We aren’t born thinking we’re ugly, but I think something has to influence us to think that. That may be society, other people, etc.
I felt bad when the Asian girl said she would make her eyes bigger, cz I think she's beautiful already. And I hope people stop judging each other cz nobody is perfect
Lina Jazzar she was saying that because of her race. People call her "Asian" therefore the stereotypes of Asians with small eyes has reached her and made her think about her appearance. We are all human. Don't address her as an "Asian girl"
James Chen It doesn't bother me when someone says that i am white.. because i am white..that's the fact.. i don't see a problem there.. she is asian.. why is it bad to say that she is asian.. it is bad to have stereotypes about other races (like that one you pointed out) not to say which race are they.. i sometines say "that girl with brown hair"..or "that blonde girl" when i don't know someone's name..i mean it is not a bad intention..sometimes it is just easier to describe a person that way.. p.s. english is not my first language so don't mind my mistakes.

do you seriousley find that a sad question to ask to kids? I once got asked as a kid '' if you could've prevented something happening to yourself or a person what would you have prevented?''
The last time when all of us were comfortable with our own skin was when people didn't point at us and made fun of what they think are our shortcomings. It's people around you that make you fall out of love with yourself. Never let them overpower you . 💕
It is the best time to have this recommended. So many people now a days care too much about how they look. In reality, at the end of the day no one cares about how you look, because they're too busy dealing with their own imperfections that they think they have. So be who YOU are!
I agree, when they ended the video with that question I realized that the last time I was comfortable in my body was in 5th grade or elementary school. After that I got bullied and slowly realized it was because of how different I was, I was and still am chubby and shy. But being bullied only made it worse now I'm depressed and suffer from extreme social anxiety. And if I could change one thing it would be to have a flat stomach.
+Stacey Ohh I think it starts around middle school...our peers teach us what it is that is considered beautiful, desirable by the opposite gender, etc. We're given messages on what we need to look like, how we need to act, what our personalities need to be, etc. I remember I used to not care what I looked like or what others thought of me..and then in 7th grade, the issues began. It's not just everyone else's fault, obviously, but is definitely a change in how our peers and us begin interacting at that age. And while it definitely gets better out of high school and once you're in college, the competition still is there, of sorts. That's why we need to be people and surround ourselves with people who break the cycle and love people for who and how they are....Being childlike in some ways is not a bad thing at all!
+loveurselv2 This is so true! Hopefully we are all learning to love ourselves for who we are and embracing others true beauty. We are perfectly, #MPERFECT. Beauty is our #MPERFECTions -Mrs. +Mr. MPERFECT
I really went in flashback hearing the children answers to when i was a kid .that creative and innocence fade with time . Its the society that moulds us into being insecure with our self.
This is so true. Society and who you grow up with. Even with constant comments about my bad appearance from my parents as a kid I didnt agree with them until I got older (6th or 7th grade). I used to think i was gorgeous and now i wont leave the house without makeup...
this is like the opposite for me. when i was younger, i used to be conscious of everything about myself. i would get bullied for how i looked. now i'm 15, and i feel completely comfortable with my body. maybe it's because i've grown into my features, or maybe it's because i've realised that every human being is truly beautiful. its taken awhile, and i've only been happy with myself recently, but i really wish that everyone knew how beautiful they were despite the things that made them feel the opposite. so, i just want to say from the bottom of my heart to the person who is reading this: you are so beautiful. don't ever doubt it.
+Hannah Hellraiser Now that you're mature you can easily see that the person making fun of you is the one with the problem. in school, being 'cool' is fitting in, but as soon as you leave school, your eyes open, you become aware of this world and being 'cool' is the exact opposite. appreciate your differences, they are what make you unique, what make you YOU (and you're fucking perfect). I love you and you are beautiful too ;)
