Have trained this elbow as an entry, exactly like this for a long time. And as a full time doorman, I have used it on a few occasions. And I know it works. Great video, thank you!

@joe blogs I don't know -- how hard do you hit? How tough is your enemy? I like this because it hits harder than a punch and has a block built-in. I'd rather have a shotgun, but those are a nuisance to carry around.

Playing with martial arts, kick boxing, boxing, since my early 20s to now....60s, I can say these videos are AWESOME! I always believed in the KISS method, "keep it simple stupid"! That's always the best. By the way.....always learning and thank you.

Lee Morrison and Michiel Mulder are the only individuals that trust for self defense. I’ve been studying martial arts since 1982. These two men are the real deal

This is our bread and butter at the combat jujitsu club where I train. We call it a ‘side stopper’. I reckon 90% of my training injuries are from being on the receiving end of this. It hurts like fuck regardless of where you’re caught. Excellent as a preemptive strike, or against an oncoming opponent; most closed fist attacks or attempts to choke, strangle or grab. Obviously it’s not a final solution and works best with 100% commitment. Did I mention it hurts like fuck?

Did you train some Chinese Xingyiquan or Bajiquan fighting?
That dropping force you use is well developed. (Those systems are pretty no nonsense ones that blast their way with the entire body. )
And I do something very similar to your elbow in. Which works either offense... or when the guy is standing there in front of you and for whatever reason your trying to diffuse. But same time ready for the heymaker or heavy hook.
Whichever shoulder gives a slight dip/roll back: *that's the side the hook is coming from*
So I move IN with that forearm going up on a slight angle like your elbow. Other hand is straight punch to the jaw. Straight always arrives first but the other arm goes up just in case.
It's a Xingyi technique called Exploding. I taught it to a friend of mine. He broke a guys jaw using it right after.

Am I the only one to see the resemblance between Lee and Andy Serkis? How much shorter and better would Lord of the rings have been if he was case at Gollum....five minutes into the movie Gollum walks away from a pile of battered hobbits with the ring whispering "spiky elbows my precious".....roll credits.
Also didn't Brad Pitt kill the big guy at the start of Troy with a sword assisted superman punch?

and then what? I'm sure if you have the right opportunity, you could pull it off. not a huge fan of these self defense videos that dont provide any follow up sequences. gives the feeling of it being guru-ish/unrealistic. if you're claiming to teach real street defense, then how can you ignore the other 95% events that happen surrounding this sequence. u most definitely wont be able to finish anyone with these two strikes, so.... just run away after?
