- Taking a decades-old KX500 two-stroke motor and making it work inside an modern aluminium chassis from a KXF isn't just as simple as bolting it in and hoping for the best.
In the first of our Fast AF project videos, Dave Willet gets to grips with an imported bike with no history to see how it rides and what needs to be done to create the ultimate hybrid KX.
Look at your float height. My kx5 ice racing bike w a lectron was not a happy starter until I got the float/ fuel level set right.
I had to lower the fuel level. Now it is a pretty easy start even on near 0F days at the lake.
Absolutely great angles for that footage at the end......hats off!
Add a magura hydraulic clutch and detune it so you can hammer the throttle, looking forward to your testing on this 👌
He might even add a TSR billet engine crank case. Comes with a real hydraulic clutch. Costs about 1500 £ but I think it's worth it 😃
@@mikehansenHamburg that would be cool, the 1988 kx 500 I owned used to vibrate so much it would send my hands numb when racing but I still enjoyed the fear it put into me as the top end started pulling 😂
@@onlygazza Check out fasst flexx bars. Many baja riders used them bacause they had the same problem. I might try them out in the near future. Vibration on a 250 2T is already too much for me haha.
What year engine is it?

Just the front forks needed a but of tlc.🤣

That engraving on the clutch cover looks like it could be worth chasing up on the net??

So, I know you know who Service Honda or known as Built today. Not ever Joe Smow can properly build an AF500. Your a smart man do your own research. Plus, sell the Lectron.
