I'm so glad I got to be a kid during the 80s and got to experience this style of monster truck racing as it was growing. Back when they were REAL trucks.
@ 10:40 GraveDigger run close to the one in Freedom Hall in '89
Boy AWESOME KONG sure came flyin down the middle of the track, nearly missed that track official.

Thanks for uploading this rarity I never knew there was a second night for the TNT 88 Point championship event
Best thing I've gotten for Christmas this year!
Between night 1 and night 2 they swapped the track out from a 3-jump course to a 2-jump. First time I think in the series that they did a track change.
Never noticed that. It doesn't look like just removed the two car stack. It looks like they moved the crush cars. Very odd.
@@skittlecar1 I suspect drivers were asking to have it changed, so they moved the two-car hill and added it to the larger stack, and kept that setup in 89 and 90.
Great observation! However, TNT Motorsports changed the track in the 2 night show back in the St. Paul, Minnesota shows on January 8 & 9, 1988. They started with a hill, 5 cars, a second hill, then 7 cars. They later removed the second hill in an attempt to give the drivers a chance to get more speed on the final jump, much like they did again here.
Great upload, never seen this before.
Wow Brett Engleman running TNT

Was this a points event and if Bigfoot would have won the second night with USA 1 breaking how close would Bigfoot have gotten?
+DWM2309 Bigfoot finished out the season with more points overall, but the series was decided by the top 75% of your finishes so Bigfoot only fell a tad short. This was still a points race, but mathematically USA-1 had already won the championship. They did keep very good track of their points over at TNT so they could usually figure out a race or two before the end what each truck would have had to finish to win the season. Bigfoot winning on night 1 would have not for certain won the championship, but it may have taken him to night 2 and then who knows. USA-1 had put themselves right where they needed to be. The other thing that happened was Bigfoot being DQed in the finals and Kong's points being voided by his simultaneous DQ on night 1 really hurt the Bigfoot team in respect to where they stood in the points versus USA-1.
16:13 someday it happened
