Newjeans are very different to other kpop they tend to use 5 main 90s genres that are quite obscure to ones that havent been used in kpop.. their early stuff was 90s RnB which hasnt been prominent in kpop since 2nd gen but not so obscure.. its their other 4 styles that are much less used in kpop and make them stand out imo.. they are all clubland sounds and are 'Mainstream UK garage', 'Jersey Club', 'Miami Bass' and 'Drum and Bass'... The story in OMG is about the negative impact fans (and the industry) can have on kpop idols.. with so much pressure and expectation to portray what the fans want of them they eventually lose their real selves and just becomes slaves or exactly what their fans portray them to be... hanni as the iphone is the most obvious.. existing for the fans singing and dancing whenever they want her to, Minji is seen by fans as the mum of the group so she thinks shes a doctor looking after the girls, Dani sees herself solely as an idol and nothing else totally consumed as an idol, Haerin is seen as a cat by fans so now she thinks she is one and hyein is the princess who the fans want all to themselves so the bear(representing the fans) kills her prince charming because they dont to share her with anyone else. Ditto is the precursor to this and has 2parts a 'side a' and 'b' but those videos show the opposite... the negative impacts idols can have on fans.
OMG MV's storyline is connected to the Ditto MVs (Side A & Side B) storyline so you'll get confused if you haven't watched the Ditto MVs first. But one thing is for sure, once you understand the correlation between the two songs' MVs, you'll appreciate more the depth and art of NewJeans. They aren't like any Kpop groups out there tbh. A Kpop fan since 2009 like me would say so. NewJeans is special in that sense (Note: I didn't use the term Kpop 'stan' since it was only coined around the 3rd Gen era. Though the term 'stan' was inspired by Eminem's song entitled 'Stan' which tackled the issue of a fan who obsessively and religiously follows his fav artist. So why did I suddenly talk about this? Actually, this issue has something to do with Ditto and OMG MVs)
