  • We're meant to fly Virgin Australia flight 1537 from Hobart to Sydney, but the airline cancelled our flight last minute.
Instead of being stuck in Hobart overnight, we took the last flight to Melbourne then flew a private charter to Sydney Bankstown airport.

Wow, what a great experience (minus the cancellation, of course)! Thank you for sharing the trip with us.

Glad you enjoyed it! Cancellations happen but the most annoying part was they informed us so late. Had we known an hour or two earlier, we would've rebooked with Jetstar.... :s

@@eddiekhoo2046 Yes, that's a big problem in the US. They wait until the last minute often to cancel flights and really leave you with limited options especially if late in the day.

Virgin Australia: I'm sorry Dr Khoo, we've had to cancel your flight.
Eddie: No problem, I'll just hire a private plane and make a video out of this!

I know how hard it is with Elise but plane cancellations happen unfortunately and it’s not anyone’s fault it’s just the way it is i have had it happen to me too

The flight was cancelled due to crew sick leave. I'm pretty sure they would've known about it sooner so would've been nice to inform us at least 2-3 hours before the flight. We could've rebooked on the Jetstar flight that evening.
Anyway, Virgin gave us a $200 voucher and my travel insurance covered the cost of this private flight. So all good :)

Hi Eddie with another awesome video review. Wow, probably one of the toughest situations to want to go to work the next morning and to see your flight to get cancelled😔 In my place if happened to me probably I could have panicked😅
Have you ever flight before with a private jet or that was your first time? I hope at least to reached on time after that difficult situation that happened with the cancellation of the previous flight.
I can't wait for the next video my friend Eddie. Take care and your family always👍🙂👍🙂

We've done private charters for sightseeing, but they're usually short 30 minutes or less flight. This was our first time taking a charter from one city to another and last minute (in the middle of the night). Quite the experience!

Personally I'd prefer to travel commercially unless I wanted to travel on my own schedule and I really had the money to do so.
The aircraft was louder than a 737 and the seats didn't recline much. Also no flight attendant or toilet or meal/drink service. We basically took snacks and drinks from the lounge to consume on the aircraft.

Little Elise seems to be a well seasoned air traveler......wish she had been on my last flight between YVR and Heathrow.....nine solid hours of screaming and crying kids........running up and down the aisles........

We started off doing road trips before 6 months and she seemed good with the car rides. So we tried some domestic flights which she did well with. Then progressed slowly to international flights.
The key is making sure they're fed on time and have enough entertainment to keep them busy. Once up in the air, the sound of the engines normally makes her go to sleep :)
