The purple & blue tissue you suggested as sky I could see a large pond of water with rocks in the foreground and reflection of white off the water, then a city scape with beautiful clouds & stormy skies above A work of art in itself! 0:45

You let the natural pitch and tone of your voice slip through a few times, and I must say that it sounds more pleasant than the one octave higher voice you use most of the time (bc it sounds more natural). I do that same thing sometimes - change my voice to a higher, more "feminine" pitch, bc I'm self conscious of my natural voice, which is raspy and a bit lower than most women. I think everyone is self conscious about their voice, but your natural voice is beautiful. ❤

I love the time that you've taken to talk about Egon Schiele and how you are inspired by him. I hadn't heard of this artist before, but am now finding his work so interesting. I think the time that you take to talk about your inspiration is one of the things that makes your channel so special (I learnt about Georgia O'Keefe from one of your videos too and subsequently watched a documentary about her life). It is also wonderful that you are continually experimenting and developing your practice.

Beautiful. Thank you for your openness and sharing your growth and creativity as an artist. Your guidance has allowed me to be unafraid as I experiment and create. I ask myself all the time, "What can I do if I let go of fear?" Creativity is a space where what you do should be judgment free, where you simply do your thing with limitless options and potential. I find the process fires all my synapses and releases endorphins. It relaxes me and I flow into the sparking of new ideas as my creative brain lets go.

You've generated a genuine spark of inspiration in me with this video, between your work and the images from Schiele. (The final E is voiced like a short e as in "met" -- and what a fabulous face he had for self portrait!) I can't describe what a big deal that is for me, to have inspiration for a project that is personal and not entirely derivative. Thank you! I need to order a print of this one as a reminder.

I was fortunate to see a retrospective exhibit of Egon Schiele’s work in Paris in 2018. Schiele is pronounced ‘shee-lay’ with emphasis on the first syllable; at least, that was how the presenter on the narration pronounced it. The exhibit was amazing, memorable!

They didn't give any hope for getting any function back and I am already walking some. N ow to just keep on keeping on till I have enough use of my hand to do some art. I know it will not look the same put it will be a step forward.

I started watching your video a few weeks ago. Saw the cover of the Schiele book and was hooked. After researching him I purchased the book. It is great. Traveled in the Czech Republic a few years ago and took so many pictures of the villages and countryside. His art says it all for me. So much of what he captured in his work is still there today. He is an inspiration for me as well. But his work is deceptively simple!

I feel like I have experienced a semester of graduate work on layering, defined sectioning, and mixing materials and tools. Breaking established rules in art (and writing poetry) is good for humanity.

Shawn, I have this book! And it's one of my absolute _favourites._ I'm delighted that you've created a video devoted to it.
I guarantee you'll get something new out of it every time you pick it up. For years, I only associated Schiele [It's "EGG-on Sheila", btw! 😂] with his figurative work. I only stumbled upon this book of his landscapes about 10 yrs ago in my local library and was immediately bowled over. You've highlighted my two favourite pieces as well.
I've actually used his work as inspiration for textile collage too - it really is a lovely sourcebook to work from. Love your videos, and thank you for sharing the 🥚🍳🔛 love!

I have just started making collage papers and so far your idea is the first that has actually really got me excited about doing collage! It was very helpful to see the process as I have never done collage before. Did you varnish it at the end? Recently, I have been doing Pan Pastels‘s on my gelli plates and then pulling it with a mat medium or an iridescent, medium onto old sheet music and wet strength tissue paper. What’s nice is that the pastel is then set with no rubbing off.
