Tempo is a special album, I flew out underage to SF from Chicago for the release show. Exodus was the first band I ever met, Zet and Walter gave me a signed Thrash of the Titans poster and told me he couldn't even sneak his kids in that night haha I got in with my fake ID and had a blast. Met you all again at the Milwaukee and Chicago shows. Almost 20 years later I've probably seen the band about 40 times.
Episode 5, killer ending to this monumental series with Rick! 16:05 I agree with you Zet, Tempo is a stellar come-back record, one of the greatest to be sure, a long with POSSESSED "Revelations of Oblivion". Never thought I would live to see a proper follow up to "Eyes.." and both Tempo and Revelations are on steady rotation to this day!!⛧🤘
I jammed Force of Habit my freshman year of college on my CD walkman on the bus ride to school everyday in 93.....Rick's lead in Good Day to Die was amazing.
I'm so grateful for the Lesson In Violence live album. To have one last piece of Paul is amazing. I recently bought it again for a crazy price. It's worth every penny. Paul absolutely killed it! Everyone did! It's one of the greatest live albums ever.
i remember talking to rick on the tempo tour at a little bar called whiskey bills in denver ,co rick is a great dude , could not believe i seen exodus play this bar and then got to talk to rick , great night i will always remember
I finally had time to watch all 5 episodes with Rick. Loved it! No better guitar duo than The H Team!! Thanks Rick for sharing your memories and honesty. Go listen to Die Humane!
Awesome series of episodes with Rick. Really happy he's doing so well these days. You know you guys mean a lot to me and it's always nice to see Rick on stage with the band. That's why I always drive down for the Bay shows when I can. Hope to see you in January in Seattle or maybe in February down in Oakland.
My husband & I did the meet&greet with Exodus in London Canada on Bay Strikes Back Tour & was an awesome experience..we since discovered the toxic vault & love watching it. Rick Hunolt videos were so fun to watch..maybe Mark Osegueda or Rob Cavestany would make good guests..
@@ZetrosToxicVault Nice! Still remember buying 'The Ultra-Violence' back in 1987 as a 16 year old kid and thinking it was cool these dudes were pretty much my age. Thought Rob looked bitchin' in his leather jacket leaning against the pillar in that album photo. Great album, lots of really cool riffs. I was a big fan of 'Frolic' and 'Act III' as well.
Exodus is always welcomed in Toronto Canada. Please play The Phoenix again because the volume in that place is very LOUD. I thoroughly enjoyed this 5 part series with Rick and I hope to somehow see him on stage again with Exodus! I wish all the best for Exodus, the alumni, and road crew! You guys have always treated us fans so well over the decades!
Tempo is to me, not only the rebirth of Exodus but the rebirth of thrash that was almost dead and buried in the late 90s early 00s. The whole album is still in my regular play list
ManI loved hearing these stories. Only because you guys were the pioneers. I think about how the different bands had their own sounds and styles. I wonder when or if Satriani had an influence in Ricks at least lead work or was his lessons with Satriani way when he was young. Thats a skill in its self to play lead over the chord change right.
Proud of see exodus in 9/9/2022 in Phoenix, friday night, on my birthday definitely a 18th birthday party some young metalhead wishes, thank you guys!!
great live footage Zetro and Rick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fuckin eh man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Canada Loves ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone was invited to the after party after the recording of the Lesson in Violence recording which was so cool. That was a great show. I didn't know anyone at the party so I ended up leaving. I remember the guys playing Jackson Vs with EMG pickups.
this series has been brilliant!!!! love this type of interview, love hearing the true history of the music i grew up on.....ironically in dublin Ireland
Holy Hell, this is great! thanks I had pleasures on cassette in the 80's . Teacher confiscated it and ST feel like sh** de ja vu till class was over. Till this day I still love both bands. Fabulous disaster was a major favorite album of mine still rocks when I hear it
Thank you Zetro that was fucking sooo cool I love you guys and this interview with Rick was the shit, and I'm glad I got to see you at Starland in Oldbirdge back in April 22 brought me back to 89 when I first saw Exodus and you guys fucking where just a good as the first thing I was you just in ab little older too and took me 3 days to recoup but will with it and thank you for all the musI'd and good times❤🥳🍻
Am I mistaken in thinking that Rick took lessons from Satriani? I thought he Skolnick and Kirk all did. Hey Zetro I'm glad you're back! You rule! Rick! You rule too man! Thank all of you for giving us this music \m/
Dont know if this is too late but yes rick did take lessons from Satriani. think of an 80s bay area player and they probably took lessons from satriani or at least from someone else who did. also sick pfp, testament design right?
Seen you guys on the Tempo tour in Milwaukee at the Rave Bar. Maybe 100 deep. One of my favorite shows but I can tell you guys weren’t healthy. Zetro looks so much better now.
Oh yeah I remember when I seen Exodus on their Tempo of the Damned tour Rick was sitting on the front of the stage as people were entering the venue I did not know who he was at the time thought he might have been a roadie sorry Rick I talked to him very briefly because he seemed like he was in a real piss-ass mood now I know why and then when Exodus came on I couldn't wait for the band take the stage then one by one they entered onto the stage and I'm waiting for Zetro to walk out and here comes a great big Steve Esquivel and I knew right away who it was because I like Defiance and Skin lab I had no idea zetro was not in the Band anymore and Steve was fronting it anyway Steve Esquivel did a good job but I'm glad that Zetro is back where he belongs and Rick definitely left an awesome impression I could not believe how amazing he was on the guitar my brother and I had to stand on the left side of the stage his side the whole show and watch Rick you are a badass on the guitar I I am very impressed