it's weird, cause I was also bullied for the same thing, my features and I myself am also 15 I had been sleeping conscious on my appearance and how u look and last year I barely left my house cause I felt as if people were staring at me all the time and I felt very uncomfortable with who I was, but then about end of last year up to now, I've come to realise that there are other people that have problems that are way worse than my little one and that I shouldn't let myself feel down, just because of other people's opinions and that God didn't make a mistake when he had created me, because in his eyes, I am seen as a masterpiece, placed on this once beautiful earth and that even if you feel as if no one will ever love you, there will always be at leads one person who loves you, weather it's your friends or a parent or both your parents.
I remember when I was like 5 or 6 I didnt care about what I wore or what I looked like but now I worry about my clothes and what I look like this video has a great message and executed it perfectly great job guys!
zinnia gibson by saying "you are better " you are actually defeating your own cause. You are confirming that people are of different quality. For people with insecurity issues they will eventually pick it up as people being better than them. You should stop saying "you are better" and instead say "you are amazing" or anything that does not add a *comparison* to others. That's the whole issue here... the entire problem with social pressure is because people get compared to others. P.S. Also; "It's just you, remember that!" With this, you're teaching people to be selfish. They will grow selfish habbits because "It's just me" and gain the general attitude which makes so many relationships fail. If you look at statistics you'll also know that people in relationships who have insecurity issues, have more stable relationships because they like doing things for eachother more. You should tell "Van Nguyen" things like "You are amazing" or "Don't worry about negative thoughts, people can be mean" etc. In the end, we *do* have to work together and you *are* dependant on others. You cannot go around telling people it's not so. You have to teach people to respect and love eachother and not tell the victims of people who don't, that they should do things which will turn them into the same people that were once bullying them. The way you're doing it right now will just fuel a fire. You have to be more neutral. *I am not saying this to offend anyone. I simply see someone actively complementing someone and want to help her with her perspective on it.*
I love this :) When I was about 8 I loved how I looked. Now I've grown to hate just about everything about myself. I envy those children's confidence and innocence. I hope they stay like that
When we hit puberty we begin to experience changes in our physical appearance. We also became conscious of how other people look and how other people look at us. Insecurities then follows. Kid don't experience any of it, because their innocence shields them from the realities of life and let them live in their world of imagination. That is until they hit puberty.
When I got puberty I didn't care. I held the middle finger and even when I had literally no friends I just hung out with my sister. For people who laughed at me because they didn't have spots yet I told them that they would get it eventually. They stopped teasing.
I remember when I asked this question to a fellow classmate, telling him I was simply curious to not make him feel judged, he replied with an answer I will never forget. "I wish I would never think about this question." I have nothing but respect for him.
I was overjoyed to hear the children's responses. I suppose I feared that they would start criticizing their bodies as harshly as we do. The fact that they loved their bodies as much as they did was beautiful. May we all learn to love our bodies as they do! :)
I feel like I would've been the rare kid who would've definitely been more along the lines of the adults since I was conditioned to hate my body at a very young age.
I'm so sorry that you all were exposed to this tainted way of thinking so young. We shouldn't be exposed to it at all - it shouldn't be tolerated. We're all beautiful just the way we are and if something is physically "wrong" with us, that's not for anyone to speak up about it with the intention of amplifying your negative thoughts about yourself. Like we're not self-critical as it is. GOD loves you.
