    Idk how many times I have watched the same svea 123 vids , over and over and over. I love my 2. A 123 and a 123R. When I die . I hope it gets given to a youth that loves to canoe camp

    A good combination stove and cook system. My Svea is 48 years old now and the optimus HE is 5. I attached the key chain to the outside of the windscreen it makes assembling for start up easier. I kept the original Svea pot with my kit too for more cooking options also. Nice video.

      Colin Fletcher the author of "The Complete Walker" warmed his Svea 123 by burning the tea bag paper wrapper under the stove.

    Can it run on heat or iso alcohol?

    • @planetsideagent
      @planetsideagent  2 года назад

      It may but not well. White gas and kerosene require different size jets and the same goes for alcohol. The 123 is jetted for white gas. Actually why bother alcohol stoves are inexpensive or you can make one for free from various cans.

    Great video question do you know if you can use anything other than white gas for fuel ?

    • @planetsideagent
      @planetsideagent  5 месяцев назад

      Different fuels require different size jets. I don't know if alternative jets are available for the 123. I believe the stove was only designed for white gas. There is a web group, Classic Camp Stoves where you might find more information.

    Seva 123 was not designed to simmer. It is designed to boil water for a quick meal. Always cook with the pot lid on to bring water to a boil quicker to keep from waiting fuel.. They run on unleaded car gas or white gas. Simple, fast, set up, easy to refill. runs for about an hour on a full tank. I have two that I have used for 50 years. I like the pot shown in this video. 50 years ago there was a wide variety of nesting pots with lid available from Switzerland and Sweden. Still available a great stove to have for one or two people. I have used mine on a week long ski trip at 20 below with not problems. and cooked for two people.

      Yes, I liked those nesting pots. I have the 2 and 1 quart Sigg pots.
