favorite Michael Caine movie is *Dirty Rotten Scoundrels* from 1988 with Steve Martin. And if you liked *Deep Impact,* you should watch *Dante's Peak,* about a volcano.
16:44 “Dumb move, kid”. No, actually an extremely smart move. There is no way Hob would should somebody called Jasmin. That move saved the lioness' life.
Thanks for reacting to this hidden gem! Keep up the great work! :) And PLEASE react to another hidden gem, MASK with Cher and Sam Elliot. NOBODY reacts to it!
Scent of a Woman and Emperor's club. Two other great male coming of age stories, both dramatic in their own ways, both great performances, both criminally forgotten/underrated.
I love movies like this. Something so cute and sweet for everyone to enjoy. I wish Hollywood remember how to make more movies like this. Entertaining enough for adults but simple enough for kids to enjoy as well.
Another Robert Duvall movie is "Broken Trail". One of my favorites but one that seems to have flown under the radar of most people. So sad, I hope that you'll give it a shot.
Love this movie, especially the line, The great Santini starring Robert Duvall and Zulu, which was Michael Caine’s breakout film, and based on a true story
Thank you 😁, Loved the film, the line that get's me all the time every time, loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand, Kind regards Chris.
"You bought a used lion?" Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Mitchel Musso and Jennifer Stone. Pig Wrangler Fact: Haley Joel Osment was attacked by the pig during filming. The lion had numerous trainers and handlers, but no one thought the pig might be a menace. Carl Grimes Award Fact: Since Haley Joel Osment went through puberty during filming, this movie was shot in sequence. As the movie progresses, his voice can be heard getting deeper, especially at the end. The Rest Of The Story Fact: Sir Michael Caine said that early in his career, he once held Sir Sean Connery's hat while he fought and beat four men in a nightclub single-handedly. This may have been the inspiration for the scene in which Hub (Robert Duvall) also fights and defeats four men single-handedly, while Caine and Haley Joel Osment's characters watch. Lion Wrangler Fact: Writer and director Tim McCanlies wrote the lion as a female because he thought it would be easier to keep under control than a male lion. It was not until production began that he found out female lions were actually much more ferocious than male lions. Although Jasmine the Lion is frequently said to be old and weary, Taureg, who played Jasmine, was a young lioness, less than two years old (lions in captivity can live up to 20 to 22 years). Authentic Battle Damage Fact: Christian Kane was injured during filming, which resulted in the scar across his upper lip. In the fight scene with Robert Duvall against the four teens, Travis Willingham was hit three times in the face by Duvall. This was due to a miscommunication. Duvall reportedly told him afterwards that he thought Willingham was a stuntman and that he, Duvall, was supposed to hit him. The cut used was the final one, when Travis' nose finally started to bleed. Location Location Fact: The house used in the film is a real house and is occupied. It differs from the film version in that the set builders added the tower (which is obviously too small for a bedroom) and they added a wrap-around porch to the right of the main porch, along with a fake door between the two windows of the bedroom where the porch was added. Originally the house was white with a silver-painted corrugated metal roof. After the production the house, fence and immediate grounds were returned to their original form but with a white-painted roof. When the homeowners saw the place after it had been dressed and distressed, the wife hyperventilated and nearly passed out. Her husband assured her that the producers would return the home to perfect condition when the movie was completed.
Ooof! That would make me nervous having people mess with my house!! lol Haley's voice did change a bit throughout the movie now that I think about it! Baaaaad piggie!!!!!!!
Not so much that they didn't Lie/Embellish....... Like "The Princess Bride" you are seeing the flashbacks through the Interpretation/Perspective of a Child.......
Very underrated movie... Great Actors...
So glad you did this movie! Such an underrated and beautiful movie. Short, simple and straight to the heart, excellent choice!
This movie is one of my favorites. The bags of Purina lion chow reminds me that I prepped and fed that to two cougars that I cared for at a friend's veterinary clinic, after first walking them around the property.
For a Robert Duvall movie, I recommend "The Great Santini" 1979 & the "Lonesome Dove" miniseries 1989.
Such an under appreciated film. Robert Duvall and Michael Caine are masters of their craft

Hello, this is a good story.
Robert Duvall, " Assai nation Tango ".
Great movie

I'm hearing more and more about Lonesome Dove!!
I first saw Robert Duvall as Ned Pepper in 1969's "True Grit."
I first saw Robert Duvall in To Kill a Mockingbird.
@@jd-zr3vk I might have seen that first, also, as a boy. I didn't remember him from that.
I absolutely love this movie. I’m so glad to see someone else enjoy it

All the comic artwork was done by Berkeley Breathed, who created both Bloom County and Outland, in his inimitable style.
Oh yeah! I recognize it now!
Hello, " Outland " with Frances Sternhagen was an excellent mystery movie.
@clutchpedalreturnsprg7710 completely different thing.
I love this movie.
Me too!
Another Robert Duvall movie is "Broken Trail". One of my favorites but one that seems to have flown under the radar of most people. So sad, I hope that you'll give it a shot.