I've hated myself ever since I started third grade. That was the year I started hanging out with a lot of bad people, and I started to see the bad and evil parts of life my mom didn't want me to see. I'm only in 7th grade, and I'm actually ready to die already. I can't handle the stress, the pressure I have to grow up fast, and I can't handle how sad and hurt I am, but I don't know why I'm sad or hurt. I really don't. Sorry for ranting lol, I just needed to release some stress
@@orangecrxsh7777 Good luck with what you're going through but it gets better in the future. My life was pretty awful when I was younger but when i got to high school I got better friends who I could hang with and made me happy. Those kind of people will be there in the future so just hang on and you'll eventually find them.
Actors or not, we all know it's true. Ask an adult what they'd change and they'd be trying to choose between multiple things in their heads. Ask a child what they'd change and they'll choose some cool superpower-ish thing. It's really sad when you think about what people become when growing up in today's society.
Sorry but this is bullshit. I remember as a kid, you'd asked me that question I would have given you half a dozen things I wanted changed ASAP and I don't mean the lack of ability to fly or such nonsense. Also, just about every kid I knew had issues. This film is pure fantasy or taken from some fringe group. It is set up to ignore all those kids that feel horrible about themselves and it just made me angry.
I live in germany and I was bullyed at school because my mom comes from america and speeks english with me...I was the only foreign girl... sooo that builds up depression about everything..
it's very interesting to see the difference in the answears between adults and kids. The reason is because kids in that age hasn't exactly develop the same self awareness as the adults have, which makes them think differently.
Just incase you need to hear this, you are perfectly beautiful and there's nobody in this world who can be exactly like you, hope you will enjoy your unique life.
My math teacher showed us this and we were supposed to give our own input. She asked what we would change and why the little kids didn't feel the same as the adults. This video is amazing and sends a good message. I''m happy some people did this.
This made me cry so much when it was time for the kids to answer the question. It was definitely really inspirational but at the same time also kind of sad to see the loss of innocence of an adult. Like as you grow up you seem to lose certain child-like qualities that are so pure and good because the world just takes it from you, but you don't have to let it happen. You can keep it, or at the very least, take back what was stolen from you.
I'm 15 now and I used to be perfectly fine with my body. (I am considered a normal weight for my age and height). But 2 years ago my older brother started to bully me. Calling me names, and making fun of me for how I looked. He to this day calls me fat on a daily basis. Yesterday he said he saw me at the beach. I said I wasn't at the beach. He said I was the whale swimming in the water. I cry at least 5 times a week about this. But it's not completely about the names he calls me. It's my parents. The fact that they do nothing about it is heartbreaking. My dad will yell at him or send him to his room. But he is at work until 5 every day. And my mom won't do anything unless it's bothering her. He will yell at me calling me fat and I will yell "stop talking to me!" And all my mom ever does is tell us to stop, and sends us both to our rooms. Why should I be punished for being bullied? It's the same as someone getting raped, and then both the people get put in jail. My problem is that I can't say anything. I have tried, but all that ever happens is I get in trouble. I will go to my mom and say "make him stop! I can't deal with this! Why are you letting this happen to me? Why?" And she usually just says that's "it's because we are siblings. Siblings fight and call each other names. It's just what happens." This is so annoying. Why does it matter? Calling someone fat is NEVER ok. Siblings or not. It's just not ok. And for ANYONE to think that it's okay, it's just mind blowing how little they care for others. Saying that "they are just words, they can't kill you." But they can. They can ruin your life. Make you sad. Depressed. And the main cause of suicide is from being verbally or mentally abused. I am abused every day. And there is NOTHING I can do about it.
Demigod Noodles you are beautiful, your brother is probably just jealous. I know how hard it is to not let it get under your skin, but trust me he doesn’t matter. What he says is wrong and you deserve so much more. Stay strong, lots of love❤️❤️
