Good morning, your work is very good, the Pigs are much happier and healthier being raised the way you do, God bless your work, won 1 more subscriber from Brazil
Jordan I just joined your channel so I have a lot of catching up to do. First of all thank you for your service in the military as well as your service to wannabe farmers like myself. Most videos on pastured pigs are either for hobby farmers or never give you the important stuff like how big is the pasture, how often the moves, how many pigs etc. etc. Yours is just the opposite. Thank you so much. David Carlile in Texas
I'd love to see the tote feeder it looks pretty interesting especially cause i have a few that have some small cracks that i can't use for water anymore. But i was wondering have yall used any tuber crops in your overseeding mixes. Like radish or potatoes even? Intrested to see if they could provide an extra food source to give the pigs out on the pastures
Did you ever think about planting peanuts 🥜 so the pigs 🐖 could eat them so you could get a nut finished pork or planting acorns tree so the pig get them when the nut drop comes or any kind of nut trees 🌳 or even chestnut 🌰 trees
have you considered rotating other animals in after the pigs like chickens, cows, sheep, goats? I am guessing the grazing opportunities would be great after 2-3 weeks after the pigs has left.
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I am a couple years into pig farming in Oregon. Can’t wait for your feeder build... Question- How do you move feed around your farm and fill your feeders full of feed? Barrels, ton feed bags? Jesse
Joel thank you for continually sharing knowledge despite that tool bag in the FB group. ;) Question: Will you seed barely behind each group throughout the winter? In your experience what is the result when seeding through the winter months?
Yes we do as our winters are mild. I would say that if you have a freeze/thaw cycle its good to seed. They will start slow and really take off on warm March days. If frozen solid I'd wait for spring.
I'm always curious as to why you overseed. I know everyone has different approaches and needs, but what's the difference between what you're trying to accomplish compared to polyface where they proudly talk about never having seeded?
Jordan thanks for the informative video. One question. Where do you keep the pigs over winter? Are they on pasture and if so how do you tackle the water freezing problem?
Pretty much the same as you see here. We do have to switch to the frost resistant water system that I did a previous video on but everything else continues the same.
I am raising 2 pigs and want to keep one for breeding. I know pigs need companionship but I have chickens that are with the pigs all the time. Do you think the chickens will keep one lone pig happy or do they need companionship specifically from another pig? Thanks
Hi. We are setting up a pastured pig farm in Bulgaria. Would it be ok to use your ideas please? Like you, I am ex military and am looking for somewhere quiet to start life again. Thanks.
I’m a first time pig grower. I bought feeder pigs from someone that had them in a pen that had a piece of plywood for their outside area. I have offered them apples and veggies but they won’t touch them. Any suggestions. Thanks.
New sub Here from Justin Rhodes YT. I appreciate the great passion you have for improving what you do with your pig operation. Keep up the great work.

I enjoy your pig videos!!
Great video mate, keep up the good work!
Did you ever think about planting peanuts 🥜 so the pigs 🐖 could eat them so you could get a nut finished pork or planting acorns tree so the pig get them when the nut drop comes or any kind of nut trees 🌳 or even chestnut 🌰 trees
Most of our woods are nut bearing trees. Oak, walnut, hickory.
@@FarmBuilder i seen on one of your vlog you feed your pig 🐖 some kind of ground up peanut mill
Yes, we feed peanuts too.
have you considered rotating other animals in after the pigs like chickens, cows, sheep, goats? I am guessing the grazing opportunities would be great after 2-3 weeks after the pigs has left.
For sure! We graze cows and poultry on the same ground at different times.

Many thanks for sharing this video and information. what about at the night? where do they stay? Any shelter?
Love your videos! What do you feed your pigs? Protein, mix, etc.
What are best breeds of pig for pasture raising life style? Great video!
I don't think it's breed specific. It's management inside your unique farm context.
Jordan how long does a typical sow last as a productive piggy maker?

I will be waiting to see your IBC totes feeder build video. How soon do you think you will make and post it
Next month or so.
@@FarmBuilder thank you
बहुत ही अछा है,,
Awesome, is the netting energized or strictly for looks?
how do you prevent inbreeding in your pig lines?
🎉
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Pretty much the same as you see here. We do have to switch to the frost resistant water system that I did a previous video on but everything else continues the same.
What about cold wet (rain/snow) nights? It's not a problem for them without shelter?
permanent fence in the back? two down and one across is the three sides off of a fix system on the back line?
There is a fence on the top here but its coincidental. Would use nets if not along the edge.
How do you by know that they are feeding Enough, drinking enough water and in the right quantities
If there's constant availability, they will take care just fine.
I am raising 2 pigs and want to keep one for breeding. I know pigs need companionship but I have chickens that are with the pigs all the time. Do you think the chickens will keep one lone pig happy or do they need companionship specifically from another pig? Thanks
Have another pig.
Hi.
We are setting up a pastured pig farm in Bulgaria.
Would it be ok to use your ideas please?
Like you, I am ex military and am looking for somewhere quiet to start life again.
Thanks.
Of course! that's why the channel is here. Take anything you see and improve and use it.
Whats for lunch pork?
Will you keep those feeders on full feed until finished out?
How do you deal with predators?
Not an issue for us.
is 60 days rest enough for the parasite to die on pasture?
i can stretch it upto 80-85 days using sacrificial paddock
That's helpful. It's about forage regeneration as well.
Isn't that why chickens are used after the pigs? And ducks to remove snails?
What kind of pigs are these?
Hi I'm interested wishing everyday from juba south Sudan how can I get this feeding syem to
Is the netting hot as well or just a visual?
Just visual on this set up.
How many total acres do you run?
I’m a first time pig grower. I bought feeder pigs from someone that had them in a pen that had a piece of plywood for their outside area. I have offered them apples and veggies but they won’t touch them. Any suggestions. Thanks.
Take the corn away for a day or two and they'll get interested.
Which breed are these?
Our own. Duroc/Hamp/Hereford cross.
Do you have.muchBerkehsire blood
You have part of a black eye. A farm safety reminder or a good story?
Both?
8:23 that's an ass pig if i ever saw one
