- More than 100,000 ethnic Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh have fled the region after it was recaptured by Azerbaijan.
Only a small fraction remain.
That is despite Azerbaijan's assurances that they will be integrated as equal citizens.
Al Jazeera secured exclusive access to the deserted city of Khankendi. Osama Bin Javaid reports from Khankendi, Azerbaijan.

So sad a city with no people, but the good side there is no burning and destruction of property, the buildings and houses.
This is like the movie Zombie or Omega man where the city is empty with no people. Hope peace will be achieved and no more war.

Those Armenian wants to live must be given citizenship by Azerbaijan. Only those war criminals of first Nagorno-Karabak and soldiers who are fighting for separate homeland must be tried under International law. Those who destroyed the houses and damage to the nature also expelled.

Most of Armenians do not want to live in Nagorno Karabakh due to the following main reasons: 1) Some of them are participants in war crimes and tortures against Azerbaijani hostages. They know that, all these facts have been recorded and one day they may answer in court; 2) Half of them are not original residents of Karabakh. They were brought from Armenia or other countires, to change population balance in favor of Armenians and forcly moved Azerbaijanis' houses were given to them. Now, the owners are coming back. 3) Some of them hope to get refugee status in European countries, claiming that Azerbaijan has forced them to leave their houses. 4) As Armenians killed civil Azerbaijanis in 90s, now they think that Azerbaijanis will act in the same way. But Azerbaijan did not target civil people during war (unlike armenians) and now ensures saftey of the Armenian residents if they accept to live as Azerbaijan citizens.
Better to throw out the cancer now before they spread even further...
