Congrats on the new mare, you’re going to have to dig a hole for her to stand in for 66😉.
I wish people would realize that when horses are starved thin you can’t just go toss a ton of feed to them to fatten them up fast. Horses aren’t ruminants and need to be slow fed back up to healthy weight or they can colic or founder bad. You’re doing a great thing bringing in these poor critters, feeding them, and finding them new homes!

probably a bunch of tree hugging city people that don't know how to truly take care of farm animals and most times when your farting up a animal is to be butchered Alan and his family are doing what they can for the starving horses

S0 true. If you had watched this series very long you would have known as long ago. These people are trying to rehab horses. The part that's even sadder is that the Navajo reservation cannot support these animals on their own. They do not have the resources nor the farming equipment to grow your own seed or she could go out and buy it. You think this is really important you might want to donate some good horse feed to the reservation or to the farm on 66.

I'm relative new to the channel, so am clearly a bit behind, haha!
I love that saying! I've always told my daughter the exact same thing, but in a less eloquently-put way, haha! Not only is advice best given when asked for, but it should therefore be taken with a grain of salt when given to you unsolicited. It tends to be more opinion than true advice. Advice to me is based on experience and knowledge, not feelings and opinion.
I'll remember this one, Penny lane. Thanks!

It's been my experience of over twenty years in the horse business, training, sales, and, teaching that most of the people that complain about the weight of horses dont have horses and most have never had a horse. Horses are athletes and should be scored on body condition not fat. They are not cattle. Most people over feed and under work their horses. I haven't seen any horses you have or brought to the place in bad enough shape to be worried about. You guys are doing great.

Don't worry, those of us who understand horses know how hard it is to keep weight on a nursing mare. It can take months to bring a emancipated horse back to proper weight. To feed too much grain would be detrimental to their health. Your doing a great job helping the Navajo people and their livestock.

They look great in comparison to what they did. Keep on keeping on. Ignore the critics.

There's a family nor far from where I live, and they throw their hearts and souls into taking in alllllll kinds of farm animals and getting them back to health. Most go to new homes. I drive by that farm every day, I get to see the progress. It's amazing what just a good diet can do!
