That's always my goal. Anyone can learn and understand this stuff, it just needs to be explained in the right way to make it click for you. I'm glad I was able to provide that for you!
I know how to solve for k but I don’t understand why we set them equal and how that makes it continuous, they’re 2 diff equations so why can you set them equal and why do you plug in th 9? I know that’s what you do but I don’t understand why please help, thanks.
Good question! Check this video out, it talks more about why this works ruclips.net/video/1Yslh5D5EsM/видео.html You want to remember that the method in this video of setting them equal and plugging in x=9 is a shortcut. What you really want to think about is the definition of continuity at a point. Which means you need to make sure that each one sided limit of your function is equal to the output of plugging x=9 into f(x). So make sure each one sided limit equals f(9). Check out that video above and let me know if you still have any questions that weren't answered in there, but that should explain why this shortcut works. You'll see there's other steps explained in that video that basically get you to where you just have the different pieces of the piecewise function with the given x value plugged into them.
never understood this, but you explained it in a way, so that a toddler (me) could understand, thanks
