Thanks for the video. It demonstrates it operating in an actual realistic environment unlike most other reviews that just show it working on perfect shaped and sized potatoes.
Fantastic demonstration Vac Tech. I'm getting a surgery and have to change my diet. Mashed potatos are a big part of it as its low on sodium. Wish it was more studily built. If it lasts six months I will be satisfied.
I know this is an old video, but for potatoes you just have to cut the top and bottom off of the potatoes before you peel it. Gives it a more clean cut and gives you less clean up at the end.
Thanks! Been looking to get one of these since I got a mandoline not too long ago. Prep time would be so minimal with those two objects combined. So thank you for the honest review.
Great little gadget. I like to cook with sweet potatoes, but I have neuropathy in my hands due to side-effects from chemo. This machine helps me peel in literally seconds. The build quality is middling, as you point out, but it is overall a big help for me. Some food waste as potatoes need to be trimmed on the ends if they are too tall to fit properly. 7/10
I received one of these for Christmas. Overall your review is spot on. However, it may be a design change, but my bottom piece that holds and spins the fruit is silver and no longer is removable for cleaning. That is a pain. The top spike is easy enough to clean but the bottom piece, with its many spikes, is a little harder. I wish they hadn't changed that. And I too agree, it seems very flimsy. I would also have paid more for a beefier appliance.
I was wondering for a video recommendation you should do a “ testing food gadgets” video if you look it up on RUclips it’s a popular trend I think you should do it , can you?
I just ordered one of these....my $200 professional orange peeler just bit the Dust ugh this is pretty much Common Sense proof but there are some people that need to be shown and that's all good. You should have SHOWN the fact that you should do oranges and lemons TWICE or three times to get the white stuff off because people just don't think of the stuff on their own 😒 but overall good video the last Lady (video) didn't even take the bottom piece off to show people they can clean it 😳 she's cleaning it with a paper towel or something LOL and she also did not do her lemon twice. I take the Peels and freshen up my garbage disposal in my kitchen sometimes dip it in sugar and make orange and lemon peel candy 😋
I just opened mine up. I am not happy at all with it. The blade is correctly in the arm but before it can make a complete rotation the blade and holder fly out of the arm. Any suggestions?
It does. No problems at all. I just wash the removable parts after using it, and keep the machine clean. I've replaced the blade once, and that extra blade was included.
Uh oh! What broke? Mine hasn't had any issues, but it feels like a cheap gadget. Yours will still be under warranty, so if you can't exchange it, Starfrit should take care of it.
Thanks for the video. It demonstrates it operating in an actual realistic environment unlike most other reviews that just show it working on perfect shaped and sized potatoes.
Thanks! Yep I had to peel a ton of potatoes that needed to be cooked. It made quick work of the task.
great demonstration thank you good sir. this product will be super helpful for me since i had stroke 1.5 yrs ago and lost the use of my left arm
Thanks for watching! It's pretty handy.

What a great idea - I'll have to try that.

Awesome! I like my mandoline too. They're both very handy to have around, when a lot of prep work is involved.
thanks tim dillon

Well put. Glad you like yours!
That’s so cool thank you for sharing this with me I’ll be sure to buy one
I was hoping you would go into changing the blade, but that will be a topic for another video. I have had my Rotato for years and it's not broken yet.
Easy to change the blade.
@@tml184 I just thought a video would help. There are sillier videos out there.

Bought mine at a used store. It was brand ne w still in the box $8 i love it! I hate peeling.
I luv kitchen gadgets.
“Build quality questionable”? What does that mean exactly? Looks pretty good. Thank you for the real use review.
Some of the parts that get a lot of use are made of flimsy plastic. Nothing on mine has broken, but I’m careful with it.

does it do apples?
Thanks for sharing!
yes
Neat gadget I would love to see it peel apples
When you zest the lemon, how much of the white pith comes off?
It shaves a thin layer of it off. You would have to run it through multiple times to shave off all the pith.

Does it peel a watermelon j/k
haha
Can you kindly do a video on how to change the blade please?
It's very easy.
Finally, enslaved rotato
Hahaha!
I tried this with carrots and it didn't work. Any idea why?
but will it peel oranges
It would peel the rind, but leave plenty of the pith on the orange.
@@VacTech1 i beg to differ i have one and it does not peel an orange
@@georgestokes5116 Ah I see. I haven’t done an orange before to be honest. I’m surprised it couldn’t handle it!
I wanted this machine mainly for carrot and also for potatoes definitely. So, does it peel carrot
Yes it sure does.
I'm sending mine back, it doesn't do carrots, not impressed with any of it's peeling, I'm just going to stick with hand peeling
No. I tried carrots.
@@VacTech1 It doesn't work for me with carrots and I don't know why.
Did not show how to insert new blade in the holder.
You should peel MORE potatoes on your next video. Pretty sure we got it after the first 2.
Lol

Make sure it's snapped in.
@@tml184 I took it back.
Grandma Sue in central Indiana
Does this work for circumcisions
Yes it does. Most mohels use this now.
Does it work on cooked potatoes
I can't imagine it would, never tried.
I don’t use those kind of potatoes I use Yukon gold potatoes 🥔 which are golden color softer and faster to cook and less starchy
Eric Weinstein could never
ahahahahah came for this comment
Does it still work good
It does. No problems at all. I just wash the removable parts after using it, and keep the machine clean. I've replaced the blade once, and that extra blade was included.
@@VacTech1 if you don’t mind could you show me which are the removable parts I just got mine in today
@@VacTech1 How do you know when to change blades?
I wonder if you could cut the tops of the potatoe before you Peel then. Also I've never seem anyone Peel a cucumber
Yeah you probably could! I always peel cucumbers lol.
Vac Tech me to lol
I always peel my cucumbers.
How much mony
can it do apples?
yes
Wonder how it holds in a fast-food restaurant ...?
I would recommend something more heavy duty if it’s gonna get a ton of daily use. Mine is still running great though!
Me too
Now do beets.
Does it peel pineapple
That's a good question! I'm not sure it would, as it may clog the blade.
skin is too rough.
This thing broke after just a few potatoes...
Uh oh! What broke? Mine hasn't had any issues, but it feels like a cheap gadget. Yours will still be under warranty, so if you can't exchange it, Starfrit should take care of it.
I can’t believe Eric Weinstein invented this
Starfrit. No other way to pronounce it. Yikes.
Always made of cheap plastic. Too bad.
Too loud!
It is noisy, and not pleasant sounding. It sounds cheap. However it works well!
it looks like a waste of money
I got mine for 8 bucks
Where? Do you like it?@@jojobrown3114
