As someone who grew up in an '05 Odyssey, I still think it's one of the best family haulers out there. Nothing feels quite as usable and homely as these things
From what I remember hearing from another reviewer, Honda is skipping the vacuum for one model year due to supplier issues. They say it should be back for 2023 when they get a new supplier.
Your voice is so soothing, sometimes I listen to your videos even when I'm not interested in the car just because you're relaxing and enjoyable to hear
I've had bad experiences with Chrysler minivans, even if the Pacifica has the most features and I would miss not having the stow and go, I don't think I could buy another Chrysler van.
@@InstinctiveFirearmReviews transmission in our 2016 town and country went out at 90k miles. both power door actuators buzz when unlocking, the gear shift knob fell apart, the drivers arm rest is cracking, cruise control doesn't work sometimes, like the button on the steering wheel is stuck. rear shocks had to be replaced and fronts need replaced. We buy cars and drive them until the wheels fall off. I've had trouble with every Chrysler product I've ever owned, and have friends and family that have experienced the same. I should have ponied up and got the Honda or Toyota van.
@@turboaccord1 Do we know if the new Honda or Yoda vans are as good as the older ones? Again mine is a pretty basic van. I will definitely look at other vans when I shop.
@@InstinctiveFirearmReviews The Toyota vans have remained really reliable. Hondas new transmissions and in car electronics are no longer the reliable choice
@@JDMSwervo2001 it's not an '02 Acura TL Type-S kind of problem (where chunks of the transmission would fall off and cause slipping) - it's mostly software issues.
You don’t need to have kids to enjoy owning a minivan!!!!! There needs to be a video that’s made for the people who have no kids that absolutely loves owning a minivan! It is the ultimate vehicle!!
I’m starting to like mini vans more and more but I would get one but I don’t think it would be a good idea to get one if you don’t have your own family
My family got rid of our 2005 odyssey last year since my brother and I are moving out and we didn't need that old van anymore- 310k miles, just regular maintenance. the only thing we replaced was the AC compressor and the starter motor three times. Hondas will run until the metal in the engine fatigues.
The odyssey seriously needs a redesign. It looks so ancient compared to its rivals. Also, Honda needs to drop the timing belts in its v6 engines. It's 2021 after all.
Have a 2015 accord with the V6 those timing belt tensioner they use are junk. Had my timing belt replaced cause the tensioner was leaking., then 19k miles later the tensioner failed again luckily it was under warranty
So shopping for a minivan at end of 2022 and Siennas are great , just nowhere to be found with at least a 6 month wait to get one at msrp. We got tired of waiting for one and ended up testing the Odyssey and quite liked it. Fun fact, the Honda is the only choice if you want the top trim car with seating for 8, all the competitors have their top models seat 7. As another commentator mentioned, Honda vac was taken out due to supplier issues, and that affected also the Sienna’s vacuum AND it’s mini-fridge. Kind fell into buying an Odyssey but agree that it drives better than the Sienna, and probably one of the last years where you’ll get the j35 series v6, as everyone is expecting the next gen to have some form of hybrid power train.
I have a 19' Touring which is the top trim here in Canada, it has 142,000km and Its been great. Some minor electrical issues. What I like about the Odyssey more than the Pacifica and V6 Sienna is that the Honda feels nicer to drive. The engine and transmission are a level above. 27 mpg as well. When I'm hustling our Honda I find the 10 speed really reponsive. The downside is the interior is getting dated as well as the infotainment. LED headlights at night aren't the greatest. Haven't driven the carnival but I would own one just for the design alone.
My dad owns a 2016 Honda Odyssey and it’s only got 125,000km on it, runs great still, I kinda wish my dad owned the Elite or the Touring trim though just for more features like navigation and the entertainment system
Crossovers do not have 2 sliding doors on a remote! Which is a huge selling point! The masses all follow each other, they do not think for themselves. That's why everyone buys crossovers. Plus there is way more room in a minivan then a crossover. If i am on a 2,000 mile road trip, it is a minivan HAND DOWN!!! A crossover is made only to look good, but not as comfortable or functional. Similar to high heel shoes. They look good, but are awful to wear. LOL
Looking for long distance travel comfort? How are the seats for London distance? The interior noise, tire noise, etc? The ride quality over bumpy roads?
I read they got rid of Honda vac because of supply chain issues. Only reason I wouldn’t buy the Toyota is because it’s hybrid. It costs more and repairs could be more costly considering it’s hybrid.
Try getting 8-passenger seating in top trims in the Odyssey’s competitors… you can’t. As far as SUVs, they don’t have the space/packaging that vans offer. If you aren’t sensitive to owning a van, it’s just the way to go.
Chris and Charlie, I certainly agree the Odyssey is thee minivan for track days but can we really justify double the fuel consumption on the school run?
Oh the price is close to a Van RV that is used or I can convert a used van... .I am living in a PT Cruiser.... it sucks but it saves gas when ever it chose to work.... Maybe people will take pity and give me a better job with the minivan thinking I have kids.... LOL
The Odyssey isn’t a great van anymore. The Toyota Sienna is better than the Odyssey now and don’t even get me started on how sweet the 2022 Kia Carnival.
well, yeah, this gen is over 4 years old now, so even with a refresh it's pretty old compared to the newest sienna and carnival (i believe both are less than a year old). when honda comes out with a new gen, the other ones will seem older and the cycle continues.
As someone who grew up in an '05 Odyssey, I still think it's one of the best family haulers out there. Nothing feels quite as usable and homely as these things
agreed; i have a '10 and recently did a 7,000+ mi family trip in comfort and without any issues.
Agree!
My parents are still driving around in their 2004 Odyssey believe it or not
Lets go to odyssey
Just came back from a 12+hr road trip with a toddler and this van is my absolute best friend. Recommend this van to everyone!

Totally agree. Loved this review. It was great to hear their perspective of the odyssey and the competitors, the pros snd cons and how they rank.
