I just got this (9.12.2023) and wore it immediately. Really impressed and definitely can smell the juniper berries and apple. It seems versatile and mass appealing. It had been on my radar for a year or so.

@@tdk1man I've only worn the fragrance twice but from my limited experience I could say no. I get about 8 hours of performance and I go nose blind after about 4 hours. I'm sure others can still smell it though.
Out of my collection of many designer and several niche brands, this consistently gets the most random compliments. The people saying performance isn’t there are probably having a bit of nose blindness. I wore it a few days ago and several hours later went to Nordstrom and some guy complimented me on my cologne from like 6 feet away, I could barely even smell it on myself by that point. That was with maybe 4 sprays and about 4-5 hours after application. For the price from discounters, it’s well worth it IMO.
I went to Ulta and sprayed 4 sprays on myself yesterday at 3 pm. I still smell it radiating this morning at 9 am. Performance on my skin is incredible
Could be they have an older batch. I have two newer batches and that's unfortunately not the case on anyone I have tested them on 😢

I got a bottle of this earlier this year; I will say the first few times I wore it I was disappointed with the performance. Seemed like it was wearing off after 4-5 hours and I could hardly smell it after an hour or two. Until i wore it to the office on a warm day and this stuff was filling our office space. Around the two hour mark it was projecting loudly about two meters out and leaving a massive scent trail behind me. At six hours someone commented on the scent several minutes after I’d left the area. Y EDP is LOUD. Olfactory fatigue is real with this stuff guys, trust me.

They reformulated. It has zero projection. I applied 16 sprays but none of colleagues noticed I am wearing this. It has zero projection not worth the price

This for me is the best blue overall. Not as fk boyish as sauvage and not as classy as bleu de Chanel but it’s the perfect medium. It last about 8 hrs for me and is loud.
It is definitely a good middle ground of the two. Can be too sweet for some in the high heat however
I chose this over dylan blue and am waiting to get delivered. I have another blue scent in the form of Davidoff Cool Water Intense. It's versatile but not long-lasting on a warm day. Hope Y fixes that !

Bro I wanted to like this so bad because of the hype but I went to sample it last week at Macys and it smells TOO generic to me man I ended up grabbing 1 Million Royal by Paco Rabanne

I don't see enough people talk about how woody it is, idk if its a different batch or something but to me, even though i do get the sage, apple and other notes, this is intensely woody for me, way more than I expected
Everyone will smell things a bit differently. I dont think this one is overly woody imo. But that doesn't mean anyone is wrong!
I just bought the Y Edp last Friday and I was very disappointed that it didn't last not even 2 hours on my skin. It's obviously been reformulated and it's a waste to spend 100 dollars in this fragrance with this kind of performance
Yeah, I'm not sure why the performance is so hyped up. This is heavily synthetic so there is still a possibility to rule it out as becoming noseblind
Nah bro, just picked this up today, got a 2022 batch and man! Put this thing on at 10:30 am and it’s 10 pm right now and I can still smell it! Its lasted all day on me with good projection all the way through

I just realized today. I think this Y EDP is super similar to Versace Eros accept it’s less intense on the apple and it’s more fresh clean smell. Instead of keeping the extra “playfulness” In the Eros. I still like both scents a lot but I think prefer Eros a lot more. I have no issues wearing Eros for most occasions.
Although i dont personally find them similar, i totally understand what you are saying.

After trying out Y EDT for a while, I was drawn to purchasing the Y EDP due to its hype and the captivating, stronger, and sweeter scent compared to the EDT. Despite its allure, I'm disappointed by its performance, similar to your experience of only getting 4-5 hours of longevity. Despite this, I still enjoy the scent, but wish its performance matched its appeal specially for the price we're paying.
Yeah i agree. It smells great but performance is a bit of a let down. I still really like it though
This might be my next pick-up. I tried it on my skin a few days ago, and i got 13 hours of projection of it.

Ive figured out why i dont like it, in australia u can get this really cheap green apple shampoo and conditioner its like the cheapest ones u can buy and this smells just like it, its funny because im noticing a trend with my taste where if it reminds me of a soap or shampoo i instantly dont like it and cant get past it lol i seem to not mind the dylan blue body wash style tho

Hey I am just like the guy also in his 50s that feels the exact same way regarding this fragrance. I initially loved Y by YSL EDP at first smell. After a few wears not so much anymore. Yes it's too youthful & playful for me as well and just not masculine enough for my tastes. Then I discovered (sadly just like the Nautica Voyage) that the apple note in them both just was too much for my nose to take all day long it became annoying. I wish Y by YSL had musk in it though and maybe the vetiver note that they put in Terre D'Hermes. That maybe would have made the Y more masculine for me and this other older gentleman.
Now, in the same regards, the Dunhill Racing Icon EDP is a super similar scent to Y by YSL EDP yet has musk & vetiver in it and no Apple note in it. You might want to let that gentleman know that and I also would love to hear your thoughts on Dunhill Racing Icon EDP. Pretty sure you should enjoy it. It's the same to my nose but without the overbearing apples smell all day long. I got good projection & longevity from & YSL EDP myself. But I had to wear it 4 times to finally decide the fragrance was not for me. Sadly. I mean I really wanted to like Y YSL it and though it was a great scent at first. Just that too harsh apple came across as metallic & synthetic too much to my nose. Sadly that became super annoying to my nose. But I still think it's a super great scent. And yes, much more so made for you younger guys imho.

