    Hi Dan I just found your channel today as I searched for videos about drawing with paint.
    I like your experiment and try something new from time to time and watching your technique inspires me. I might try this with acrylic. Thank you

      Thanks very much, the techniques are harder with acrylic because they dry so fast but I will hopefully be filming some new demos using acrylic paint soon. Try adding a retarder to slow down the drying time or use the heavy body type acrylic.

    I love the way you construct form and space from intuitive, gestural marks. My students love this technique as much as I do.

      It's a great technique to explore and can help to build confidence in anyone unsure how to proceed with their own work. I really appreciate your feedback.

    Fascinating, inspiring, and a wee bit of magic. I think this one of only several times we have seen you create on a vertical plane which is neither here nor there, but interesting. I absolutely live the blended colors - the greens and oranges add a rich depth. Very enjoyable! Thank you.

    • @DanTirels

      It's interesting because the vertical positioning allows more control over the thin plastic paint transfer sheet, I was very pleased with the results of this and thanks for your comments.

      There are a few ways to look at this, I myself began to see a chair and a sort of crouching figure, I try to stop working as I don't want to remove the images I begin to see.

    It's satisfying watching you create. Some of your abstract works suggest figures and faces. In this one I saw a guitar player on the right and a person facing the musician on the left. Probably not intentional? But thanks for allowing us into your creative space.

      It always interesting to hear what others see, I think that is exactly why I like to work this way. The central image I saw was a kind of ornate chair.

    Thanks for showing the process. I like this piece, I like the interesting shapes that emerge with this technique. Question: Do you have a composition or ideas in mind before you get started or do you let the process guide you? 🙏❤️

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  3 месяца назад +1

      I like to free form the first stage, I will often leave the work for a few hours between layers of colour, I spent 2 days over this one so the video doesn't really show the whole thought process. I stop working when I sense the composition is final and seems balanced.

    • @francavan1295
      @francavan1295 3 месяца назад

      @@DanTirels 👍 I understand. The first stage is free form and then you allow the work to suggest shapes and composition. Yeah, there’re is a lot of thinking time for me, too.

    I just found your channel and love every piece Ive seen. Of course, I'm inspired and would like to know what to use as a transfer paper. Is it tracing paper?

    • @a.r.4416

      To my understanding he uses pieces on plastic (bags etc.)

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  Месяц назад

      It's plastic. Very thin sheets, try plastic bags such as bin liners or freezer bags.
