This week we start the Vanilla Naxx Boss Series with our first video featuring Sapphiron! Being one of the only fights in Vanilla where the Resistance check affects almost every player means that this is a very tough fight for progression and raiders trying to face Kel'Thuzad himself. However for Classic WoW - Are challenges such as Resistance Checks, Consumable Checks and so forth acceptable for modern players? Are these challenges more meaningful than current retail content due to what is needed to overcome them in Vanilla or are they a reason why Blizzard changed their raid design later on?
I recommend switching the title to "BossName - Raserisk's Classic Naxxramas Boss Guide" *1/* I looked at the title and I was like "Who the fk is Raserisk ?" thought it's a boss name lol. You don't want the most important info (the boss name) to be the last word in the title. You want it to be more visible, super visible. *2/* Soon "Classic" will be the official word of referring to the original wow game. So in 2 years people will google "Classic wow leveling guide", not "Vanilla wow leveling guide". So I guess you should use Classic instead of Vanilla, for a couple more views. Great video btw, Keep it up.
being a mage here is great if you like trolling...pop iceblock when he goes into the air at the right time and watch ppl stack behind you only to die XD
@ 6:11 "Every player has to stand behind an ice block, because this ability kills everything in its line of sight". And then in the middle left you see someone just standing there and dies LOL. Sounds about right.
The value of +healing for healers greatly outweighs their individual frost resistance. 70 is too much for a healer to shoot for. If the frost resist piece doesn't also give +healing it's not worth using. So there's only a few pieces worth using such as the t2 head piece. Also, certain set benefits are not worth breaking for frost resist. As a druid, for example, you definitely want to be wearing full t2 for this fight for the extra rejuvenation tick. And if you have full t2.5 with 2/8 t3 as a priest you'll probably want to use that on this fight for the crazy good and mana efficient renews. HoTs are absurdly good for Sapphiron.
Hey man, great videos, like the effort you put in them and the small details :) Also entertaining for people like me, that havent even seen naxx from the outside lol :D
This fight is such a guild buster (I guess all of Naxx is). You just need SO MUCH frost resist gear and items, it tests how committed every single member of your guild is, as even if you're a good player, you will die if you arent personally prepared with FR gear and consumables.
Is it infeasible to turn Sapph 90 degrees (sideways looking from the door) and position the raid in your proposed V shape the entire fight? It seems overkill to spread that much all for the blizzard.
hi, i've benn looking for the FR on forums and they all recomand around 250 FR for all players no matter if they're playing healer or melee. can you explain me why you do not agree with them ? (because that's a big difference)
A lot of guilds prefer to over prepare when it comes to raid content rather than optimizing - typically this might be because they aren't familiar with the fight. Healers only need about 80-110 unbuffed because this fight is very healing focused and you don't want to gimp your +Healing with FR. Caster DPS only want about 130-175 unbuffed because if you put too much on then you won't have enough mana to do consistent damage. I would only recommend 250 if you're a melee DPS or Hunter.
I dont know why i watch your boss guides , but i guess it because of the nostalgia :D Great vids , also the ones from AQ 40. Guess they gonna come in handy with Classic WoW soon :) Btw, where do you get your footage from? Private servers? or just old footage?
question though...is this private server tuned naxx? we've already seen the differences between pserver tuning and whats actually happening in classic in regards to numbers, boss armor values etc etc
Yes all of the guides were originally designed around private server encounters and based on what we've seen in Classic, the bosses will be far easier however there might be 1-2 that prove to be difficult similar to Firemaw or Viscidus.
Yeah, im just wondering about saphs numbers given the discrepencies we've seen on the tuned up pservers. Also the fight duration given how fast most of AQ40 bosses ended up dying...like skeram, fankris etc its like they've just given trash mobs a boss loot table Could well be Saph is the sticking point of the entire raid...well that or 4 horseman whilst tanks learn the fight.
For Warlocks its pretty much BIS until some point in TBC as for Mages since they already have spell hit from their talents I could see them replacing it with Sapphiron/KT trinket however I'm not an expert on that class's BIS list for 1.12
Hey buddy. Not sure if you still check this or not but... Stankydorf wanted me to tell you that he sends his regards. Hope all is well and hope one day share a sunset with you, he told me.
With 200 FR based on Light's Hope's formula for Resistance then you should be seeing up to 47% damage reduction with partial resists but I would only recommend 200 or higher if you're melee.
No, I believe it's coded so that threat keeps being generated while he is in the air so that's why you might hear the Tank or Raid Leader telling casters to watch their threat for when he comes down to the ground
@@Raserisk ahh alright. I'll try to tank him using GBOK when we get to him then (On 4h now so last hurdle before saph). It works for Noth, so perhaps this is a good idea too. Thanks for quick reply
if you're lucky you get the ring on the way to sapphiron. trinkets, cloaks, and funneling FR gear to your most valuable mdps/casters. lacking FR just means the raid takes more damage. vanguard brought 5 druids a couple weeks ago. that's a ton of extra mana (innervate) for the healers (priests), especially in the hands of experienced players like all of them are. all the priests should have been pushing 11-12k mana, chugging potions and demonic runes on cooldown. very doable imo
@@Lorteskovl would be nothing special what other players didnt have done man. if you are wiping in naxx and think its a hard raid go castle nathira even the normal mode is harder than whole classic