Dear, I can totally relate to this. I have three older brothers and they call me names. I am a little overweight, but in my country, where most of the people are slimmer, I'm considered a whale. One time I mentioned I got a suitor, they laughed in unison and my one of my brothers said "Who would ever wanna date you?" that hurt me, and those words echo throughout my mind until today. They've said worse though. It is indeed more hurtful when the bullying comes within your family. I ditched the guys who tried, because of my lack of confidence. I get that siblings make fun of each other, but this is another level of "making fun of each other".
I think everyone with a brother can relate, I used to let it get to me. But when you grow a lil older it won’t bother you anymore, hes just doing it because he’s bored and it has nothing to do with you. Just like u said; you have a perfectly normal body. Just like you maybe call your brother ugly or stupid sometimes, you dont REALLY mean that. Think about it in that way❤️
It was actually my Dad who'd do something like that in front of everyone else. Like, he'd literally say, "hey everyone, if you don't want the rest of your food give it to her!". I literally grew up thinking I'm really fat and ugly, but now that I'm 17 I realized that I can't even be called overweight. I'm in my perfect weight range and I can't be considered fat at all. But even if I know that I still can't bring myself to love my body at all. It's just heartbreaking for me when I think that my sisters for example don't have to think about that at all.
When I was a kid I was very dark because I played soccer outside in the sun a lot. I used to want to be lighter since there were a lot of white kids in my school and I wanted to fit in with them. A couple of kids even made fun of me for being so dark. They would call me a slave and whip me with jump ropes at recess because of it. But now I kinda wish I was darker. My skin looks a lot healthier when it's darker
Esta Nublado yeah. It would happen every year during the slavery unit during our history lessons and the teacher wouldn't do anything about it. I was the most well behaved kid in the class but I would actually get into more trouble than my classmates over stuff that wasn't even a big deal. Like once I got written up for dropping my pencil during the pledge of allegiance. I hadn't realized until recently that my skin color was probably a factor in how much I got in trouble :(
My dad's colleague once told me I had very pointy ears. She said it was mainly because she just watched lord of the rings and it reminded her of the elves and was so apologetic about accidentally speaking without knowing how offensive the description was.. I actually love them being pointy/elf-like and was confused what was offensive. This made me feel so happy.🤣
It isn't puberty that makes people awkward about their bodies. It's the constant shunning from other people and media, saying that we aren't pretty or good enough. It's the impossible standards that are forced upon us as we grow up, rather than body positive messages. Little children aren't as receptive to these sorts of things, because they haven't been taught that there's anything wrong with who they are. Something terrible happens between being a child and being a teen, and that's called pressure.
I'm going through puberty as we speak with acne glasses braces headgear and old clothes from at least two years ago. What would I change about myself? Nothing. Why? I love my glasses I love my headgear as much as it sores my teeth I love my acne which makes my unique I love my braces with changing colors I love old clothes everybody wonders where I got them from because they want some just like mine even though They can't because they dont sell them anymore and I was just lucky enough to keep mine. I love all my imperfections because they are what make me....ME. My friend thought of herself as ugly and I told her that people will say things to her that fit in three categories. 1.Your a waste of space anything making you feel bad about being alive. 2.Your ugly or worthless anything making you feel well ugly or worthless. 3.Your stupid anything making you feel unintelligent. To her I said that then I said for every one of those times theres a time like this: 1.Your more than a waste of space. Your a good use of space. 2.Your more than ugly or worthless. Your beautiful unique and talented. 3.Your more than stupid. Your a genius with great ideas just waiting to be heard. I'm Allison MacMelivlle and I'm eleven years old. My last name is hard to pronounce so I'm teased about it. I only have about 3 to 5 close friends. I used to be bullied for looking weird and acting weird compared to others. I am Allison MacMelville. And I do not care for how I look. I care about personality. I care about feelings.

