that will not happen vennell is part of the establishment so will be quietly allowed to disappear from public view. the old bill will not do any proper investigation as they always do when they don't want to find any wrongdoing.

British Justice is there for people who can afford it. "Guilty if you can't pay for Justice"

Many years ago a well known politician called Gerald nembaro, said we have the greatest justice system in the world,as long as you can afford it,

The British legal system is supposed to be one of the finest in the world, yet clearly it does not work for those desperate enough for it to work. It seems like the Hillsborough families and the Postmasters, they have the cards stacked against them

Time for British people to stand up and demand that their politicians do what is right to turn things around for these people who have done nothing wrong, yet have had their lives and their families torn to shreds.

They should all sue the Post Office for all losses and full compensation for the harassment these people endured,
when it was not their fault, and all due to the faulty PO accounting IT software!
Why is they Post Office not suing the Software developers for selling a faulty system?
They should all get compensated by by the PO - not the British taxpayer

Post office is not fit for purpose and should be dismantled and disbanded and the people responsible to be prosecuted and the full force of the law thrown at them. The wheel of justice is always in the court of the rich and powerful. As an ex subposmaster I know fully well how he feels. 🇬🇧

my mother was a sub post mistress. When the Horizon system was being introduced, my mother would complain to them that her manual tallying did not agree with the new Horizon system, eventually someone from either Horizon or the PO turned up. She (my mother) then took them through the entire weeks figures twice and you could see the 2 blokes whispering between themselves about what they thought was happenning. My mother ALWAYS played with striaght dice. My mother essentially refused to use the system un;less she was allowed to do manual balancing. I don't know what happened but she retired from the PO several years later...

Maybe she had weeks she was 'down' and they told her she had to pay to make up the shortfall. It wouldn't surprise me if every single postmaster had at least one week they were 'down' and had to pay something to keep their post office. It could potentially be every single one who has been wronged.

Refusing to pay the money is probably what saved her from prosecution, seems very clear they were systemically using paying the money they said post masters were short as a confession and using that to justify escalating all cases were anyone did to criminal charges of false accounting and fraud, despite the fact that they clearly knew their evidence was unsafe and that the number of cases occuring beggared any rationale belief that these cases were real.

Oh there were always a few minor discrepancies but nothing totaling more than a few pounds. Not thousands even though we had an employee steal cash from us.@@mharris7380

Why did you not run your old accounting system in parallel with the new one for a year? To rely solely on a new accounting system with no check system seems madness to me.

Went into a suspense account then, after a few years, into the PO profits. Then, the PO went after them for the proceeds of crime act to recover the sum lost moneys from these poor people. Stinks doesn't it.

It great Rishi Sunak is outraged and going to do something about this scandal. But where was his outrage 12 months ago, or 6 or even 3? It took a tv show and public anger before he acted. His govt has known about this, and yet he has shown no proactivity at all. He just follows everyone else.

Paying them the money was what they wanted, because they then used that as an admission of guilt, they knew you weren't and used it that way anyway, they belong in jail, as people have died becase of what they've done and because it was so extensive it should be a whole life sentence.
