    This is by far, one of the greatest instrumental endings to a song. Period. Somersault has a great breakdown at the end, but it can't hold a candle to this. Don't believe me, grab the CD version, get into your car, or go onto your terrace, play it, and see how you feel when it's over. I guarantee you'll rewind it.

    Mozez is absolutely brilliant on this song. Definitely my favorite song with him...but I'm sorry...The instrumental part of this song on the album steals the show. That wasn't easy to say because it's such a grand song, but I just love that optimistic under water feel at the end of the song.

    This man is a fucking sage, I love it.
    I don't get the hype over the instrumental elevator music at the end. It's so odd how so many ppl find that portion more interesting than the gravity of Mozez's musical poem on our perception of time passage, and how our assumption/belief that the sun will rise again tomorrow is what cements us in eternity.
    I'm not trying to be nasty to the instrumentalists; I'm a musician too and I love Zero 7. But it just sounds like repetitive elevator music, kind of depressing IMO.

      you're a musician and you call it "elevator music". The reason it's cool is because it's a simple four-chord structure, but there's a ton of room for improvisation in between those chords, and it builds really nicely. Sort of gets the blood flowing.

      Hey friend, my first reaction is to say, yes - EXACTLY - it's a simple four-chord structure that's often used (abused) in elevator music. Again, I love Zero 7, their artistic output is deeply important to me. But as professional musicians we have to make sure we're not out-sillying each other in overblowing the mundane.
      Simplicity CAN be col, but it's not always a good thing. I 100% disagree with your idea that a repetitive/restricted figured bass lends the improvisor more flexibility. I think the opposite is true - right? Case in point: look what the keyboardist is able to do (live) at the end of 'The Space Between', with the drawn-out, slowly-unfolding and unconventional (almost Prokofievan) chord progression. It's magic and the keyboardist becomes even more powerful than the singer.
      So please understand, I'm not trying to be mean or nitpicky, I'm just being honest what this music sounds like to me. Frankly, improvisation after Morning Song makes meI feel like I'm in a women's shoes floor at Macy's in the early 90's. "Elevator music" is definitely a thing, and my identity as a musician doesn't mean it's off-limits for discussion.
      And I don't even hold it against the musicians for putting it at the end of the album. It makes perfect sense to append a relaxing/bubbly piece at the end to bring everyone back to reality. What kills me though is how people in the comments are actually blabbing about what is essentially interspersed cadence/scale exercises, Someone said "it stole the show".... really? I'm not trying to berate those commenters - of coz music is subjective. But I just can't wrap my head around this one....
      Mozez's performance here is one of the more moving musical moments I've ever experienced, whereas I'd describe the second half as... unremarkable or and afterthought. And yet everyone else is describing the opposite effect. Who knows! That's what art is all about I guess :D

      dremid445 I see what you're saying. I didn't mean to come across as snarky. I like both parts of the song, I'm glad we live in a world where music is subjective. Also, my thought was that most of the time people refer to bossa Nova or lounge music as elevator music, this part sounds a little too fast for those genres. But like I said, music is fairly subjective so who cares anyway?

      @dremid4456 6 лет назад

      Ohmygosh no you did not come off as snarky at all! In fact this may be the most pleasant youtube exchange I've ever seen, haha. Music helps cure us of internalized resentment and opens the door for us to connect, to see disagreement as an opportunity to learn about how someone else is thinking/experiencing.
      Also HAHA bossa nova!!!! That's the one counterexample, in that we'd all be driven to WW3 if we had to listen to it all day.
      And - to be fair - I can understand how people might enjoy the sort of fizzy/tingly feels of the last section. It does make us feel calm/relaxed.

      Not to mention, the real problem here isn't you or me or the video... but rather: who the fuck dared to waltz in here and give this video a dislike? Damn!