LOL I remember that moment at 2:55 - 3:10. I kept chasing sevvy as a joke and it got me killed.

This channel is HIGHLY underrated. Hoping it becomes more popular as people start progressing in Classic.
Another great guide!

I thought that the sec I saw the people in ice on this video xD
Being frost-spec in Naxx is a good troll already.
lmao I did that in wrath
as always, top quality guides!! can't wait for the rest of naxx bosses :)
still using this over two years later!

Wolfgang Romine hahaha nice catch ! It seems he was there to elaborate how dangerous and deadly the breath is lol
This is INSANELY high quality. Great job on this my dude!

Looking forward to the other boss guides. You have the best raid guides for vanilla content. They are so clear and concise
This content is insanely high quality. Thank you for sharing!!
Great guide as always, can't wait for the next one!

Nice guide! My guild just killed Sapp and KT on HC wow!
Love ur guides man. Any plans for making the guides for all the bosses in Naxx?

That double trinket tho. omg
Excellent.
The quality of your guides is insane. Is this your line of work irl?

Can a potion be consumed while frozen/iceblocked?
Its very good guid for old naxx i ever seen befor. Please ,make guid for four hourman 40.
Ez, bring 40 tanks. gg

Raserisk why do Hunters need the same FrR as Melee?
@@fuggipt1 Because they are hunters. Not like they are doing great damage anyways
4:30 what is that set?

Btw, where do you get your footage from? Private servers? or just old footage?
Most of the scenes are filmed using retail since the 1.12 client is way too old for some of these things I try to show the viewer.

OMG YAAAASSSS!!!!
Interesting to see you do not use curse of recklesness and have a lot of dots up. Any reason for that?
Probably to avoid buffing Sapphiron's damage any higher than it needs to be
cant you just skip FR all together and nuke boss?
Could you tell me if nefs tear gets replaced by a trinket in naxx for mages/locks?
For Warlocks its pretty much BIS until some point in TBC as for Mages since they already have spell hit from their talents I could see them replacing it with Sapphiron/KT trinket however I'm not an expert on that class's BIS list for 1.12
Tremendously impressive guide. Ty for your efforts. This is sexy.
What is that addon hes using?

Does Sapphiron reset threat when he goes up in the air and when he comes down?
Not as far as I know.
I haven't killed him in Classic, how much damage could 200 frost resist absorb?
With 200 FR based on Light's Hope's formula for Resistance then you should be seeing up to 47% damage reduction with partial resists but I would only recommend 200 or higher if you're melee.

Fuck me, Slayer's Crest x2...
How do guilds on private servers kill this one in the first ID of naxx release, they can't have 200+ FR there must be a trick.

Guild was clearing first week on our realm using 165 for melee