@@ChadSecrets It's the one in the Green bottle just titled "The Dunhill Icon Racing by Alfred Dunhill Eau De Parfum Spray. I think it's the first original version still in production. Anyways, the GREEN BOTTLE one is the one I got and I'm referring to. :)

YSL Y EdP is the kind of fragrance, one may will not smell yourself quickly for a few days or weeks you get noseblind to it. But after a week of daily wear you get used to it and expierence the powerful performance yourself. I though mysself the performance is weak, but everyone around me was smelling me like atomic storm when I was thinking the fragrance waa gone 😂 turns out it took me some days to get used to the scent profile, lasts 10+ hours for me even with new batches.
That's totally understandable and happens to me a lot with different fragrances. I'm sure a lot of people will go noseblind to this one
I'm hoping that's what's going on with me, because it seems like after an hour I'm no longer smelling it.

I would say so! I do not tend to wear this one in high heat though because of the sweetness
I think 5 hours is about it. That was disappointing. I really like the scent. Youthful? ok I'm 70. I really do like it though.
Sometimes sweetness can be viewed as youthful but I think most scents are ageless as long as it is worn with confidence 😁

I love the scent but it just doesn’t seem to last. Mine is good for about 4 hours then very light skin scent after. It projects hard for about an hour or two max.

To be honest I feel your assessment on longevity is accurate. It’s pretty much what I get. I sometimes wonder if it’s me but I honestly don’t. I just feel many reviewers over do it so that they get freebies from the fragrance companies. Just my 2 cents. My journey was similar to yours I didn’t love this at first and sampled it. And bc it’s one of the few fragrances I wear that gets compliments I bought a full size. Also have the Le Parfum as well as the new intense. All in all I wear them for me regardless. Nice honest review thanks👍🏻

I sprayed some of this on my skin today at a store on my lunch break and I honestly thought it had a weird cigarette type smell to it. Its like theres one note that really throws me off. I've tried a couple of the Y line and it hust doesnt agree with my skin. I personally wouldnt switch from Dior Sauvage EDP

Honestly, i would go with somehing fresher than this one. The sweetness of the ysl y can be a bit overwhelming in the higher heat. Imo between the two Nautica would be a better choice.

You’re not alone with that underwhelming performance. I ended up buying a. 200mL of a newer batch and it only lasts around 5-6 hours. $160 with my name engraved in the bottle. Definitely not the beast mode everyone says it is.

Bleu de chanel line can be seen as similar because the incense. I would look into Mancera Cedrat Boise though as it's my go to preformer for all occasions

No it doesn't affect performance because they pull from the same batches and just put them in different bottles.

I actually didn't like this one. literally to me it smells like what frag snobs say "shower gel". i had someone telling me "it's good it smells like aftershave". lasts long especially on skin but meh i wouldn't buy it again
Fair enough, I definitely don't think it smells like after shave but I could see the shower gel vibes for sure
@@ChadSecrets lol i take it back this smells amazing now ... sprayed it again like an hour ago and its giving me an awesome soursweet scent. it smelled very bitter to me before and first time i sprayed it i couldn't even smell it unless i put my nose to my skin. could be my nose was KOed for a while ... wow it smells so good !

@@ChadSecrets question since you reviewed both Dylan blue and this. I was looking for a versatile blue to add to my collection. I got Dylan blue 200ml for $66 usd and ysl Y edp 200ml for $130 usd. So good deals for both and I can just spray away. Which one would you keep if you only wanted one. Both are on order but I have sometime before they ship.
@nicholasrodriguez5903 personally, I prefer ysl y by scent profile, but Dylan Blue hits differently in the night. They are both very good and I use them equally 😁

Hey Darius! YSL Y is way fresh and clean almost youthful and sweet. Compared to Dylan Blue which is more sophisticated, mature and masculine.

I bought it and honestly it’s good but it doesn’t seem like a completed fragrance. It smells very bitter and synthetic on the dry down. Bleu de Chanel edp is a completed fragrance and a masterpiece. I’d give Ysl y edp like a 5 or 6
It's pretty complete imo. But i agree about synthetic and less quality than bdc edp. I think both are great but made for two different types of preferences

It can hold its own on winter, yes. It's the most versatile fragrance I own.
For school, not sure. It can be strong so I recommend to go light on the sprays.

@@ChadSecrets it‘s relatively old (2016) but that does not say much- I really like it. It’s obviously not as punchy Vanilla as Althair but there are Situations where less punchy is better. And no cake 😂 (which I smell at the end of Althair - which Is fine but I always need to 2-3 days to like Althair again.)
My summer go toes are for him bloe noir by Narcisco Rodriguez than I tried Ralph’s Club Parfum and really liked but for me it’s gone basically two or three Minutes after spraying… now I tried Y (Eau de Parfum) after I had I had a little sample of the Parfum. The Reviews all said I should go for the EDP. In Reality the Parfum in my opinion is much better than the EDP… and iam 31…
It's not worth the hype, you get an eau fresh performance for the price of an edp.
