There's a great book called Denying the Soul. The author is M. Scott Peck. A great book on necessary pain which is the emotional pain vs physical pain. "Growing old is inevitable growing up this optional". Is a great author he also wrote: The Road Less Travelled and Beating To A Different Drum, etc.. He's not only a great author he was a United States army psychotherapist at the pentagon and he is so humorous and funny. His details of many stories and one of his best audios was self love versus self esteem. Really helped in raising teenagers and understanding myself a little more 😅
