    some additions from someone that got the kamvas 24 about one month ago:
    - if you dont like the donut stand for the pen, there is a hole on the back side of the kamvas where you can just put it inside
    - there ARE fish hooks, but those only occur if you dont use pressure sensitivity or stabilizer ( the effect is more apparent in photoshop than for example clip studio)
    - if you want to use it as a second monitor, be sure it is recognised as the second one or you might get connection problems while booting the thing up
    - be sure you have enough pace on your desk, cause it is huge. it takes about 24 x 64 cm in the almost 90° position
    - still havent figured out how to programm the slider to change your brush size, but it also works with a normal shortcut key
    I really wanted to get myself a second monitor and my small 13 inch lenovo display (cant recommend) started dying on me I just combined those things in one product, have not regretted my decision yet. let's see how it goes from here

    i would say the main thing you missed in the comparison part is that xp pen uses a screen protector while huion uses etched glass. to me, since all else is more or less equal, that makes the huion the absolute, no-brainer winner. i wasn't able to hold out long enough to see reviews first so i bought the huion,and the thing is legit. i've had a blast using it over the last couple weeks and i honestly can't even see myself wanting a wacom now when the huion does absolutely everything i need it to, for less than half the price.

    NO....etched glass lamination is not a marketing term........on the long run etched glass won't scratch.... in a month the xp pen will be covered with scratches, and the Huion screen would still be brand new. Etched glass tablets...they never scratch. If you don't want any scratches on your screen always go full etched glass.
    Also, etched glass is more expensive besides been more resistant it has better contrast and let colors come out almost like looking thru a glass. On the other hand cheap antiglare film, besides scratching, tends to show works colors almost like a milky white. I know this because I had both versions of Cintiq 16 and the pro version, same for my current Huion Kamvas 20 pro. It's not a gimmick.

    • @ragecandy
      @ragecandy 4 года назад +12

      elsevilla!, also yeah huion is absolutely the better choice for the glass alone, it took wacom ages to upgrade to actual textured glass and get rid of the parallax and they only do it in the super expensive pro line to this day... I heard the new 22 huion is even better at that though

      ElSevilla, good to see you here! Being a fan since Deviantart first years. I have a Xp Pen 22R Pro. Been working on this tablet since december 2019 and I found a little scratch in the glass. Not a big deal but anyway still a great tablet. Before this one, I tested a screenless one from Huion (inspiroy WH1409). The only thing I found strange in that tablet was the pen tip. It moved a lot, like it have a very loose spring inside. Although it make the pen nib feel confortable in the screen, when it comes to applying details in drawings it felt a little odd, like drawing with a "rubber pencil". The Wacom and XP Pen stylus had a more steady feeling. Can you tell me if the Huion Kamvas stylus have this "moving" nib too? I never had the opportunity to test one.

      @ElectroFriedBees 4 года назад +1

      @@Popelyu You say you do not use tilt, but you will probably find that you in fact do. Tilt detection is also used for pen direction detection, the direction you tilt the pen will affect the direction the brush stroke orients to, eg. say you have a pallet knife style brush then without tilt you will need to manually change the direction the knife is facing or rotate the canvas to match. With tilt you can simply tilt the pen in the direction you want the knife to face.

    Honestly it's a hit or miss with Huion. So be careful guys. The Customer Service is horrible, if not near nonexistent. I have had a mechanical issue and they take up to 36h+ to answer you for each email and they send you pre-made answers without reading your messages. I am at the point of either suing or demanding a total reimbursement and send the fucker back to them. I am under guarantee and the mechanical error isn't my fault as I have always been careful with my GT-221 pro and tried everything before even reaching out to them. I used it for 2 weeks total and I've had it for a month. Hit or miss guys . Buy at your own risks. I am about to go on a cruisade against them to get actual customer service because I refuse to pay 700$+dollars for a black screen.

    Had the Cintiq 16 for a while now and there's some stuff that Wacom just does so well but I wish there had been a mid-priced 1440p option like those when I bought it. Really a pain for most apps to not be able to mirror either of my monitors to the Wacom because of resolution mismatch and makes a mess of my desktop. That being said the "budget" options are some chonky boys still, basically the same housing and stand my Monoprice branded Parblo from 2015 had.

    I'm close to buying one of these 24" fellas. My main critique point and a thing that made me undecisive was the laminated display discussion and the screenfoil on the xp pen. Because it's the cheaper one right now, wehere i live atleast, and i couldn't even get my hands on the 24 huion pro, even if i wanted, the xp pro 24 is in my shoppingcart since some days. But yeah i was undecisive and having some fear of missing out on a better screen.

