Just had to put our ShihTzu, Peanut down yesterday...he would have been 18 years old in November. Your Tzu's are so beautiful, seeing them makes me cry. Thanks for the video.

This is great! This is they way I plan to go with my new little guy. I do like the Teddy Bear face, so I'll have to learn how that's done. I'm sure Becket, my Shih Tzu, will no doubt look a little funny here and there as I get the hang of it. My main goal is to be safe while doing it. Don't want to hurt the little fella.

What a sweet little baby she is. So well behaved. My shih tzu Pixie moves a little more and Im still learning the cut.

That is adorable! Crystal Blue reminds me of my baby that passed in November. Wish I could have groomed my baby. Would have saved a fortune!

this the most helpful video for cutting their hair that I have seen. Good lighting and a pleasant voice.

I just took in a stray dog yesterday. The dog's hair was so matted! I washed her and I cut most of the mats off and washed her again yesterday. My mom and dad took her to the vet and she's actually very healthy. I think she's a shi tzu, and I wish I would of saw this before I cut her hair! I didn't do a bad job but it's no where near as cute as this! I will try this when her hair grows back!

One of the best do-it-yourself videos I have seen! Thanks for doing a great job of filming so we can actually see what you are doing. I feel more confident in attempting this myself. At $50/dog for grooming (plus tip), it's now too expensive to groom two dogs.

Love your video, thanks so much, like you I want to groom my dog myself. I've looked at many video's of grooming and I like this one the best. Half the time people block the camera and you can't see what they are doing, and your narrative is great too. I appreciate you sharing!

Excellent video best one I have seen on youtube and that includes the video's done by professional groomer's. Thank you so much for sharing your dog's haircut with us. I am certainly going to add this to my favorites so I can refer back to it!

I have been cutting my dog for 16 1/2 yrs. I have learned my self from no video. This is a great video for the first timer. Only thing my old dog likes to lay down for the belly. I also shape his ears and tail. He also likes his legs trimmed by hand rather than with the clipper. His is always so handsome!!!

thank you both so much for making this video. I'll be trimming my son Teddy Bear, who is also a Shih Tzu tomorrow, yikes! I've done it once and well, he was embarrassed for awhile until it grew out. we are both hopping for better results tomorrow and feel your video has been very helpful. I'll have the video handy, right next to all my supplies for the trim. wish us luck, and that you again!

So sorry for your loss. My Rascal is getting on in age too, (he's 15) and I know when the time comes that it will be very hard, they really do become an integral part of our families. Please take comfort in knowing that he had a good life with you, and that you will see him again at rainbow bridge. My sincerest condolences .

Thanks this is very helpful, as I have two newbies in my home and just the thought of the expense of grooming is awful after feeding them and vet visits.
I just ordered clippers and I plan to get this started on the oldest as soon as they arrive, then as the eleven week olds hair grows out, I will begin on him..
Thanks to the doggie and owner...

Thank you what a great clear well explained video, I almost feel confident I can tackle my two Shih Tzu's myself. Like you it is costing me to have them groomed although my groomer has reasonable rates two dogs gets pricey. I have the scissors but not the shavers which I must invest in.

Yes it is, however if you are ultra careful it can be done. I have learned so much from the video's here on youtube and have saved a lot of money by doing my dog's haircuts myself. I learned that it is much safer to use clipper's vs scissors.

Thank you for this. Jasper, our very ... different ... little guy doesn't trust his groomers. We rescued him and I'm afraid he was abused. Initially ... we would leave him with the groomer and go run errands. He would become so agitated he would foam at the mouth and his eyes would go red. Now my husband and I, one of us, have to stay with him during the entire process. It's the only way. We are going to use this video and attempt to do this for Jasper ourselves now. Thank you.

Well done. I have a shorkie who I struggle with to groom. He can't stand the sound of the razor and he has a curl to his hair making it more difficult to decide what to do with his face. Thank you for showing me how you do it. I do it similarly but sruggle with the side of the head and ears. I usually cut it shorter in the face/head. I may just try the longer look like your cute puppy.

My MaltiTzu is a real fuss budget, but during her grooming we talk about Crystal Blue's wonderful temperment and, my girl actually behaves a little better. Sometimes, I even sing the Crystal Blue Persusion song just to keep my temperment even as she pulls her legs back and forth while I'm trying to groom her, or I ask her "What would Crystal Blue do?"; really, she was that bad and still kind of is. She has gotten better over the years and she really seems to understand that Crystal Blue's behavior is the ultimate goal. Thank you.

Great tutorial well shot. Kudos to your pet for his patience throughout though he did start off without much hair. I imagine in some cases even pros would have to struggle with unruly pets who don't like being trimmed by strangers with resulting accidents. BTW why couldn't this breed of dogs have been given a different name in the west?

I love this video, it has been very helpful. I have tried several times to cut princes and it turned out to be a disaster. I think one of my problems would be the type of clippers I have which are the basic whal clipper pet clippers. It does come with four different Combs but I'm not sure how to convert an eighth or a quarter or 3/8 or half to your number seven. I also have one of the little trimmers so I'm gonna give it a try tonight. I watched quite a few videos and unfortunately for me I can't afford the really expensive clippers that everyone is using .

    • @cynthiam2611
      @cynthiam2611  7 лет назад

Mary Anne Pirozzi I find that as long as the clippers have an interchangeable blade, they should work just fine. Anything other than that will cut but you'll have to work harder, and won't cut to your satisfaction.

It is impossible for me to even trim my Shih Tzu around the eyes, and I have to pay $20 just for an eye trim. She will sit still for the groomers but for me, NO WAY. She is groomed every six weeks but the hair around her eyes grows at a fast rate, thus between groomings I have to take her in for that eye trim.

I find this comment ironic, in my experience as a dog owner, only time my dogs ever sustained an injury was when they went to a professional, properly trained individual. Stuff happens, if you're going to do this, you have to use care if your a professional or not, As far as trying to save a buck, more like $40.00 bucks and in my case times 4. I don't consider that chicken feed. Besides I get great pleasure in doing it myself, gives me bonding time with my tzus. Just saying!
