Thanks for the detailed review. I'm upgrading from the gen 1 to this one for only $50, with trade-in promo. The improvements seem iterative, rather than having major innovations, but that's the norm nowadays (e.g., Apple & Samsung).
Hi Emma, I haven't not with Blink. However, I do own several Yi Home Cameras and it works well. Once setup its simply a case of asking to see the 'named' camera and it works fine, although I tend I use the Yi Home app on my phone more probably due to needing to see the camera(s) when I not near the Echo Show. I would imagine the Blink system will work just as well.
Wondering if they fixed the bluetooth problem. I bought this to upgrade from my 1st generation but the bluetooth wouldn't connect to my various bluetooth speakers/earbuds. I sent it back.
Hi Lee, as you mention perhaps the main difference between the Echo Show 15 and this (aside from the higher price) is the size of the screen which although you can buy a floor mount for it is designed to be placed on the wall. I haven't used one myself, but the larger screen and the fact it comes with Fire TV might be a choice decider for some. However, if the purpose is to use it as a TV then keep in mind it doesn't come with a remote which would make it easier to use, the speakers aren't as good, it only has a 5MP camera, it's two years older than the Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen) and it doesn't come with a built-in Zigbee smart home hub. Having a floor mount (as the Echo Show 8 does) also makes it easier to move around and adjust if you need to. These are just my thoughts though.
Hi Saudaminishah, thank you for the comment 🙂. It is a smart home hub if thats what you mean and it can reach devices located at distance, but this will be down to the network they are on. For example, if your internet covers 100m (or more) and you put this device on the same network (internet) it will work fine. So the answer is yes 🙂
Hi Rob, thanks for the comment and question 🙂! I would imagine if you can connect your heating control to the Alexa device then by default it's wireless, and if it anything like our thermostat then geo fencing works without needing an Alexa device, as it detects the phone when you close to home switching the heating on.
Hi Graeme! It's a great question but I don't think it does. The device links to your Amazon Prime photos, where although I have short home/family videos, none of them play. I will have a look again soon and if I see anything which shows it can I will let you know 🙂
The Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen) is a fantastic device but will you get one? Let me know your thoughts about it below
just grabbed one on Amazon Prime day (today)
@@seofonrice Fantastic time to buy one! Thanks seoforice 🙂

Have you tried using the Blink mini cameras with this?

is it good for SmartHome? Does it hear commands from 100metre range? similar to Echo Dot?

@@james_newall thank you so much 😊
Could i use geo fencing with my phone so when i get near home it turns the heating on?

I use it with the old echo show 8. this has nothing to do with the echo show line.
Still unavailable in Aussie land! Been hanging for one
Hi Jack, I just had a look and you're right! Here's hoping you can get one soon 🙂!
@james_newell I know this can play back photos but can it play back little videos that I've made with my iPhone?
