It's amazing to me how much you remind me of a friend I had in grade school. You remind me of her so much. But yeah man, welcome to the world and it's a new world, of Lucy Thomas. She's 19 now and I first encountered her a few years ago when she was 16 and recorded in astonishing version of the totally iconic Leonard Cohen song, Hallelujah. Even if you don't recognize it immediately by the title, it's unlikely that you haven't heard it in a movie or somewhere. And it literally has been covered hundreds of times. It's considered to be fairly challenging to sing, and it's fascinating to see what choices she makes and how she executes it at such a young age. I promise it will grab you so hard. She also has a sister Martha that's about 6 years younger, who is apparently more interested in athletics but she is already such a good singer herself and there are several duets available with Lucy and Martha Thomas, going all the way back, so for example You Lift Me Up. To hear the contrast in both of their voices and abilities in just two or three years, check out a duet of theirs that dropped only four or five weeks ago I think. She adds in her belt on the first and some on the second in places that add to it. At 19 she is certainly a very talented vocalist. And when she sings with her younger sister Martha is a treat. Is she up there with the great female singers? Not yet but she is certainly on her way. She has a wonderful support group. Family, Chris Broom, her vocal coach and her fans. It would be nice to see a collaboration that gets her more noticed globally. I know she has some original songs from the play Rosie and for a television show. But man, can she do a famtastic cover of these songs. She does make them her own and we know it's sometimes better than the original. And she is indeed a very beautiful young woman.
