Waiting for the review. most reviewers focus on the ultra and neglect the base model.
That's because of marketing hype, and usually Samsung's regular base model S- line usually sucks

Its design also looks way better and more modern for me too. The all screen almost zero bezel display it has is just gorgeous. 👌🏼

How do i get it???
I upgraded from an S8+ I used since the year it was released (so for around 6/7 years) to the normal S23 and I love it. Took a while to get used to the size but it's just so compact and nice, the 120hz display is something else.

Watching this on my S23 and hell yeah man, it's absolutely perfect, and trust me, I've had a lot of phones, including pixel 7 pro, iphone 13 pro, Samsung s22, but none of them were just as good as s23, it combines this compact size with powerful specs.

@@sergiorodas7643 So far better than expected, it's my 3rd day with it so still waiting for the battery to optimize, managed to get 6 hours SoT and it will do better in time.

Plus it uses that same 8 gen 2 for galaxy, same as the Ultra. So you’re getting pretty much the same performance.

I've been using my S23 for 1.5 weeks now (since Samsung doesn't understand what a preorder is) and I absolutely love it so far. It's relatively small but still powerful while having the same battery life as last year's S22 Ultra.
The only complaints I have is no autofocus on ultrawide camera, and I wish the frame was matte instead of glossy aluminium so scratches won't be as noticeable. Both of these are just me nitpicking.

@arm 8 it tends to oversharpen a bit sometimes but other than that I'm happy with it
Why do you hate it?
I would recommend the ultra for students or people looking to take digital notes with the pen. However, the pen is really small and for someone with big hands like myself it took some getting used to. If you have the budget it'll always be better to have a tablet or convertable laptop to write notes but if you dont have the budget and need a phone and a laptop/tablet for notes this is the way. Something to consider tho is that a phone cant run all the applications a laptop can. For instance excel is very limited in mobile.
The camera is really insane. It never fails to impress those around you and everyone always asks how its even possible i could get tho shots i do. The audio and screen quality is great but tbvh, all the flagship phones are generally the same. If you need something to consider in the display area it would he the brightness outdoors and for me it works whenever i need it too.
The speakers are really loud and dont ever really lose quality so you'll never have issues there.
Battery life is unmatched really and performance never lacks
I'm using s22 and it's a perfect phone but only problem is the battery. They solved battery problem with S23
It looks great! I just wish they would let you use s-pen with it.
I found it mostly a gimmick but agreed we shouldn't be forced to the Ultra just to get it.

I just upgraded from the s21 Ultra to the s23 Ultra. What a difference! Battery life is almost double!!!
I upgraded from the S22 Ultra to the S21 Ultra. Hated the boxy wider shape. So much harder to hold. Found the S Pen had limited real world use. The battery life was better though, wouldn't say double for those two. The Note shape is literally done to look cool at the expense of being practical. It's a shame they killed the S Ultra line to bring back the Note line. That's what they did in reality.
S23U is a battery beast. Especially for us coming from Exynos regions. But even the Snapdragon regions have a big boost in battery life compared to e.g. S22U and S21U.
I don't like the shape of Ultra. It's like a TV remote. The base model for me is sufficient.

The pro with the ultra i want is the s-pen. When i have to fill out paper and dont want to print then take a pic and send it. Just sounds convenient to just fill it out digitally. Plus digital signatures. Everything else is just a brutal bonus.
Get the plus if you're accustomed to larger devices. I had no idea the 23 was so small, had to swap it for the 23+ and I love it

i cannot even begin to tell you how right you are !!! after useing the S20 ultra (exynos) i had enough of the large size and heating issue when useing the camera, i mean cmon..how often are you gonna use 108mp and the 100x zom ? the S23 regular was the best decision i have taken after the S20 FE (snapdragon model) which i had used before the S20 Ultra

It's good, the S23.
Setting up everything on my first day I'd say you could get 8 hours of screen-on time.
My first day installing apps & doing intensive processes,
I got 5 hours screen-on,
10h 45m screen off
& 35% battery left.
My normal usage habits could easily get two days out of it.
If you're an intense user you'd struggle to kill it in a day.
And in standby with always-on-display (no picture), it drains at about 1% per hour.
I actually think the S23+ is the best out of the lineup. It's right in-between Ultra and base model. I think it's a good sweet spot.

the S23 Ultra is too big for an avg person, So I ended up getting the S23 instead. Camera quality is just like the Iphone 13 pro if not better

I love my s23. Switched from Verizon to TMobile right before my Puerto Rico trip last summer. The picture quality is brilliant!
It looks amazing, as someone who uses the phone to just watch RUclips, listen to music calling. A small phone like that is everything I need. I never use the cameras anyways.
6.1-inch screen is a deal breaker for me
The S23 feels absolutely fluid and smooth and fast at the same time. It's so much better than my previous iOS experience.
Edit: it's been over 6 months and I'm never buying an iPhone again. The only two things that kept me on the iPhone were the smooth animations and the battery life but with the S23 series, Samsung has killed both and did better than the iPhone.

I have the Ultra, but the vanilla or plus models are awesome and if you want a flatter screen then there perfect! I had a s21 plus and ultra and I liked the plus more!

S23 has even worse camera processing. Oversharpning, boosting the Red tones and increasing the contrast unnecessarily. So no way
And the colours are so saturated you can't use it on auto. I had to use pro all the time on a recent trip, because auto was just unnatural. You'd think they could make a decent camera when they're all about quality...

I feel like that there are a few factors as to why this phone is ignored
1) People switch to iPhones or other phones like One Plus , Xiaomi or Google
2) The Galaxy A54 is a really good deal and especially the S23 FE
3) The S22 still works out for some people
But they could make the s23 and s23+ more Squrish shape like the Ultra , that doesn't mean giving s pen , spen must only be present in big display ultra ! .

Have had my s23 for 6 months and I love it. Love the compact size too, my favorite all-time Android phone is the essential phone ph1 and this is a close second.

It's almost so good that I would love to continue on the Galaxy S series, but it kind of sucks to need to use an USB Bluetooth audio dongle to use my headphones without compromising the audio quality more as necessary. It's kinda hilarious on a phone that kinda expensive to have no support for aptX HD, at least.

True, everybody wants review only top end phones but they are too much for an ordinary person like me.
Yeah the ultras are really mostly for hardcore tech enthusiasts, the others on the line have the same chip, similar battery life and mostly the same in storage. Key differences really are the camera, size and some extra ram and 1tb storage option I believe
I used to have the s21, and once I switched to an Ultra phone, the big screen was something I couldn't leave. Love the small form factor and the price reduction though.

The only reason i like the regular Galaxy S is the size, it's compact, pocket friendly, and also powerfull enough (of course because it's flagship), right now i'm using regular Galaxy S21, looking forward to S24 or S25, because this phone is still running good after this 2+ years

I completely agree with your point, I think the baseline model is kind of slept on. However that battery screenshot makes 0 sense. Your top usage is ubereats and then 15 mins of tiktok and twitter. That does not seem like the classic usage. Even put that aside, I don't think it's fair to say "fantastic battery life" for 7hours of screen on time. Good battery is at least 10 hours, and not 10 hours in "OneUi", 10h of real usage
