Beautifully done. After just watching a hack groomer mistreat a Shih Tzu it is so refreshing to see an artist who treats the dog nicely - as I would want my dog treated. Master with those blending shears. Beautifully done.

My poogle is as behaved as your shih tau, but my poodle-pinscher mix is very hyper (not aggressive). The first time she went to the groomer, she came home weak and groggy. The groomer did not mention anything to us until we just found out my dog was not the same when we brought her home. We thought that the groomer would talk to the owners first if there were any concerns and that they will seek permission if they were to sedate the dog. I was very upset.

Thank you so much for posting this! I groom my sweet little shih tzu, Arabella and she always looks a little choppy, so I was looking for some new techniques. I have never seen anyone use the thinning shears like this, and the puppy looked so cute and the cut looked very even and nicely blended. My main problem is that my baby just rolls over while I try to groom her lol It makes it easy to get her belly haha, but difficult to get the rest of her.

My baby boy needs trimming really bad but he’s almost blind and doesn’t trust many people. I got him after my Uncle passed because nobody else could take him and I couldn’t have him put in a shelter. I love him so much but he looks scruffy!! Lol

Me too! :) Except mine has less gray in the face. She is peaches and cream everywhere, except for a little gray and black on her ears. Shih tzus are just the sweetest dogs, aren't they?
PLEASE, PLEASE BE CAREFUL ANYONE NOT USED TO DOING THIS. THE EARS - MAKE SURE YOU FEEL THE TIP OTHERWISE YOU WILL CUT OFF THE END OF THE EAR - OUCH!!!!! ALSO WHEN DOING UNDER THEIR LEGS PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT CATCH THE LOOSE SKIN - ALWAYS STRETCH THE SKIN WHEN CUTTING. I FIND LAYING MY DOG ON A CHANGING FOAM BABY CHANGER - SO THAT IS DOESN'T HURT THEIR BACKS IS BEST TO AVOID SKIN CUTTING. THIS IS A FANTASTIC VIDEO AND I WILL SAVE THIS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. Great Job! He looks well groomed! Plus you were very gentle with him! But can you tell me how long it really took to do him? I can groom my own little girl but it takes me a bit longer then a professional groomer. I've been grooming her in between our groom shop for 11yrs. I can do it but I have to load up on my pain meds for my back,arthritis whole body. Fyi... Holding them by the chin hairs does not hurt them! You need some control so you can safely trim their face. 😊

Not my shin-tzu, he’s very stubborn when it comes to grooming and bathing. Have to be very careful with the private parts, the legs, and feet.

My shih tzu puppy REALLY needs a trim but she is so hyper and loves people that she thinks you're petting her and she wont hold still. She jumps around to get to you and play. Its so cute but such a pain in the butt. How do people get their dogs to hold still for so long 😭
Treats and praise, it isn't easy but it is so worth training them. Shih Tzu's, if not trained to be groomed can be extremely aggressive. Just do ten minutes brushing every day and give treats and praise throughout and after.

Paru Mahesh lots of treats and repatriation, slowly increase the time on the table (or whatever you groom him on) and don’t expect it to be easy

How do you manage to get the dog to stay so still..Mine will not even sit still whilst i brush them
I was given a beautiful little one year old Shih-tzu girl two weeks ago. When I got her, her fur was very matted underneath. I bought dog clippers and scissors and I've managed to get most of her, but she does not like me going near her face. She has clumps of matted fur getting in her eyes. She doesn't try to bite me, she jerks away and I'm afraid I'm going to accidentally poke her in the eye. Do you have any tips on how to calm her down so I can get around her eyes?
you have to be very patient and calm during grooming face, talk to your dog ang give him a prize when she's standing nice. Eye area is difficult for dog and dangerous for you but if she still jerks away maybe safer you should take her to the groomer

I agree - a busy salon you wouldn't have the time to be going over and over the same area like that. Thinning scissors can mask a multitude of sins or a groomers lack of skill

I'm always amazed how people who own dogs bring their "family pets" to the groomer who looks like that pet has never been brushed since last bringing them in. Also, the lenght of its fur in its eyes. I don't even own a dog. Are they really loving these pets or just having them in the house...let them out to pee and given them food?

only feet? you have to be very patient and calm during grooming feet, talk to your dog ang give him a prize when he's standing nice, and the most important - you have to be a consistent, dont react when your dog is sceaming or fight just be calm and patient, dont give up soon
Hi, so does the #30 and #7fc and the thinning shears come with the shaver kit? Basically, you use #30 for everywhere like paws, chest, legs, neck and head and 7fc for the top of the body?
No, #30 blade is very short blade (0,5 mm) I use #30 to groom only paws and corner the ears, #30 with the snap on comb for example yellow or purple or another to groom body, legs, head or everywhere. When I want a very short cut I use #7FC blade on the body.

I use a snap on comb when I want leave longer hair. When I want a short cut I use blade.
