I have a couple of Lidl torches. I didn't have a huge amount of hope that a £7 torch would be any good, but that was 8 years ago! Standard 18650 2200mAh cell, 3W Luxeon LED, and can use it as a power bank to charge my phone. It is pretty small and easily goes in a jacket pocket for winter. I also have a 5W one that was 30% off. They all have machined metal cases and rubber seals. No idea how long they last, I just recharge them once a month.
Big fan of Lidl tools and equipment in general and I have several of their rechargeable lights, all of which work well and have lasted. The magnets are powerful and the hooks useful, and have yet to break. My only negative comment is that they cut off completely when the battery needs charging, no warning, no flashing or dimming, just off!! The red light is useful if you break down in darkness, just stick it on the roof facing to the rear. Breakdown man can then see you easily. I've had ring lamps in the past but the soft grip rubber always turns to a sticky mess after a few years, which is annoying when a light costs 30 quid or so! So I avoid them now.
Subbed purely because of the grumpyness. I am at that age too. Loved it. I have the folding Parkside lamp and I really do like it. Yes you do have to scroll through to turn it of but wait, if you leave it on one setting for a minute or two, then one press will turn it off. Technology aye?
Happy new year Jon and Pete a great video! I really rate some of the tools and work stuff in aldi and Lidl some is very good quality and affordable prices
Great little lights bright and can afford to break had there old type for a few years with constant use and have lasted so hopefully these will do the job only thing is the charge time we’ll see how long the battery lasts 👍
There a brilliant bit of kit for the money I had the larger Parkside one stuck on the inside of the roof of my taxi for when folks came to pay so they could see there money/card for payment it worked a treat used it many times during a shift and it rarely needed to be recharged a solid 10 out of 10 from me.
The lamps certainly look like good value. I won't be trying the lamps though as I already have a few similar torches. Generally I find the Parkside tools to be pretty good quality, and excellent value, and with a better warranty than might be expected considering the cost. I think it's about time that Lidl gave you a few freebies to test !
About the 'having to click it four times to switch it off'... Some are semi intelligent. Switch it on to the option you want by pressing it however many times you need to get to the mode you want, then after it's been on for more than a few seconds, a further single press turns it off without a need to scroll through the different modes.
is the red flasher an emergency warning for breakdowns? That can be a requirement in some markets to have some method of warning on-coming traffic. Stick one in your glove box and you have several bases covered.
It's quite clear there is very good value for money, and the red light flashing is a breakdown aid, saying charging a tier on the motorway at night. One of your rivals uses nothing but Parkside tools from lidel on his utube channel for car repairs from copart. Happy New Year to you all
try the equivalents off temu and review? I have just bought some content creation gear for my youtube channel. A tripod arrived yesterday, less than £7 and it's not bad for its price, ideal for just starting out if you have a new youtube channel. I will be doing a review of it for content once my other bits arrive
@@JonCoupland i have a car tyre inflator and a powerful hand blower for blowing water out of channels/window rails on cars, and they are both good little gadgets and are serving me well
On the cheapie torches/flashlights from Temu etc it is often possible to bypass the IC that implements all the modes. Don't know any reason for most of those modes. Just marketing guff.
Time will tell how good they are - for £7 what do you think?
it is lightweight so I wouldn't use it in windy weather but ideal inside a garage freeing up your hands.
Brilliant for that price 🙏

Oh brilliant! That's good to hear and fills us with confidence
I normally just use my head torch.. but at that price you can't go wrong.. nice find guys 👌
@@Jaxs2 it's good to have in the toolbox eh
Starting 2025 the right way, with a lidl bit of light entertainment.
Thanks Rik. HNY 😊👍

Great to hear real world reviews and comments from so many people! Great idea about the flashing red ☺️👍

Happy new year! We aim to do more little impromptu videos like this in 2025 (people seem to like them)

What a great idea!
@@JonCoupland Well car interior lights are generally rubbish in any car if you need to see what your doing clearly
Hi gents brilliant video thanks for all you do and have a great new year 😀 😊 👍 🙂
Happy new year! Thanks for watching

We are yet to have any major issues :)
The flashing red light can be used when night hiking fixed to a backpack. That's what I would use it for.
That's a good idea! We were just thinking solely for garage purposes but really they are used for many different applications aren't they ☺️👍
Have you tried holding the power button for a few seconds to see if it turns straight off? Happy New Year 👍
Oooh we havent but great tip - will try and feed back!

Also some have long press off
happy new year to all the coupland family
Happy New Year! Thanks for being with us

I think you are absolutely right!
The flashing red light is for when you see a pile of cardboard boxes down a back alley, clip onto the roof in Kojak mode and Hit it Danno.
Ha great idea! Im assuming there will be some errant fruit stalls too?

Happy New Year mate :) - no rivals here btw
If you're out fly fishing and it's dark, red light is good because it doesn't destroy your night vision when you have to change your fly.
That's a good point !

Excellent!
Alternator fails, battery goes flat, car stops, no hazard lights so you set your inspection lamp on flashing and clip it to the back of the car.
Yep that makes a lot of sense!
I don't like inspection lamps where you have to scroll through functions to turn it off. I just want light or no light .
That's absolutely the only gripe we have 😂
On the cheapie torches/flashlights from Temu etc it is often possible to bypass the IC that implements all the modes. Don't know any reason for most of those modes. Just marketing guff.
Think we may have to do a Temu challenge next 😂
selamat tahun baru 2025 dari Malaysia🇲🇾👍
Thank you. HNY 🇲🇾
I paid £5.99
Bargain! 😁
I give it 366 days to get past that pesky 1 year warranty.
For £7 I think I'd be ok with that 😂
But I know what you mean!
