Canadian here who appreciates the CAD conversion talk👍. Thanks for the review!
1. I love Pawns, space and cost effective!
2. WHERE ARE THE PC PAWN SETS!!! You can't even find them on Ebay any more.
3. I saw Swarms for insects, bats and such. I was expecting to see TROOPS but didn't see them. Are we dropping those?
4. I was expecting to see more NEW artwork. Some of these look a little too familiar for my taste. I mean, it is a new revision. I went and paid for this... I suppose I should not complain because WotC Can't seem to get their act together since the PHB should have been out at the beginning of this year. So, Congratulations Paizo for getting it out when you did.
I fully expect to see those at the table when we next get together.
To those who question Canadian dollars and why there are syringes in Pathfinder:
- Using a different unit of measure creates context. Relax. Not everyone is American.
- There are GUNS in Pathfinder. The concept of a syringe goes waaaaay back, so maybe chill there too.
That Mirage Dragon looks absolutely baller, BTW.
The only thing that always bugs me about pawns is when the art overlaps the cutout and important parts are being cut off
Orcas are considered dolphins. All dolphins fall under the greater family of whales.
I really enjoy the pawns. I have several sets from 1st edition.
I know i will probably get lapidated for this message but. What do you think about "compatibility" with these monsters for use in DnD 5e? I'm still learning to DMing and i'm beggining with 5e, and this seems more "economic" than buying miniatures.
The art styles are different and there are a few monsters in this set that aren't in 5E, but honestly there shouldn't be much of an issue. I've used Pathfinder Pawns in my D&D games before.
Ordered one for the very same reason. Dragons looking different is a non-issue for me, players should have more to worry about when a dragon towers over them than how it does not align with the Monster Manual visuals/name :D
Some SPECIES having different names also not really impactful, you can check on a wiki what exactly is in the box and how much of them to make your better informed decision.
I kinda miss mephits, wanted to DM for new players using mischeavous elemental imps, and what the Monster core collection has is not quite the same, but ah well.
Guess having a finite list of visually representible foes will influence in my monster-of-the-week decisions, but paired with the NPC pack and having my players go mostly against humanoids who are more challenging due to numbers AND teamwork, it shouldn't be too bad.
