Aren't there any problems with the gear mesh being dependent on filament diameter / pressure on the filament? Usually gears are quite sensitive to gear mesh. Errors lead to uneven movement.
update: Great extruder after some tweaks and deburring of the plastic housing! I now have two 😁(on both of my printers) Note; I thought that i ordered exactly the same extruder when I ordered the second one, but when closely examined, there are some small (internal) differences like the gear @7:33 being easily removable on one extruder (axle clicks in place), and not removable at all on the other extruder (at least, I didn't dare to bend the plastic so far so I could get the axle out)
I enjoyed your video, better the others I have watched. I have a question though. I know you have to change the esteps to around 415, but what about retraction, specfically direct drive. I currently use 0.5mm distance and around 25mm/s for the speed. Do these change with a bmg or stay the same.
I purchased a BMG clone and it just has 1 gear pushing the filament... I was wondering what all the hype was about until I saw this video. I guess I got a bad clone lol.
Ok you just saved me I got 4 of these and when I set one up on my cr10 mini and did a calibration it was like oh crap this thing is junk but I didn’t think about the massive gear ratio. Back to the drawing board. 🤣👍👍 thanks
I did install it and I tested it out for about a day or two. It's really good for what you're paying. However, I'm waiting on some M10x1 bottoming taps to come in because the threads on the Bowden tube side are tapered, so my compression fittings won't go in until I tap those threads. I could use a pneumatic coupler, but chose to wait until I can fit the compression fittings instead
@@andrewesquivel I have the money to buy any of them I suppose I just don't like overpaying for every addition to my printer, if this performs better than the dual geared extruder I'm using I will be happy. I've been sourcing silent fans lately and it is a tiresome task. It's difficult to find ball bearing based, low amperage fans in various sizes which meet the CFM requirements while remaining under 25dB.
If you fitted this type of extruder then you might have to modify the stepper motor wires otherwise this type of extruder won’t work as it’s not plug and play
These things slip when pushing an insane amount of filament into something like a volcano at ridiculous speeds. For most people though, this is more than enough. Fun fact. If you buy two cheap AliExpress BMGs, you can create a housing that allows you to turn it into a quad drive extruder. More grip than the Bondtech LGX for a fraction of the price
I am pretty sure you are running it backwards although I cant see it making a difference apart from you wont have to change the motor direction in FW or the wiring

Nice video, thanks!
Ordered the cler plastic one one straight away, to use in a direct drive setup with a V6

Can't be a bmg (bondtech multi-gear) if theres only 1 gear 😉
just ordered one from your link.

Just change your esteps
@@noahmcelwey2598 done that and everything is good in fact better than they’ve ever been.
Hey the line doesn't work. Was wondering if you could find another one that works well.
The new triangle labs 2.1 is nice
Just got mine in the mail today installing now lol
These are flawed due to the uneven gear mesh distance on the second gear. They will produce artifacts. That said not everyone would care.
I ordered from your link, did you ever install this and if so how is it doing?

@@timmturner Did you find any good one?
@@grosserboss the one from that store was fine, it took two months to arrive though.
Personally I would order one from Amazon

i am using a transparent bmg clone extruder with bowden setup on ender 3 v2 but have a problem when retraction makes a very loud sound on the extruder
Possibly too high acceleration on retracts. What kind of noise? Did you resolve this?
Probably just normal, because of the higher estep
When I got mine and opened it up to see what was going on inside, a teeny little washer fell out and I'm not sure where it came from...
How is this with a pankake stepper motor in direct drive config? :)
Don't know. I only run bowden setups
Best ever :)
Do you think it will fit on Ender 3 V2?
It doesn't. Sits tight against the lead screw ;)
it will fit any printer . just need a mount and decide direct drive or bowden
@@scaramonga nema mount thingiverse and move it
Works on ender 3 pro?
I use mine on my ender 3 pro's. You'll need to adjust the e steps
How does this compare the flexion extruder?
never used one, so i couldn't say for sure.
Do you know how to fix the slipping? Basically its not printing beacuse it wont bush the filament.

@@M.E63 just estep calibration, no need to change motor direction. If this isn't feeding then you might have a clog
Is this from Mello?
its just a white label product that tons of people sell on aliexpress
the lgx is even better
