Please note that you should NOT put extra cleaning solution in the washer. Follow the exact instructions as Craig provided and what it says on the label of the product. Some waterproof products suggest putting it into the wash cycle, DO NOT do that. It will clog the pours of the Gortex lining material. Only apply waterproofing to the exterior of your Klim garments. Great video Craig!
Thanks for the video Craig. I have a Badlands jacket that the main zipper failed after 2 years. They repaired the jacket under warranty. Replaced the zipper. I have been very pleased with my Klim experience. Thanks for the tips on the revitalize, I will look into that.
I have been washing my Klim Badlands jacket and pants 2 times per year and I use the revitalizing spray 2 times as well (a few years I have washed the jacket 3 times depending on the year and where I have been). I wash it an revitalize it at the end of the season in preparation for putting the gear away for the winter. I then do the same sometime mid summer as determined by how the gear looks. I have not had a situation where the water did not bead on the gear. The biggest issue, is getting the armor back into the gear. I have have been using Klim since 2014. I still have the original gear that I use sometimes, but decided to purchase the newer Badlands to gain some of the improvements for ventilation 3 years ago. I have not tested their warranty. Ride safe!
I had holes appear in two pairs of Klim gloves (and extreme sun-fading). Maybe their gloves aren't their best product, but I am very happy with my two jackets from them. Great follow-up video, thanks.
Glad you had a good experience with KLIM. I have a friend who is an off-road motorcycle instructor . He had issues with a jacket zipper and they rejected his claim .
With Bill Gore having worked for the DuPont company here in Delaware, his Gore Tex products have been around here for umm, 40+ years but I’ve never ever seen any of it be waterproof. Boots, gloves, coats, pants, they all leak. I’ve tried Aerostitch, Klim, you name it, over the past 60 years I’ve tried em all. “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.”🎶🎼!
That’s awesome news I was always worried about if i ever had a problem with Klim products. So far so good I haven’t had to deal with a warranty issue. Can’t say the same about Held products though.
Glad you had a good warranty experience. I also use a lot of Klim gear but the only issue I have had was a faulty lining in a pair of gloves and like yours they were replaced with a new pair and no other questions asked.
Pretty good timing on this video. I’ve had the same jacket for about three years or more. I’ve never even washed it let alone treated it with anything. Been wondering if I should or what to use. Thanks, very helpful.
Great video, i have 2 klim Latitude jackets and 2 pairs of gloves which are Gortex. I have been wanting to do the cleaning / waterproofing method for a while. Wasn't sure what to use as many RUclips videos were all over the place. I will be ordering the products you used, thanks for the info 👍 👍
I have always been hesitant to buy Klim because of the cost but will take a closer look next time. Looking forward to the Forma video, I cleaned and re waxed (?) my boots before a long trip and had no issues with them getting soaked.
Good information like usual.I was going to ask if it had anything to do with having a channel but you answered that. Klim is expensive but I guess you get what you pay for. I see kiss in the house 👍
Have you noticed any colour degradation of the klim pants or jacket. In particular the black fabric that accents your jacket shoulders. I'm wondering if UV damage has appeared particularly this year with so much smoke and smog? I doubt Klim would warranty colour fading! Thanks
The gray Latitude jacket does have some wear on it and the gray shows dirt very easily. The black Cordura seems to have held up well, but the leather areas have faded and significant wear. But it is about 6 years old. I imagine you are correct, they will not warranty fading or wear and tear.
I've always been curious- have you ever considered the BMW R1250GS as an adventure bike? I know your experience with the last BMW wasn't exactly a dream.... I know as someone well versed in the world - what your thoughts are on a GS/GSA, I'm strongly considering one
I did consider the GS, it has a long history of traveling the world and a lot of riders love them. After my experience with the K1600 I just wanted to make a clean break and to go back to my local dealer. If I had purchased the GS or RT in the beginning I might still be on a BMW, but who knows. So far I am very pleased with the Tiger.
Good to know Klim will truly back up their products.
Excellent post .... just clicked the BUY NOW button on Amazon

This is great to know, thank you from Montreal!

Trying to decide between Klim or Motoport gear for on road LD touring and it’s good to know how well Klim backs up theirs.