I’ll be got a ticket to your Anaheim show in November. First Exodus show for me, 👍🏻
I'm in the crowd on Rick's side during War Is My Sheppard 🤘🤘🤘. Unforgettable night!

FOH on CD walkman. What a time period 🤘
I did the same thing with my Sony Discman, except not college but high school. I played the shit out of Force of Habit while on the go.
Gary’s is sick too
Gary with the bro cut and the flavor saver, friends don’t let friends etc etc that’s said that H Team shit is lethal !!!

Preferred Zetro on vocals until I heard the live Album with Baloff, but they’re both great for their respective catalogs of songs.
@@80nighttime Yes they are! And both crush it live.
Can't wait to see you guys with Anthrax in Jan!!!
Loved the Rick Hunolt episodes!!! So good to see him doing so well now!!!

Is Rick alright? He loses concentration at times. He pauses when he talks, like he forgets what he's saying.
Years of hard drug and alcohol use bro- gets a lot of us
Thanks for this Exodus fan from the beginning, I met Rick in 92 was cool AF hope he's well and thanks again bro. 🤘☠️
Ride On!!! I'm 3 mins in & really digging this!🤟💀🤟 Thanks Steve! total respect from The Stieghorst's We love ya! 🦋🖤🦋

Zetro is the tops as far as Exodus singers go.

Love you guys, love those albums... your music has always, and still is, a part of my life! #respect
Great stories! Was at Dynamo in 97. Exodus forever 🤘
War Is may be my fav Exodus song ever, and that's crazy since I love the band
Thanks for getting Rick on. Was cool hearing how he got his start. Exodus!!!! ( can’t please everyone, but I liked what I saw)

Zet! Why did you skip over the whole baloff part 2 era?! I'm sure he's got some stories from those tours :)
Tempo is my favorite Exodus album, such a Thrashterpiece !

The "H Team" back in the fucking house!!! I love it!!!
Saw you in Columbus Ohio this year with Testament and Death Angel 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻Thank you For War is my Shepard insert one of the best pits ❤🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️🎈🎈🎈

Well done, watched all episodes! Question though: what about all the bassists? Can we hear how that changed over time and why? Impact on the band?
Lol, I remember commenting at the time "Gary looks like a suburban dad now" and somebody said "I think he is a suburban dad now"

In Rob Dukes 'Put Up Your Dukes" interview with Rick, he does say that he took lessons from Satriani and if you didn't practice, he'd get angry.
Seen you guys on the Tempo tour in Milwaukee at the Rave Bar. Maybe 100 deep. One of my favorite shows but I can tell you guys weren’t healthy. Zetro looks so much better now.
I saw that show! There was like less than 50 people there, but everyone that showed up had a blast!
@@wearedarkspectrum awesome! I remember the guy in front of me kept fucking with Gary and Gary kicked him in the head a few times 😂
Hunolt & Holt was the best guitar duo in Thrash.
OMG those Riffs
Do some more tales from the road episodes with Walt!!!!!!!
Gary's short hair and Polo shirt in the first concert clip! Did Gary get the same shit for cutting his hair like Metallica did?
He looked like Spike from DRI
Short Hair Gary is a legend by now, but adding the clip in this interview introduces him to the younger kids.
would be cool to see a kerry king interview sometime too
You can’t mention thrash without Exodus. Glad to see Rick is doing good but can he still do that huge leap like he did in the Toxic Waltz video? Lol
Zetro you should do an episode with Gene Ambo!
Steve, for your Next podcast, Could you invite Louie Clemente, please?
Why didn't Rick talk anything about his project DieHumane?
How about Alex Skolnick? Or get Phil from Saced Reich!!
Gary with the Supercuts 'do just ain't right.
Rick was/ is EXODUS
We need rob mckillop on here. Do you guys still keep in touch with him or did he just want nothing to do with the past?!?!
He wants nothing to do with it
@@ZetrosToxicVault fair enough. Thanks for the reply! Glad to know you guys really do keep in touch with the fans!
