    Download times have never really been an issue for me in msfs.. I don't mind waiting for a flight to start. I'm more interested in how much better performance will be in msfs24.. especially in VR.

      YES, this comment exactly.
      I have top of the line hardware 7800x3D, 64GB ram, RTX 4090... and i currently play in VR and i'm wondering if the multi-threading will take advantage of the 8 cores in the CPU bc right now the game is CPU bottlenecked.

      My guess is that performance will be similar to 2020 now, which sounds bad but when you think about how much more detailed the new sim is, it makes sense. Multi core threading will help a lot, and it will help with sceneries and aircraft systems so much since majority won’t be hogging the main thread, in 2020, having animated objects at airports, especially cars, causes so much hurt on the main thread it creates huge stutters, that should fingers crossed be better in 2024. And also, cloud based gaming will rely on more internet than PCs which is good

    Fantastic work for Asobo! I think a dedicated VR development focus in MSFS 2024 will distinguish this Sim/Game from every other. It is possibly the most important VR experience in the world right now.
    Perfecting the VR capabilities of MSFS 2024 opens the market to every VR headset owner and future owner as a Digital Tourist. VR enthusiasts want immersion, and MSFS 2024 offers an unequaled immersive experience. It's the closest thing we have to a digital representation of the world. Full focus on VR in MSFS 2024 will set the standard for all future digital immersive experiences to come.
    It's very exciting. Can't wait to see it in action!

      You better not take that high expectations, more than that ,the technology nowadays is still far from good to play simulators on PC in VR with realistic graphics, just because it can not handle high resolutions smoothly. You probably might still see blurry image in front of your eyes. There is lack of technology on headset displays and GPU sides.

  • @InfoSopher

    17:54 I think this is a question that one needs to understand better... In reality, of course the old consoles can't offer what PC can at this point. But Asobo is a part of MS, so they _can not_ talk down the XBox experience. This is why he used the word "similar". Which can mean all kinds of things.
    In reality, new consoles are coming out. So expect the best 2024 experience on console to be only available on those.

  • @hflx
    @hflx Месяц назад

    I think the issue with that is performance, when they say they download the LOD , for me at least in the msfs2020 the performance is severely impacted when downloading a photogrametry area, probably more complex than others but again, this will now still depend on your CPU and network bandwidth? Maybe they tested this only on lab, let's hope that it has improved that far so it can be really done. I like the idea , or maybe a optional rolling cache for areas you mostly fly so you dont need the network to be that required all the time. Anyway I think having a thin client is ok if that works ok... because the current sim is really heavy to load and 1TB is actually a normal install if you consider all the World Updates, etc.

    The sunlight still looks cartoony. As if there's a bluish "too white" tint to the light, and not golden as if from the sun. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for a new sim but it's something I've noticed since 2000. Almost like they're doing post processing and oversaturating like realtors do when they take pics of a home for sale and the home looks "too good" rather than real like your eye sees.

    So a big unanswered question is if you set your rolling cache to let’s say 1TB, how well will the sim perform since the data may not be written as efficiently to your SSD compared to 2020. They have not been asked any questions on what kind of stress testing has performed on 2024 for both software, network and server side.

    I am hoping that they have been able to leverage more cores in the CPU. I have a 13900KS and reasonably fast DDR5 ram, and I get reasonably good frame for most flying, but this is not with the terrain slider maxed out, and while I have largely conquered bad stutters, in busy airports (LAX as an example) the frame rate still gets slow, and while I don't get bad stutters, I don't get really smooth views. In the current sim, the terrain and Object sliders are the biggest impact. Is it going to be the same in 2024?

    • @tedsword