Lina Jazzar they were but her where she's from everyone is like tht which is very normal i wonder what made her feel tht way about her beautiful eyes
Lina Jazzar yea I see, that's just sad 😔
Lina Jazzar she was saying that because of her race. People call her "Asian" therefore the stereotypes of Asians with small eyes has reached her and made her think about her appearance. We are all human. Don't address her as an "Asian girl"
James Chen
It doesn't bother me when someone says that i am white.. because i am white..that's the fact.. i don't see a problem there.. she is asian.. why is it bad to say that she is asian.. it is bad to have stereotypes about other races (like that one you pointed out) not to say which race are they..
i sometines say "that girl with brown hair"..or "that blonde girl" when i don't know someone's name..i mean it is not a bad intention..sometimes it is just easier to describe a person that way..
p.s. english is not my first language so don't mind my mistakes.

+loveurselv2 Since when?
Beauty is our #MPERFECTions

this is like the opposite for me. when i was younger, i used to be conscious of everything about myself. i would get bullied for how i looked. now i'm 15, and i feel completely comfortable with my body. maybe it's because i've grown into my features, or maybe it's because i've realised that every human being is truly beautiful. its taken awhile, and i've only been happy with myself recently, but i really wish that everyone knew how beautiful they were despite the things that made them feel the opposite. so, i just want to say from the bottom of my heart to the person who is reading this: you are so beautiful. don't ever doubt it.
I love you and you are beautiful too ;)
it's weird, cause I was also bullied for the same thing, my features and I myself am also 15
it's weird, cause I was also bullied for the same thing, my features and I myself am also 15 I had been sleeping conscious on my appearance and how u look and last year I barely left my house cause I felt as if people were staring at me all the time and I felt very uncomfortable with who I was, but then about end of last year up to now, I've come to realise that there are other people that have problems that are way worse than my little one and that I shouldn't let myself feel down, just because of other people's opinions and that God didn't make a mistake when he had created me, because in his eyes, I am seen as a masterpiece, placed on this once beautiful earth and that even if you feel as if no one will ever love you, there will always be at leads one person who loves you, weather it's your friends or a parent or both your parents.

Girl don't worry about how the world looks at you!!!! In the end, it's just you. Remember that!!!!
zinnia gibson your the sweetest!
Thank you so much!!!! But you are better!!!!
well said :)
zinnia gibson by saying "you are better " you are actually defeating your own cause.
P.S.
Also; "It's just you, remember that!"
With this, you're teaching people to be selfish.

When we hit puberty we begin to experience changes in our physical appearance. We also became conscious of how other people look and how other people look at us. Insecurities then follows.
Kid don't experience any of it, because their innocence shields them from the realities of life and let them live in their world of imagination. That is until they hit puberty.
Underrated comment^^
When I got puberty I didn't care. I held the middle finger and even when I had literally no friends I just hung out with my sister. For people who laughed at me because they didn't have spots yet I told them that they would get it eventually. They stopped teasing.

It's not until they hit puberty, it's until they receive the criticism from the people around them, so it can start long before they begin puberty.

THAT ASIAN GIRL IS SO PRETTY OMG HER EYES LOOK LIKE CRESCENT MOONS I LOVE THEM
I'm 15 now and I used to be perfectly fine with my body.
He is just jealous that he's fat and your the perfect size
I like how adults ask to erase smething but kids actually want to add more

When I was a kid I was very dark because I played soccer outside in the sun a lot. I used to want to be lighter since there were a lot of white kids in my school and I wanted to fit in with them. A couple of kids even made fun of me for being so dark. They would call me a slave and whip me with jump ropes at recess because of it. But now I kinda wish I was darker. My skin looks a lot healthier when it's darker

+ILoveStemi they would call you a slave!?? that is so horrible...
I hadn't realized until recently that my skin color was probably a factor in how much I got in trouble :(
I'd want clear skin, instead of my bad acne. Changing my acne doesn't change who I am
Less touching face. More water, Less sugar.
little girl: "Extra pointy ears"
Me: ohhh how cute💖 Wise choice😉Let's both be looking like a fairy✨(as if you don't already look like one)💖
You'reUnder Agreste or an elf! 🤣
Tanja Sipilä lol
I feel the things we're self conscious about are our strengths.

"No."
Obviously the kids wouldn't say anything because they haven't hit puberty yet. I would definitely change the size of my big ass nose.
Something terrible happens between being a child and being a teen, and that's called pressure.
it is also puberty; hormones & a body that suddenly changes in many ways
I'm going through puberty as we speak with acne glasses braces headgear and old clothes from at least two years ago. What would I change about myself? Nothing. Why? I love my glasses I love my headgear as much as it sores my teeth I love my acne which makes my unique I love my braces with changing colors I love old clothes everybody wonders where I got them from because they want some just like mine even though They can't because they dont sell them anymore and I was just lucky enough to keep mine. I love all my imperfections because they are what make me....ME. My friend thought of herself as ugly and I told her that people will say things to her that fit in three categories.
1.Your a waste of space
anything making you feel bad about being alive.
2.Your ugly or worthless
anything making you feel well ugly or worthless.
3.Your stupid
anything making you feel unintelligent.
To her I said that then I said for every one of those times theres a time like this:
1.Your more than a waste of space.