    For those that still can't decide between this and the XP-Pen let me give you some info from someone that used them both (for a few minutes honestly) and why I decided to go with the Huion.
    I won't go over the specs, what I can say are the actual differences and pros of each one.
    The XP Pen has better connectivity (who the hell still uses VGA come on Hiuon give us some USBC action)
    The XP Pen has better buttons, to me, the dial feels better and the buttons feel less "cheap".
    The XP Pen has a better looking and better feeling stand but not by much, definitely not a deal-breaker
    The XP Pen to my eyes looks a bit nicer.
    The XP Pen comes with an extra pen, always nice.
    And...
    The Huion has a better screen, that's why I going with it.
    I use my keyboard for shortcuts hence I don't need the buttons or the wheel, I definitely don't care about the looks of the stand, I can accept a worse set of connections and the design is not really that important.
    By better screen ofc I don't mean the panel, that's the same, I mean the laminated glass vs the plastic sheet.
    To me, etched glass just feels better and I don't see "Being able to change the plastic protector" as a benefit, you are changing it because the plastic can't stand the test of time, UNLIKE GLASS. That's just a poor excuse in order to save money and I'm quite mad about it since if the XP Pen had etched glass it would be a no brainer but unfortunately as of right now, I'm leaning towards the Huion.

  • @Xenopticon
    @Xenopticon 3 года назад +2

    You didn't address driver/firmware installation, with which I'm having issues on my Huion Pro 24. That'd be really useful (and basic) info. My issues have yet to be resolved, although I've only had the monitor for around 24 hours. Still, it ought to be an automatic plug-and-play, yet I'm only getting a line to paint about every 2nd or 3rd stroke. (I have an RTX 2070, so it's not likely my GPU.) The "manual" is useless on such points, even accounting for the so-awful-it's-ambiguous engrish in which it's written. So much for localization. I certainly can't call myself a satisfied Huion customer, at this point.
    Additionally, it seems to me that the presence of a dial vs. a slider could make an aesthetic, and potentially a functional usability, difference for interfaces with radial pop-up menus, such as with some functions in Blender.
    I'm also finding the location of the I/O sockets problematic. Because they're on the side of the back panel, instead of centered, they have heavier influence on how I can arrange my workspace, with the provided cables. My laptop needs to be on the right, to shorten the distance from monitor sockets to laptop sockets.
    However, the Windows "extend desktop across two monitors" function seems to require me to drag desktop contents off the /right/ of my laptop screen, in order to position it on my Huion screen, which is (because of socket placement) physically to the /left/ of my laptop. It's really annoying to me to drag to screen right, in order to move something to the left, in the physical world.

    What a bad timing from Huion to send you this tablet that late to review. (Corona related?)
    The Huion Kamvas Plus 22 totally made this tablet obsolete. Now i am just waiting for a 2K Kamvas Plus 22/24" with buttons. And i will say (gladly!) farewall to Wacom forever...

    I am planning on getting the Kamvas 13 soon and maybe the 24 in the future but I wish Huron would make multi-touch versions too like Wacom does. I know it would increase the price but I use my iPad all the time and when I switch to a tablet display like this I always expect for a moment to be able to use touch especially when doing art, no matter how long I have been using the display.

    One glaring difference between XP Pen and Huion this time (surprisingly) is the stand (STANDOO POWAAAAAH!!!)
    XP Pen stand is completely new and much much better than Huion (they used to be so similar, I'm very surprised). The feet/grip at the bottom is better, the locking mechanism is better, and it's not tipsy on lowest angle too...
    .
    .
    For laminated screen, yeah, now it has become a marketing term (thank you Wacom!)... Samsung Galaxy series doesn't use that term but their screen is already as better as laminated one (your cursor is exactly at you put the pen tip)... Also Wacom doesn't use laminated screen on their Cintiq 16 and 22... But several years ago when I compared it with Huion tablet that was marketed to use laminated display, Wacom display feels better than Huion one (and the parallax difference is minimal, you have to stare so hard from angled view to notice the difference). It can be different now though, since XP Pen and Huion keeps updating their products but not Wacom.
    .
    In short, just because they all use the term laminated display, don't think they are all equal. XP Pen and Huion "laminated display" is nothing like Apple's iPad Pro and Samsung's Galaxy display.

