This whole thing is so exciting to me as a kpop fan. I've never seen a debut marketing strategy like this before (not saying it hasn't happen, I just haven't seen it), and it's so smart. Like the only reason I was instantly invested was because I saw HYBE upload "New Jeans - Attention" and I'm like wth is this song? Who are these girls? Did I miss an announcement? Because usually their social media will flood with images and introductions and teasers for every comeback, and even more so for a debut. But no. It's literally like SURPRISE this is the first b side for a group you haven't heard of, here's the MV, we haven't even told you our names yet, but we want your attention. Then the second track, with the storylines and the MVs is genius. It's a really clever member introduction. The two songs I love. They have a really light sound and vibe. Kind of 90s 00s feeling, and a lovely youthful energy. These girls are babies as far as I know so I appreciate that they're not being boxed into a more mature packaging as well. Even just the fact that I happily sat through multiple replays of Hype Boy to see all the MVs, and the song just grew on me even more. I'm so annoyed that I can't get them on Spotify yet because they're not even out yet. As far as I know there's another track and MV coming tomorrow, and then the official debut with the title track and all that jazz is August 1st. So 4 tracks total, each with at least one MV. Fun! I noticed people on Tiktok absolutely roasting the group name as well, which would be valid if every other kpop group name didn't just look like the label threw together a bunch of scrabble pieces, and I'm talking about the groups I love. 😂I mean who doesn't like new jeans? Also, I saw people already begging ADOR to call their fandom Leggings...which...👏Someone said the New Jeans thing is like jeans are for everybody or whatever, and also means New Genes (as in the new generation -of kpop?). Actually, you're quite incorrect about saying that they are hyping this "boy" but then they found out they're not worth it.. in Hanni's MV, she was happy that she met the white hoodie dancer which actually was a girl. Also, with Minji's MV, you see her with the lime slush dude happy bonding together.
Yeah with the hoodie dancer it did turn out to be wholesome as I mentioned, which was a nice switch to end the series on. And yes you are probably correct about the Minji MV , that's my bad!
I've seen many reactions to this gg and their song 'Hype Boy' and between all the boys reactors, I think you are one of the few that got the message of each story, and I really like your analysis. I think we all can relate to one of the stories because in a certain way we have experienced that, new kpop fans may be experienced those crushes situation and maybe we as adults are like 'oh man yeah I feel that's 😅😅 I've been a kpop fan since I was their age lmao and I've never seen something like that in terms of the marketing thing to make us watch 4 different version of a song lol that was clever. Imo they all have distinctive voice colors for me. Especially Danielle and Hanni. Danielle has that tremble to her voice that depth and seems like she has a good agility to her voice. For Hanni’s voice her name speaks to herself. She has a honey-like voice that litteraly feels like eating a honey. She also has very good mixed voice.
Musically, I dig the vibe of this group, but I have won't a strong opinion until an album comes out. Need them to flex their vocals if they have any and see what other sounds they pull off... But I will say, how the company is handling the group is...peculiar. Debut out of nowhere and different version MVs of a song is interesting to say the least.