    I'm looking into getting my first Pen Display. I'm really torn between Huion Kamvas Pro 24 and Wacom Cintiq 22.
    I'd love to have the resolution and express keys on the Huion, but other than that, I'm very uncertain of the overall quality of Huion tablets. Considering the price on 22+ display tablets, I want the tablet I buy to last me at the very least 3 years.. And so in terms of quality I prefer the Wacom, and especially the Pro Pen 2!

      I wanted to make the very same comment and I found yours by searching! All the vids comparing tablets compare the same sizes, so it's really hard to find opinions when it comes to different sizes.
      Since you made the comment a year ago, did you come to any conclusions by now?
      Btw I watched a vid by Toniko Pantoja ( ruclips.net/video/W_Q_ZASET2E/видео.html 15:50 mark) and he mentioned that he uses a Wacom Cintiq 22 for 8 years now, and he's a professional animator, which means heavy duty use . . . so yeah, wacom doesn't break easily!
      EDIT: I just watched this vid comparing the Cintiq 22 to the XP-Pen 24 Pro which, according to Colbow, is the same as the Huion, and the XP-Pen appears to be the clear winner! ruclips.net/video/W22ACL96U_k/видео.html

    I was interested in buying this display tablet mainly for the size and the 2k screen resolution however it doesn't support type C connection. The Huion 22 Plus offers a type C connection and is slimmer but the resolution seems noticeably low for a 22in screen. All XP-Pen display tablets seem to have a bunch of buyer reviews mentioning how bad the drivers are even on their newer models. I might buy this since its on sale but I have a feeling I will end up having to return it for some small reason.

    Awesome! I was hoping specifically for a comparison between this and xp pen. I have a huion gt156v2, and the scroll bar has basically stopped working which sucks. I also HATE the parallax, due to how I change how I hold the pen, even with calibration, I can be off a 1/3 inch near the edges. Lamination and tilt pens would have the sensors closer. A replacement may be in order and your videos are a big help.
    Thank you!

    • @kimcelinder7085
      @kimcelinder7085 4 года назад +1

      I have the same display and find the same thing, when using the pen in the same direction as calibrated it's fine, but when holding the pen in other directions, it's not very precise. It's also strange to me that almost all reviewers never talk about the precision of the cursor vs the tip, but only about parallax, parallax is the least problem, it's the precision that matters.

    • @12463trf
      @12463trf 4 года назад

      @@kimcelinder7085 I thought those two would be connected; the distance between the pen and display, vs the distance between the tip and cursor. The way the cursor shifts when I tilt the pen makes me think the sensor is higher up, so if it's designed to take tilt into consideration, I would think the tip to cursor accuracy would increase too wouldn't it? I hope to figure that out before I get another tablet, since I hold the pen differently on sketch work vs detail work vs casually, and that discrepancy is frustrating!

    Hello everyone. Can anyone who have used Huion's display tablets give me any advice? Im currently thinking of buying either the Huion Kamvas pro 16 or Wacom Cintiq 16. At first I gravitated towards the Huion Kamvas for the lower price and better specs, but after doing some reading and seeing some videos about Huion brands, I'm really scared as Huion's stuff seem to break down pretty fast for many folks (screens malfunctioning, driver issues, cable breaking etc). People are saying that its a gamble with Huion brands and I really want my first display tablet to atleast last me for some time.
    At the moment I'm thinking of spending the extra $250 and get the wacom cintiq 16, eventhough I really prefer saving that $250 though .. So I wanna know, is there anyone that has had Huion display tablets that has did them good and lasted for a long time? (~6months)

You can actually see how the pressure curve is horrible in this video. The calibration is bad. Tilt causes horrible offset and the pen feels cheap and jumpy. There's a little bit of jitter. Just spend the extra money trust me. A better pen > Prettier Screen

      I've been using Huion's desk tablet, it has been great but there were times when the cable didn't work properly and the driver couldn't recognize the device probably due to the faulty cable. It worked fine again after messing around abit with the wire but it did made me feel a little bit more scared towards Huion products since the reviews I read online about faulty wires did happen to me too so chances are the other problems might also happen too.

    Hi, good morning, how are you? I ended up purchasing this model recently. I loved everything about it, but I have a problem with the colors. On the screen you can notice small vertical scratches, as if the color was missing from those scratches, do you know when the printer ink comes out with a missing color and there are those streaks? the screen looks like this. I tried to manually correct the colors, they decrease a lot, but it ends up pulling too much towards yellow. the scratches are apparently blue, as if there was a lack of color there. Did you have a problem like this, or if you already had to correct the colors, how was the configuration you used?
